Get back together?

Qiao Tan Yuan thought she was dreaming.

‘Am I dreaming…’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

Qiao Tan Yuan’s hands touched Gu Jiao Wu’s cheeks. His cheeks were warm, she wasn’t dreaming.

‘What are you doing here?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.

Gu Jiao Wu held Qiao Jiao Wu’s hands. He had only one thought, her lips. His lips captured her lips.

Qiao Tan Yuan was confused why Gu Jiao Wu’s face was coming closer to her face. Suddenly he kissed her, she was too tensed to react. Their soft lips mingled… Gu Jiao Wu was kissing her?

Qiao Tan Yuan opened her mouth to yell, but it gave Gu Jiao Wu’s tongue access to her mouth. His soft tongue licked her tongue. Her eyes widened. She could see his long eyelashes and eyes like deep pools.

Gu Jiao Wu’s tongue tangled with Qiao Tan Yuan’s tongue, and stopped her from crying out. Was he kissing her? In the past if their lips touched, it was always an accident. Was it her first real kiss… it was a hot deep kiss.

Gu Jiao Wu sensed Qiao Tan Yuan was distracted. His hands braced her neck so their bodies could be closer together.

Qiao Tan Yuan had no kissing experience. Her cheeks blushed and she had trouble breathing. She opened her mouth to breathe, but Gu Jiao Wu’s tongue entered deeper into her mouth.

A long time later, Gu Jiao Wu’s lips let go of Qiao Tan Yuan’s lips.

‘Qiao Tan Yuan…’ Gu Jiao Wu said in a husky voice. ‘Let’s get back together.’

Gu Jiao Wu’s words broke Qiao Tan Yuan’s dreamy haze. Her heart understood what he wanted and she slapped his cheek hard.

Gu Jiao Wu was startled and Qiao Tan Yuan pushed his chest away from her. She sat upright and took deep breaths.

‘Gu Jiao Wu, you AH,’ Qiao Tan Yuan cursed.

Gu Jiao Wu looked at Qiao Tan Yuan’s angry eyes, and he didn’t understand why she was angry. He kissed her when she woke up so she didn’t use full force to slap him and the slap on his face didn’t hurt. Did his cheek hurt her palm? He held her wrist, her palm was red.

‘Gu Jiao Wu, get out!’ Qiao Tan Yuan said and tried pulling her hand out of Gu Jiao Wu’s hold.

‘Qiao Tan Yuan… are you angry?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked in a confused voice.

Gu Jiao Wu looked at her flushed face. Why was Qiao Tan Yuan angry? Was she angry he kissed her?

Qiao Tan Yuan glared confusedly at Gu Jiao Wu. What was Gu Jiao Wu asking? Why wouldn’t she be angry?

Qiao Tan Yuan scoffed coldly. ‘Of course I’m angry. Gu Jiao Wu, do you think I’m useless? So useless that I need to rely on you to live?’

Gu Jiao Wu didn’t think Qiao Tan Yuan was useless.

‘Gu Jiao Wu, I will never hand over Xiao Bao to you,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

Qiao Tan Yuan didn’t expect Gu Jiao Wu would resort to marrying her again because of Xiao Bao. Why did he underestimate her commitment and resourcefulness to provide for Xiao Bao to that extent?

‘Do you think I want to get back together with you because of Xiao Bao?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.

‘Why else would you want to marry me again?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.

Qiao Tan Yuan didn’t expect Gu Jiao Wu would live with a woman he hated because he wanted Xiao Bao.

Initially Gu Jiao Wu asked Qiao Tan Yuan to marry him again because of Xiao Bao. A part of his heart didn’t want to hurt Qiao Tan Yuan. After witnessing how she risked her life to save Xiao Bao, he saw her differently. When he was watching Qiao Tan Yuan sleep, he realised he no longer hated her. He kissed her to confirm his feelings, he didn’t hate her and he didn’t want to keep his distance from her. If he didn’t hate her, they could live peacefully together with Xiao Bao as a family. w.a.n.g Tu Ya would stop nagging him to marry someone else, and it would cement Xiao Bao’s status as his legitimate heir.

