"Hoahhh!!!" Boruto yawned loudly as he sat upright on his bed.
He could hear sounds of m.u.f.fled chirping of birds through the closed windows.
As he looked at the window, Boruto frowned.
"It's so bright,"
"What time is it…" he looked towards the clock that was beside his bed.
"Seven thirty I see…"
"Hoahhh!" Boruto let out another yawn as he slowly got up.
"huh?" Boruto took a look at the clock again.
"Wait a minute."
"What time does the cla.s.s start again…" Boruto walked out of bed in confusion, since the Academy back in his world usually started around Eight Thirty in the morning.
"Better hurry up," Boruto quickly took a bath and sat by the table to have some cereals.
After he was done eating, he took a look at himself in the mirror.
"The jumpsuit is all right, but the goggles definitely don't match up," Boruto sighed following which he tossed the Goggles into a drawer.
"huh?" Boruto caught a glimpse of a small black shirt at the end of the drawer.
He then unraveled the wrinkled black shirt which seemed to be worn by Naruto at the age of five.
"Well, It's not like I can wear this anymore," Boruto said as he grabbed a pair of scissors and started cutting through the shirt.
A few minutes later…
Boruto stared at the piece of cloth he held in his hand.
The piece of cloth was a headband Boruto made for himself with the Leaf symbol in white paint.
"I don't have a ninja headband, but I am a Genin back in my world,"
"This is not an official headband, so no one will have a problem with it,"
"If they do, I should knock some sense of fashion into them," Boruto thought as he stared at the masterpiece in his hands.
ZZzzzz!!!
Boruto unzipped the top jacket of Naruto's orange jumpsuit revealing the shirt within following which he tied the custom headband he had crafted to his forehead.
Boruto then looked at the mirror.
"Dad's hair is too short," Boruto sighed as he reached out for the comb.
*sh*
*sh*
Boruto styled his hair in a way that it appeared like his original self.
"I look rather dashing if I say so myself," Boruto thought as he looked at the mirror, admiring his skills.
His eyes then stopped on the whisker-shaped mark that was on his cheeks.
Boruto had two of those marks on either cheek, while Naruto had three.
"Guess I'll let you keep that part, dad," Boruto smiled to himself as he looked at the mirror.
He then looked at the picture he had drawn the previous night.
"Himawari, Mom, Dad,"
"I'm off now," Boruto said, following which he walked towards the door.
(Whoosh!)
Boruto jumped across buildings.
("Good thing I noted down the shortcuts yesterday night…") Boruto thought to himself as he traveled towards the Academy.
(Whoosh!) Boruto landed by the academy grounds.
"Looks like I made it in time," Boruto thought as he stared at the clock by the gate.
*Sh!*
Boruto slid open the cla.s.sroom door.
"Good morning guys," Boruto announced his arrival following which he paused.
("Yikes, I just proceeded in like my usual self…") Boruto looked around only to see some of his (Naruto's) cla.s.smates staring at him with their mouths wide open.
"Is that you Naruto?" Kiba asked from the corner of the cla.s.s.
"Yup," Boruto nodded towards Kiba following which he proceeded towards the seat he was sitting in, the previous day…
Meanwhile, the people in the cla.s.s had stared at Boruto who appeared in sharp contrast to the Naruto they knew.
Of course, Naruto was wearing the same Orange jumpsuit.
However, the way he entered the cla.s.s today was completely different.
He seemed to be like a cheerful guy who had a good sense of style and a bada.s.s headband that screamed I'm a ninja!
Kiba walked up to Naruto, followed by Choji.
"Are you feeling okay?" Kiba asked while examining Boruto from top to bottom.
"Why do you ask, Kibs(an)"
"Good Morning," Iruka said as he stepped into the cla.s.s.
"Good morning, Iruksensei" The students greeted at the same time.
*Sh!*
The cla.s.sroom door slid open,
"Sorry we're late," a voice interrupted.
"Sakura, Ino"
"You're just in time,"
"I haven't started taking attendance yet," Iruka said.
Shing!
Ino's and Sakura's eyes shined at the same time.
Boruto also quickly noticed this shine and their gazes which headed towards the seat next to him.
Boruto turned to his left to see Sasuke one seat away from him.
(Bang!) Sakura and Ino raced off at top speed.
("I need to leave a way for Sakura Obachan quickly,") Boruto reacted immediately by leaving some s.p.a.ce for Sakura to jump right in.
"Move," Sakura commanded as she jumped into the air.
("NOO!!!!") Ino screamed internally to see that she had reacted a bit late to Sakura's jump.
Plop!
