Masked Girl And Her Prince 19 Chapter 19 : Intruder

She touched her waist repeatedly looking confused while Usui looked at the frantic girl in his arms, he slowly grinned as he showed the dagger in his right hand.

As he was now holding onto her with one hand, she was able to push him off. Usui let go of her, raising his arms up while he grinned at her.

Annoyed, she tried to get her dagger from him but he held the dagger above his head making it hard for her to reach it. She jumped to s.n.a.t.c.h it back but Usui kept on moving backwards avoiding her.

She huffed," Give it back."

"You can take it if you can grab it from me." Usui teased her.

On hearing him tease her, she glowered at him and swiftly slammed her knee to his stomach. But to her utter surprise, Usui caught her knee with his palm as he looked at her.

He smiled and said, "That's not the way to ask for something."

Suddenly noticing something, the smile on his face changed as he grimly stared at a particular direction.

Shocked by his sudden change, Freya couldn't help but be amused, seeing the rumoured cold prince vibe off him.

Before she could ask him, she heard footsteps heading towards them and Usui grabbed her by her arms and pushed her into an alley.

"What ----"

She couldn't finish her words as Usui placed his hand over her lips, effectively shutting her up.

He whispered into her ear, "Shush... Let's wait."

Freya looked towards the direction he pointed and saw the two people she was following before.

She nodded her head slightly to him, wanting him to take his hand away. But, Usui seemed to not notice her actions, as he was focused on the two people.

Frustrated, Freya bit on his hand and managed to shut him up in the same way as he did, before he shouted, alerting the two figures.

He looked at her, complain written all over his face to which Freya smirked," Who asked you to shut my mouth?"

He narrowed his eyes and looked down at her hands on his lips. An evil glint pa.s.sed through his eyes as he licked her hand which brought shivers down her spine.

Freya withdrew her hand, wiping it furiously over his clothes while glaring at him.

Usui chuckled as he saw her behaving like a furious kitten.

Both of them turned serious as they watched the suspects when they felt a mana change in the atmosphere. She saw their lips moving and realised they were chanting.

Freya felt a breath near her neck and turned to find his face close to her. She grumbled," Why are you near me?"

"How else am I supposed to watch?"

They were crammed into a small alley which had a dead end. Freya rolled her eyes and turned to the suspects. She saw them taking something which she soon realised was a stone.

Everything became clear to her as soon as she saw what they were doing. Since the compet.i.tion was happening, all the guests were checked thoroughly before they enter the palace and all the teleportation gates were closed and only opened with the permission of the royal army.

She saw them preparing to create an unauthorized teleportation gate and realised she couldn't stand by. She looked at him who had the same expression as hers.

She looked at him who nodded at her before giving her weapon back. She saw him looking at his sword on his waist. Seeing his pale countenance, she sighed before kicking him away.

Surprised, Usui failed to dodge the attack and crashed against the wall and groaned.

Hearing a noise behind the suspects, the male suspect turned to see a figure flash before them and knocked the stone out of his hands before the figure slashed his companion's throat.

Usui stood up clutching his stomach and walked to the opening to see her standing near one of the suspects, pressing him against the wall with her dagger against his neck and the female suspect laying motionlessly with her blood pooled around the body.

The male watched his companion laying motionless with his eyes widened in shock. He couldn't believe that they were found out too soon.

He raged in his heart, 'This mission was supposed to be easy.' It was his bad luck that Freya went against their plans.

Freya noticed him coming out from the alley and before she could address him to smash the stone, she felt the male shove her away.

Usui watched as the male shoved her away and rushed towards her, desperately with a small dagger. From his movements, it was easy to deduce him as a beginner.

"Fool !!" Usui mumbled under his breath.

Freya stumbled a little from his shove but regained her stand as she dodged to her side from the incoming attack and the opponent fell forward. She kicked his behind and the male crashed against the wall.

She moved to the stone but unfortunately, she was a step behind as the stone shined brighter indicating the gate was a.s.sembled. She looked at Usui in shock as the other had the same expression as hers.

The male suspect laughed crazily, "Hahaha... It's too late. It's completed. Hahaha..."

Both of them turned to look at the gate which opened before them. The shining white light seemed like a door on the wall, they couldn't see the other side as the gate was kind of different from the ones they have sighted. This gate had a transparent layer like clear water covering the view of the other side.

Freya gripped her hilt tight as she moved in a flash towards the stone. As she reached the stone, she saw a leg coming through the gate. She knew she was late to stop the figure from entering so she glanced at Usui before rushing towards the figure.

Usui understanding her gaze, rushed towards the stone as he watched her move towards the gate. She slashed the intruder's leg and moved aside to avoid his kick.

She faced the gate as his hands came out. She didn't know whether the gate worked like the ones here in the palace. She avoided his hands and blindly stabbed the person through the gate, wishing it to work.

She felt her dagger pierce a body and the figure retracted his steps back to the other side. She felt a burning pain on her hand which made her retract her dagger which was covered in black blood. She looked at her hand which had some kind of bleeding mark on it.

And before the intruder could counter-attack, Usui stabbed the stone with black thunder, thereby destroying the gate.

The shining door was gradually closing but in the last second, a face popped out of the gate and his hands on either side, trying to stop the gate from closing.

Freya moved involuntarily, as she slashed the face, leaving a deep scar from its cheek to its forehead. The face groaned in pain as it held his face and fell backwards.

The last she saw through the water was a pair of red eyes staring angrily at her.