‘Isn’t living together with me again what you always wanted?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.

Gu Jiao Wu didn’t understand why Qiao Tan Yuan was angry. Didn’t she say she loved him for many years? Didn’t she schemed to get him to marry her like drugging him? Didn’t she give birth to Xiao Bao to force him to marry her again?

‘Gu Jiao Wu…’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. If her palm didn’t hurt, she would have slapped Gu Jiao Wu again. ‘Leave right now!’

‘Qiao Tan Yuan, why are you angry?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.

Gu Jiao Wu didn’t know why Qiao Tan Yuan was angry. He was giving her what she wanted. He was marrying her again and they would give Xiao Bao a family.

Qiao Tan Yuan wanted to yell. Why did Gu Jiao Wu need to ask why she was angry? She took a deep breath and told herself to calm down. But thinking about Gu Jiao Wu wanting to marry her again because of Xiao Bao made it hard for her to calm down.

‘Gu Jiao Wu…’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. She fisted her hands and she wanted to punch Gu Jiao Wu. ‘I, Qiao Tan Yuan vow even if all the other men in the world died, even if I have to marry a pig, I will never marry you again. If you heard me then you can leave.’

Gu Jiao Wu didn’t know why Qiao Tan Yuan was so worked up.

‘Qiao Tan Yuan?’ Gu Jiao Wu called.

Qiao Tan Yuan picked up her phone. ‘If you don’t leave I’ll call the cops. Gu Jiao Wu, I’m not joking.’

Qiao Tan Yuan pressed two b.u.t.tons. Gu Jiao Wu didn’t believe she would call the cops and stayed seated on the bed.

‘The Gu Household has a reputation to maintain,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘I don’t think you want to be seen at a police station explaining why you broke into someone else’s house.’

Qiao Tan Yuan pressed the last b.u.t.ton and an operator’s voice was heard. Gu Jiao Wu grabbed her phone, hung up and threw her phone across the room.

Gu Jiao Wu sat face to face with Qiao Tan Yuan. Her angry eyes were glaring at him. Her small straight nose was beautiful and her white teeth was biting her swollen lips. Looking at her lips made him think of their kiss. He remembered her lips were soft and she tasted sweet. He knew his senses were affected because of his long drought. But he didn’t know why she was angry.

‘Qiao Tan Yuan, can you use your brain before you speak?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked. ‘Think about what’s best for Xiao Bao.’

‘Best for Xiao Bao?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.

Qiao Tan Yuan didn’t know what Gu Jiao Wu was expecting from her. Did he expect her to thank him for making a sacrifice to be with her?

‘Gu Jiao Wu, I’m impressed by your selflessness and willingness to sacrifice yourself,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said sarcastically. ‘I didn’t expect you would want to marry someone you hate because of Xiao Bao.’

‘Qiao Tan Yuan, calm down and be reasonable,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.

‘I am calm,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

Qiao Tan Yuan was crazily calm. If four years ago she saw the real Gu Jiao Wu, she would have given him a different drug instead of a sleeping pill. For a moment she wondered if Xiao Bao was born three years ago if they would have been a happy family. But the reality was after being married to him for three years, she was only left with an empty broken heart.

‘Gu Jiao Wu…’ Qiao Tan Yuan said and took another deep breath.

Qiao Tan Yuan realised she didn’t understand Gu Jiao Wu all those years ago. She used to think he wouldn’t make any sacrifices or compromises to be with her. She was wrong, he would make sacrifices and compromises to be with her for the wrong reasons.

‘I am calm,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘I have never been as reasonable as I am now. It’s you who should be reasonable. Do you know what a marriage means? Do you know how sacred a marriage is? If you don’t know then leave.’