Sakura fit right in between Boruto and Sasuke.
"Good morning, Sasuke-kun," Sakura said in a sweet voice.
"…" Sasuke didn't give a single response at all.
"bleh," Ino showed a mean eye to Sakura.
"looks like he ignored you," Ino mocked Sakura as she walked away.
("I still get to sit next to him Ino-pig,") Sakura stared daggers at Ino.
"All Right, I'll begin calling out the names now," Iruka said as he looked at the register.
"Aburame Shino,"
"…" Iruka called out the names one by one, while Boruto took the time to have another look at his dad's friends one by one.
"Uchiha Sasuke," Iruka called out.
"Here," Sasuke answered emotionlessly,
"Uzumaki Naruto," Iruka called out which was followed by a moment of silence.
("Uzumaki Naruto, How could I forget my ident.i.ty now,")
"Here," Boruto answered lately.
("Oh he's here,") Iruka looked towards Naruto only to stare at him with wide eyes.
"huh,"
("Naruto is next to me?") Sakura was surprised as well, to find out that the boy who had offered her the opportunity earlier was Naruto.
Sakura then turned around to look at Naruto only to be stunned by what she saw.
"Naruto?" Sakura called out lightly.
"Yes, Sakura Obaa,"
"s.h.i.t," Boruto closed his mouth, only to see that it was too late.
Sakura's eyes almost disappeared from her squinting in anger at Naruto.
"Naruto,"
"I am going to…"
Boruto stepped away from Sakura.
Never had he seen sweet Sarada's mom become such an ugly monster that she was right now.
"Sorry!" Boruto begged as though he was asking for his life from the Reaper G.o.d.
"Sakura STOP!" Iruka appeared right behind Boruto at this moment.
Sakura reigned in her anger as she withdrew her fist.
However, this was only replaced by an incredibly icy glare that targeted the depths of Boruto's soul.
Iruka looked at Boruto.
("Naruto looks completely different right now…") Iruka thought as he stared at Boruto.
"What is it, Iruksensei?" Boruto asked.
Iruka brought his index finger towards Boruto's forehead.
"This headband,"
"Did you make it by yourself?" Iruka asked.
"Yup," Boruto responded.
"You only had to pa.s.s the test to get your official Ninja headband," Iruka said as he stared at Boruto.
"I couldn't wait that long, Datteba.s.sa," Boruto responded.
"Datteba.s.sa?" Iruka thought back to where he had last heard that word.
"I swear I heard that somewhere before…" Iruka thought hard, but he couldn't connect Boruto's appearance to that of the old man from the previous day.
"Is there a problem?" Boruto asked.
"Just make sure you don't get into trouble with that headband on," Iruka said as he walked away back to his desk.
"…" Boruto silently looked at Iruka by the desk and dared not to face an angry Sakura who was sitting right by his side.
Iruka stood by his desk and looked at the cla.s.s.
"Everyone,"
"There's only two weeks before the final exam,"
"We've already completed the theory portions as of yesterday, so for the next two weeks we are only going to focus on your practical skills,"
"These two weeks will be grueling, but it'll count every effort to your final score," Iruka said following which he saw a hand raise up.
"Yes, Arata," Iruka called out.
"Sensei, Will we have a final revision for the theories before the final exam?" The boy asked.
"I'm sorry, there will be no revision; instead you'll have to revise the portions by yourselves at home."
"For those who are proficient in those areas, you might find your time effectively spent on training," Iruka explained.
"I see…" Boruto murmured.
"Today, we are going to do some sparring and shuriken target practice so all of you, line up in the field," Iruka said as he pointed towards the door.
Boruto was excited. Unlike the gloomy mood from yesterday, it was a chance to interact with everyone.
("I'll do my best.") Boruto cheered himself up.
Soon everyone was on the field, while Boruto looked around to see if there was spot within the group he could fit right in with.
"Naruto," A spooky voice called out.
Boruto slowly turned back to see Sakura glaring right at him.
"I'll pummel the daylights out of you in the spar today," Sakura said as she walked past him.
("Eh???") Boruto shuddered at the thought of facing Sakura.
("Please don't tell me she already had that monstrous strength at this age…") Boruto prayed.
Iruka turned towards the group,
"First is Shuriken practice,"
"We'll be going name wise," Iruka announced.
"Saved," Boruto breathed a sigh of relief.
The morning attendance call was usually done name wise,
Since Sakura's name was way before Naruto's, Boruto knew he was safe for the moment.
("Wait a minute, Isn't Uncle Sasuke before me!!") Boruto thought as he looked at Sasuke standing apart from the group with an uninterested look.
