She was lost in her thoughts that she failed to see the male staring at her in shock.
He was mumbling under his breath, " Not possible...How? How is this possible?"
The male looked at her in horror but soon his body started twitching and he let out a horrified scream, " NOOOOOOO !!!!! "
The scream startled Freya from her thoughts, she looked at the male suspect and frowned. She saw the guy scratching his neck, drawing blood as he twitched and soon a blue fire surrounded his body.
Freya stared at the blue fire which was burning him alive and stopped Usui from helping him.
She pinched her eyebrows and said, "You can't help him."
Usui looked at her in confusion, "But why?"
"Look at that mark on his chest, it's the force which is eating away his life."
Usui looked at the man's half-burnt body and saw a mark which was shining in blue light. He saw her move forward and stab the man's chest with her dagger, giving him an easy death.
She mocked, "Well, it was a given that they wouldn't let him live after failing his mission. I guess he didn't know what the mark does."
Ignoring the burnt body, she cleaned her dagger and sheathed it back on her waist. She turned to Usui, to see him glaring at her.
Realising the reason behind his glare, she shrugged nonchalantly, "You would have only been a burden if you took part."
He couldn't help but agree with her even though it was his first time hearing someone call him a " burden".
He didn't like that he had to leave the risky part to her. She raised her brow when she realised his willful thinking.
" So the cold, aloof prince does have a stubborn, protective side?"
Usui looked up at her to see her look amused.
" I'm not stubborn." he reb.u.t.ted childishly as he turned his eyes away from her.
"Says someone who is walking around when he's supposed to take rest, wanting to fight when he's weak and partic.i.p.ating in this compet.i.tion when he's poisoned."
He looked at her in surprise," How did you know about that?"
He hadn't told anyone when he realised he was poisoned as his strength kept deteriorating. He had visited many healers who announced that his body was healthy and there are no signs of any illness.
He deduced that the poison couldn't be healed so he decided to let it be and focused more on other matters. Since he had less time in this world, he decided to do things which he usually wouldn't have done.
That's another reason why he listened to his mother to partic.i.p.ate in this compet.i.tion and another reason why he isn't wooing the person in front of him.
He had always thought he would die in battle and not by any illness. So, he gave up on his life and fought every challenge even though fighting would reduce his lifespan.
He joined this compet.i.tion just to have fun which he wouldn't have done otherwise as he hated wasting time on stupid matters.
But, on reaching here and listening to the thunder squad fame, he wanted to test his power against the squad members and wanted to know how he would fare against them.
Unfortunately the more he battles, the more he becomes weak. As he had to battle the first round, even though it was short, the speed he displayed, managed to make him slightly weak.
The battle with Jinha made him want to go all out, but in the middle, he could feel his body giving up. So he managed a formation against him tricking the opponent.
But when Jinha broke through the formation, Usui was shocked and was glad later that he could still fight against a member equally.
He was sure he would die when he saw Jinha appear before him, as he couldn't lift his body after exerting so much.
He wanted for his death but his body refused to give up as it reacted by bringing his sword up to protect against the attack, breaking the sword in the process.
The poison was slowly depleting his mana and with his new sword, black thunder, his situation just became worse. He was hesitating before whether to buy the sword but then took the chance as he wanted to fight against her fairly, with all his strength even if it means he had to drain his mana in order to win.
Freya saw him looking at her surprised, she snorted, "Did you think you hid it well during the battle?"
