Chapter 142: Bone Breaking
Duanmu Jingzong did not make a sound, he had no time to make a sound.
Ding Ning’s eyes lit up the moment he spoke. A gentle presence suddenly formed around him. A glowing stream of water flowed around his body.
While it was night, the stream of water sparkled, looking like a lake under the setting sun.
The azure light of the Last Flower remnant sword in his hand was immersed into the glowing water as it formed, seemingly merging with the water and speeding up!
Duanmu Jingzong had no time to think. His mind was taken over by fear as he desperately retreated. He had no time to even consider how Ding Ning could be this fast, but he knew he could not keep up with Ding Ning’s speed.
Yet, cultivators like him would have unconscious reactions foreboding what would occur next. In other words, when one’s feelings could not keep up, no matter what occured, the body would always have a delayed response.
Boom!
The ground, inches in front of Duanmu Jingzong, was destroyed. Dust and pieces of gravel formed a spherical wave that expanded furiously.
Ding Ning’s body flew backwards like it had been hit by a carriage.
Many of the teachers were stunned, and the students who had mostly been eliminated were shocked and confused.
They could not understand this scene. They could not understand why an explosion had occurred around Duanmu Jingzong. Ding Ning, who had appeared on the verge of stabbing Duanmu Jingzong, had been thrown into the air.
There was a m.u.f.fled snap. Time seemed to be long at this moment, but was actually short.
This was the sound of Ding Ning landing heavily on the ground.
As Ding Ning’s feet touched down dozens of feet away, two clouds of dust exploded under them.
His face was pale, but his body was unusually steady. He had bent his knees the moment he landed, easily dissipating the momentum of the landing.
Duanmu Jingzong’s body appeared in the bloom of dust and air.
Everyone saw that his face was as pale as snow, and his eyes wreathed with shock and confusion.
Most of the students watching still did not understand what had happened. In the next moment, intimidating sounds suddenly came from Duanmu Jingzong’s legs.
These students looked in shock at Duanmu Jingzong’s legs.
Blood reflected in their eyes. Threads of blood, like sharp swords, shot out of Duanmu Jingzong’s legs!
A scream of terror, fury and confusion sounded.
Duanmu Jingzong had finally screamed. He could not control his body, and as he took a step back, he fell down.
“What is going on?”
“Why is it like this!”
Seeing this scene, many students could not control their emotions and cried out.
However, there came no answer.
Ding Ning had adjusted his breathing and his vibrating vital energy. He said, “I hope you will not easily admit defeat.”
As he spoke, his body started to advance. With a sharp hum, a rising white sword light crashed towards Duanmu Jingzong’s body as he advanced. This white sword light looked like a curved goat’s horn.
This was the famed White Goat Hanging Horn of White Goat Cave. The true meaning of the sword was to withstand and endure.
Based on Ding Ning’s past performances, he had more refined moves to use in an attack.
And yet, Zhang Yi, who had been dazedly watching this battle, felt his eyes turn wet. For he could sense the significance of this attack, and what his “little sect brother” represented with this sword.
Under Xue w.a.n.gxu’s personal teachings, he had comprehended the meaning of this White Goat Hanging Horn. Yet, in this moment, he felt that even Xue w.a.n.gxu’s sword essence could not compare to Ding Ning.
Jin Liuli’s complexion paled slightly.
Even Yantai Guanjian’s breathing paused.
This was the most perfect sword essence he had seen in the last few years.
Most of the students changed expressions dramatically. They instinctively felt that Duanmu Jingzong, sitting on the ground, could not stop this attack.
Did Ding Ning want to kill him?
But the fight had not ended, and Ding Ning taking advantage of the situation to attack was not wrong.
Duanmu Jingzong gave another furious scream.
The sword wounds on his legs were still spurting blood, but he forced himself to stand in this moment and swung his sword forward.
A m.u.f.fled bang…
The purple-red sword hammered onto Ding Ning’s Last Flower remnant sword. Then the soft blade swam like a poisonous snake, wrapping around Ding Ning’s blade and cutting towards Ding Ning’s fingers!
At the same time, Ding Ning’s left hand was pressing towards Duanmu Jingzong’s chest.
Duanmu Jingzong’s left hand moved like lightning.
There was an explosive snap, followed by a sharp sound of metal sc.r.a.ping, numerous gasps, and the sound of bone cracking!
Duanmu Jingzong sprayed blood out of his mouth, his body bowing backwards. He could not stop himself from falling down again.
Ding Ning’s left hand was still stretched, waves of energy wrapped around his arm. The purple-red sword coiled around his Last Flower sword sc.r.a.ped powerlessly on the blade as Duanmu Jingzong’s body fell back, and made threads of fire.
“Why is it like this?”
Many students struggled to breath.
In the previous moment, Ding Ning’s power had overwhelmed Duanmu Jingzong. His left hand had managed to push aside Duanmu Jingzong’s left fist, and then gave a hard hit to his chest.
Without needing to hear the clear sound of bone cracking, they were certain that some of Duanmu Jingzong’s ribs had cracked by the blood he had vomited.
Ding Ning had truly broken Duanmu Jingzong’s bones.
But how was this possible!
Duanmu Jingzong’s vital energy cultivation surpa.s.sed Ding Ning so how could there be such a disparity in power!
Ding Ning ignored their shocks. He did not pause at all as he continued to swing his sword and advance. His body did not give off a strong vital energy presence, but as he pa.s.sed through the chaotic flow of energy and dust, an indescribable presence formed.
“So strong!”
Dugu Bai’s breathing finally calmed slightly.
He could not help but gasp yet felt it was not enough, adding… “Too strong!”
Duanmu Jingzong’s eyes were filled by Ding Ning’s fight. Feeling this indescribable presence, his anger turned completely into terror. He was certain, if he did not admit defeat, the other would ruthlessly break more of his ribs in the next moment!
“I forfeit!”
He shouted in a panic-stricken and anxious voice.
Ding Ning did not hesitate to put his sword away and turned around.
Everything went quiet.
The entire valley grew quiet.
Even the sound of breathing seemed to disappear, leaving behind the cry of cicadas in **
All the spectating students looked in shock at Ding Ning’s figure, realizing that the battle had ended.
Duanmu Jingzong, who had even wagered by leaving Min Mountain Sword Sect, was defeated at Ding Ning’s hands.
The scenes of battle they had just seen flashed through their minds. Even the stupidest student’s presence slowly realized what had happened.
Ding Ning released all the cold sword energy acc.u.mulated in his body at the start, beginning brutally. Then he used his fastest sword moves, not giving Duanmu Jingzong a chance to counterattack, or use his vital energy cultivation!
Then, Ding Ning used the sword manual of the Cloud Water Palace in coordination with the Aurora Sword Manual to make his sword much faster!
When the sword reached Duanmu Jingzong, he was immersed in the terror of death. His instinctive response was to expel the vital energy and primal energies of the universe in his body. While the great power created would allow him to avoid having his legs cut off, he would have almost no vital energy and primal energies in his body. His energies and blood would be in extreme turmoil.
So, in that moment, Duanmu Jingzong could not muster any strength to fight Ding Ning. This was the true reason his bones were broken.
Duanmu Jingzong was like an ultimate sword, yet this sword, before it could be unsheathed, was broken!
“Why is it like this?”
While many students knew the reason in their hearts, they still felt great disbelief and could not help but cry out.
