Motive.
‘Your daughter,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘You want to take your daughter home, and give her a family.’
Daughter, daughter, daughter. Gu Jiao Wu couldn’t believe Qiao Tan Yuan thought he only wanted to be with her because of their daughter.
‘My motive is our daughter?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.
‘What else?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.
Gu Jiao Wu clenched and unclenched his hands.
‘At the start I wanted to be with you because of Xiao Bao,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘Now it’s not the same.’
‘Your reasons are your business, not mine,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said and turned her head to the side.
‘Not your business?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.
Gu Jiao Wu held Qiao Tan Yuan’s face, and kissed her lips. He grabbed her wrist before she slapped his cheek, and she glared at him to let her go.
‘Are you going to slap me every time I kiss you?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.
‘Why can’t I slap you?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.
Gu Jiao Wu pushed Qiao Tan Yuan onto the bed, and laid on top of her.
‘Gu Jiao Wu!’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘Get off…’
Gu Jiao Wu showed Qiao Tan Yuan his feelings through his kiss.
‘You chased Chu Da away,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘I don’t know why Chu Da left. But I know you were involved. I hated you for being selfish, and for drugging me. You know what I hate most is someone scheming against me. Did you think you would be an exception? You wanted me to marry you, and to give you the t.i.tle of Mrs Gu. I married you, and you were my wife. You wanted me to love you, but I couldn’t love you. I admit I did hate you, and resented you. It’s all in the past. Qiao Tan Yuan, I’m saying this to you one last time, I want to marry you because I love you, it has nothing to do with our daughter or anyone else.’
Gu Jiao Wu didn’t want to make the same mistake to impulsively marry Qiao Tan Yuan for revenge or any other reason other than he loved her, and wanted to be with her.
‘Do you still think I want to marry you because of our daughter?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.
How could Qiao Tan Yuan think rationally if Gu Jiao Wu was lying on top of her? She knew what answer he was antic.i.p.ating to hear from her. But she couldn’t take a step back.
‘Yes,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘I’ll always believe you want to be with me because of Xiao Bao…’
Gu Jiao Wu bit Qiao Tan Yuan’s lips hard, let go of her and got off the bed.
‘The little white rabbit is a MF,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘But he’s right about one thing. Qiao Tan Yuan, you’re a cruel woman.’
Gu Jiao Wu left, slammed the door and drove home to let Qiao Tan Yuan and himself cool off.
Qiao Tan Yuan stayed in her bedroom, and slumped on the floor. She stared at the closed door. The same door Gu Jiao Wu pressed her back against, pleasured her and forced her to say she loved him. She shook her head, but couldn’t clear out his parting words… ‘Qiao Tan Yuan, I love you… Qiao Tan Yuan, you’re a cruel woman… I love you…’
Qiao Tan Yuan buried her head between her knees, and couldn’t stop herself from crying. Did she cry because she regretted her decision? She laughed coldly, and raised her head. She sniffed her nose, and wiped tears off her face. She didn’t regret her decision. Marrying Gu Jiao Wu again would be another mistake.
Qiao Tan Yuan stood, and packed hers, and Xiao Bao’s essential belongings into two boxes. Then she walked downstairs to find another box to pack Xiao Bao’s favorite toys. On the way downstairs she looked out the window, and remembered the night Gu Jiao Wu parked outside her home but didn’t come in. That night he looked lonely. She shook her head to stop thinking about him. She was married to him for three years. Their marriage was a nightmare that haunted her, and reinforced that he didn’t love her. At most he liked her because of Xiao Bao.
A couple of days later, Qiao Tan Yuan was packing clothes, and a spare baby bag into suitcases on her bed.
Gu Jiao Wu barged into Qiao Tan Yuan’s bedroom, and strode to her bed. His mood was dark as his black business suit. He glared at the packed boxes, and the suitcases in her bedroom.
‘Are you going to Denmark?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.
Qiao Tan Yuan continued to pack.
‘Answer me!’ Gu Jiao Wu said.
Gu Jiao Wu sat on the bed, and held her hands tightly like he wanted to break her hands so she couldn’t pack again.
‘My business has nothing to do with you,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.
‘Qiao Tan Yuan!’ Gu Jiao Wu said.
Gu Jiao Wu gave Qiao Tan Yuan some s.p.a.ce to think about accepting his marriage proposal. He didn’t give her s.p.a.ce for her, and Xiao Bao to leave him.
‘If you want to go, you need to my agreement,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.
‘What right do you have to tell where I can go or can’t go?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.
‘Because I’m Xiao Bao’s father and I love you,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.
