Chapter Thirty Side Story

Li Dan Qi cleaned Fei Yan Niao’s house and received her first house maid pay.

Fei Yan Niao and Li Dan Qi had another training session. Li Dan Qi tried to pay Fei Yan Niao a training fee. Fei Yan Niao didn’t accept Li Dan Qi’s training fee and asked her to dry his hair.

Cheng Yi’s awake with amnesia. Fei Yan Niao brought Cheng Yi to Zheng Jia Ju’s shop to help Cheng Yi regain his memories.

Zheng Jia Ju thought Fei Yan Niao killed Cheng Yi. When Zheng Jia Ju and Cheng Yi reunited, she touched the scar on Cheng Yi’s face and believed he was alive.

Zheng Jia Ju asked Fei Yan Niao why Cheng Yi didn’t know who she was. Fei Yan Niao told her about Cheng Yi’s amnesia. Zheng Jia Ju begged Fei Yan Niao to let her take care of Cheng Yi. Fei Yan Niao hesitated and reasoned Zheng Jia Ju wasn’t coping taking care of herself and Cheng Yi’s baby so taking care of Cheng Yi would be a burden.

Zheng Jia Ju insisted she could help Cheng Yi regain his memories Fei Yan Niao agreed to let Cheng Yi stay with Zheng Jia Ju. Fei Yan Niao asked Cheng Yi to be Zheng Jia Ju’s bodyguard. Cheng Yi lost his memories, but subconsciously retained his fighting skills from years of being an a.s.sa.s.sin.

Zheng Jia Ju asked Cheng Yi to hold her hand and walk her to her house. Cheng Yi hesitated, Zheng Jia Ju explained she was eight months pregnant and needed help to walk so she wouldn’t fall on the ground.

Three weeks later, Gu Jiao Wu finished working overtime. He was overworked and skipped meals to spend time with Xiao Bao so lately he had stomach aches.

On the way to the Gu Mansion, Gu Jiao Wu had a stomach ache and stopped by a pharmacy shop near a hotel. He got out of his car and noticed a man was pulling a disorientated Li Lam into the hotel. He crossed the road and confronted the man.

‘Where are you taking her?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.

‘Who are you?’ the man asked. ‘Why are you interfering in another’s person’s business?’

‘I want to go home…’ Li Lam mumbled in her drunken state.

‘She’s my friend,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.

‘She’s my wife,’ the man said.

Gu Jiao Wu pulled Li Lam to his side.

‘Do you know who I am?’ the man asked.

‘I don’t care who you are, you can’t take advantage of a drunk woman,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.

‘Do you want to die?’ the man asked.

The man aimed a punch at Gu Jiao Wu’s face, Gu Jiao Wu dodged the punch and kicked the man to the ground.

It was night time, Gu Jiao Wu couldn’t take Li Lam to the Gu Mansion. He didn’t want w.a.n.g Tu Da to misunderstand him and Li Lam were in a relationship. He had no choice but to book a hotel room for the drunk Li Lam.

Gu Jiao Wu dropped Li Lam on the bed in a hotel room. He turned around to leave, but Li Lam’s face looked too much like Chu Da. He heard Li Lam vomit and decided to stay until she woke up. He helped take off her soiled clothes and dropped her on the bed. Then he ordered dinner and ate. After dinner, Li Lam still didn’t wake up. He couldn’t stand the alcohol stench on his clothes, showered and was too tired to drive so he slept on the sofa.

In the morning, Li Lam woke up and saw Gu Jiao Wu sleeping on the sofa but she was naked on the bed.

‘Ah…’ Li Lam screamed and pulled the bedsheet over her body.

Gu Jiao Wu was awoken by Li Lam’s scream.

‘You… what did you do to me?’ Li Lam asked.

‘I didn’t do anything to you,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. He was still dressed in the same business suit since last night and wanted to go home to change before going back to work. ‘Last night you were drunk.’

‘I… I was drunk?’ Li Lam asked. Li Lam had a headache and she couldn’t remember clearly what happened last night. ‘I don’t remember meeting you last night… you took advantage of me.’

Gu Jiao Wu stood and looked at Li Lam coldly.

‘I took advantage of you?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked. ‘Didn’t you say you’re Chu Da? If you’re Chu Da then why would I need to take advantage of you?’

‘I… that’s right, I’m Chu Da,’ Li Lam said. ‘But you don’t believe me so you can’t sleep with me.’

‘Of course I don’t believe you’re Chu Da,’ Gu Jiao Wu said and towered over Li Lam.

‘You…’ Li Lam said.

Li Lam was about to slap Gu Jiao Wu’s face, but he grabbed her arm faster.

‘Where is Chu Da?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.

‘I am Chu Da,’ Li Lam said. She changed tactics and tossed the bedsheet aside. ‘So if you want to sleep with me, go ahead.’

Gu Jiao Wu let go of Li Lam’s arm, turned around and looked out the window.

‘Last night while you were drunk, a man was taking you into the hotel,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘You kept saying you wanted to go home. I didn’t know where you live so I booked a hotel room for you. You should be grateful I intervened.’

Gu Jiao Wu adjusted his clothes, walked to the door and left the room without looking back.

Li Lam was embarra.s.sed and frustrated she couldn’t remember clearly. She got out of bed and looked for her clothes. She found her clothes covered in vomit on the bathroom floor, and realised why Gu Jiao Wu took off her clothes.

Li Lam was embarra.s.sed she wrongly accused Gu Jiao Wu. She walked to the phone to call room service to bring new clothes for her but a hotel maid walked into the room.

‘Miss, I brought your clothes,’ the maid said.

‘My clothes?’ Li Lam asked. She looked at the expensive white outfit and white underwear. ‘Who asked you to bring the clothes to me?’

‘A man,’ the maid said and pa.s.sed the clothes to Li Lam.

‘Thank you,’ Li Lam said.

The maid left and Li Lam looked closely at the clothes.

‘Ah…’ Li Lam cried out.

How did Gu Jiao Wu know Li Lam’s small bra and underwear size? Why did he help her buy clothes and underwear? She dressed and couldn’t stop thinking about Gu Jiao Wu. If he believed she was Chu Da then why did he keep his distance from her? She was curious about him and wanted to be close to him.

At the Qiao Mansion, Qiao Tan Yuan woke up early. It was Xiao Bao’s one month milestone. Mrs Qiao suggested to book a lavish restaurant for Xiao Bao, but she declined. She thought Xiao Bao was still young and wouldn’t be comfortable being held by people Xiao Bao never met before. She was happy to have a small family meal with Xiao Bao.

Mrs Qiao didn’t insist on a lavish celebration, because she didn’t want people to look down on the divorced Qiao Tan Yuan and the fatherless Xiao Bao.

Mrs Chu bathed and dressed Xiao Bao in new clothes. She hooked the cute customized gold bracelets Mrs Qiao bought for Xiao Bao around Xiao Bao’s small wrists.

A while later, Qiao Tan Yuan held Xiao Bao who was smiling and her big baby eyes looked in all directions.

‘Tan Yuan,’ Shen Cheng called.

Qiao Tan Yuan turned around and saw Shen Cheng.

Shen Cheng stood in front of Qiao Tan Yuan and looked at Xiao Bao’s adorable small round face smiling.

‘Xiao Bao looks really happy today,’ Shen Cheng said. ‘Uncle hopes Xiao Bao will always be happy and carefree.’

Qiao Tan Yuan accepted a small box from Shen Cheng. She didn’t expect Shen Cheng would buy Xiao Bao… a set of keys.

‘What is this?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.
