Volume 3 – When he bravely forged ahead on the sea waves
Chapter III (Part 2) The rude and arrogant mermaid princess
“I never thought that this fox girl will also turn out to be a sacred sacrifice. How amusing!” The mermaid princess viciously laughed: “A fox beauty can fetch about 5000 gold coins in a human country on the Qin Mainland. And the ones who also hold the t.i.tle of sacrifice should fetch even higher prices. You tell me, why shouldn’t I catch you alive and sell you to those evil humans?”
Hailun’s body was slightly trembling but she still remained proud while staring stubbornly at the mermaid princess’s face, smiling maliciously at them.
“Then what about me?” Liu Zhenhan asked while pointing at his gigantic nose: “Can you also sell me in your brothels as a gigolo?
“Pigman sacrifice…” The mermaid princess frowned, “you don’t seem like an educated aristocrat from your tone!”
“What you’re saying is not wrong, you see I really have not yet won the t.i.tle of n.o.bility.” Liu Zhenhan himself admitted.
“I really cannot imagine that even if coming from the most beautiful fox tribe of Qiu Mainland, you would fancy a lazy, greedy, ugly and gluttonous pigman like him. I agree that he is a sacrifice, so what? You beast people are as vulnerable in my eyes vulnerable as fragile sh.e.l.ls, why would you defy my will? Why?” The voice of the mermaid princess sounded unreal, full of a strange and alluring charm.
“Is pig race really so disappointing and disgusting?” Liu Zhenhan poked his chest and said: “Royal Princess, do not let your sober vision be deceived by my ordinary semblance. I understand that you come from the great sea kingdom but why do you so arbitrarily look down on the faithful servants of the War-G.o.d Campas?”
“Are you perhaps daring to challenge the sea clan fighters, considered the strongest in the entire world?” The mermaid princess seemed to be getting more and more interested in her prey. Even the tiger shark knights issue a wanton laughter in response.
“We have a proverb in our Beamon Kingdom,” Liu Zhenhan racked his brain to make up something presentable and said: “G.o.d of War has given us humility but does not tell us to regard ourselves as weak. He has taught us to believe that we are not above or beneath any individual.”
“Challenging the strong, whether it brings victory or failure, is the glory of each Beamon warrior.” Hailun coldly said.
“Stupid sacrifices,” said the mermaid princess, obviously enraged by their response, “Richard, you go teach them a lesson and fix their ignorance and arrogance to show them what it means to be truly powerful.”
One of the magical shark knights lifted his fork-shaped bone spear and communicated with the tiger shark he was riding to move toward the raft. There was a crazy look in his eyes, giving a clear indication of his violent character. The bulging muscles all over his body were a.s.sociated with his destructive power.
(TL note: The Chinese version of this knight’s name is Lichade but it is pretty obvious that the author intends for this name to sound like its English version, Richard. And since our MC has the name Li Cha, I guess I should use Richard for the knight to avoid confusing readers.)
“Oh really, you want me to fight just one guy?” Liu Zhenhan waved his hand and said: “You all can come at me together.”
“Arrogant and ignorant, you beast people are truly idiots!” The shark knight replied in a thunderous voice, “I, the shark knight Richard, will you tear you into shreds and eat your meat in dinner. Of course, your little magic pet can serve as my snack after dinner!
“Yeah, yeah, whatever man.” Liu Zhenhan asked: “After I beat you, your friends are anyway going to come at me for revenge, right? I am saying this for your own good.”
“Shut up!” The mermaid princess just lost it and shouted: “You stupid terrestrial creature! You are as ignorant as your incompetent G.o.d! As long as you are able to defeat my knight, Richard, I will let both of you go. Afterward, no one from the sea race will be allowed to stand in your way!”
Yes, these were the words he was waiting for. Liu Zhenhan had used a very simple tactic of playing a foolish character while manipulating the enemy into making a bet, a bet that appears to be in favor of the enemy but lies in his favor from the very beginning. All the while, there was a touch of light expression on his face with no signs of a dark plan being woven inside his mind.
Richard took a vertical leap from the back of the seahorse and landed on the raft. The relatively small raft shook violently due to the impact from his huge stature.
“Go ahead, pigman, make your magical beast pet attack me.” Richard threw away the fork-shaped bone spear that landed on the back of his companion. He rubbed his webby palms and laughed at Liu Zhenhan as if mocking him.
Other shark knights also laughed insolently.
“Clownfish!”
“Ha ha! Go hide in a sh.e.l.l or something!”
“I think he is just a shrimp that knows how to play in shallow water.”
The scene was riddled with wild laughter, abuses, and ridicule, all aimed at Liu Zhenhan.
Hailun was also completely enraged by the mermaid princess’ phrase “You are as ignorant as your incompetent G.o.d”. She was literally fuming with anger. The flame of her anger was literally fueled by the mermaid’s princess’ overgrown arrogance.
But her anger was immediately replaced by worry when a grandiose shark night appeared in front of them. In fact, he was so big and bulky that he actually dominated a majority of s.p.a.ce on the raft by just standing there. His ferocious facial expression was fairly complimenting his domineering presence.
The horrifying legends of sea race had existed in a wide range of records on Qiu Mainland since times immemorial. 2000 years ago, an outstanding sea-mage led a team of sea people and did a detailed study on water magic. They subsequently developed supreme water spells but it took a long time for their army to learn and implement magic. After a long time of trial and error, they finally developed a method to survive on the land even after separating from seawater for long intervals. Now, the sea army was ready to invade the land.
The mere beginning of this war led to a ma.s.s-scale bloodshed, ultimately leading to the unification of humans and beastmen as well as elves and dwarves. Together, they fought and barely managed to defeat the sea army. The war finally came to an end but not before taking numerous innocent lives caused by the floods, which were actually manufactured by the sea race in order to invade Qin Mainland. Indeed, the sea race also lost a fair share of their people in the war.
The sea is vast and so is the sea kingdom with a lot of diversity and complexity, a number of biologically complex species thrive in the sea. There were wise species in the sea as well just like the wise humans of Qin Mainland.
If that sea magician had not been killed in the war by humans, then the sea race might have wiped out the entire Qin Mainland army.
Hailun clearly knew about the kind of strength these shark knights held. 2000 years ago in the war between land and sea, the warrior of Bulin clan const.i.tuted the main sea force. They had strong body, sharp teeth, and were truly hegemonic whether on ground or in water. Their powerful combat power was not something a pigman could take on. Only the most power elephant warriors or Bear warriors of Beamon Kingdom had strong physical capability to deal with magical shark knights.
Bulin shark knights did not just have tyrannical bodies, but also possessed innate water magic which was enough to instill fear in the hearts of their opponents. Personality wise, they were extremely aggressive, and once lost to a rival, one might even blow his body in a suicide attack.
It was a fact that Bulin shark warriors had left behind a deep trace behind, otherwise, they wouldn’t appear so frequently in the Beamon epics or in the human bard songs.
Hailun had no alternative but to be worried. Pigmen were not considered good at fighting, instead were famous for their intense love for food since childhood. Even though her Li Cha was a sacred sacrifice, practically speaking, he still didn’t stand a chance against a knight of Bulin clan who was not only superior in physical capabilities but also possessed magical superiority in the form of water magic. The gap between them was simply insurmountable. Of course, she knew about his newly obtained great strength but was it enough to face a magical shark knight?
Unlike other sacrifices, her Li Cha did not even have a magical pet to fight by his side. The only companion he had right now was a frost type Pichu beast that was considered an ordinary low-level magical beast. Fruit was more of an adopted son to him, not to mention his frost magic was not strong enough to be of any help.
However, Hailun did not get time to convey all these things to Liu Zhenhan because the battle between him and Knight Richard had already begun.
