“Soul chain battle song” was considered a very high-level battle song. Considering Hailun’s current song power, even if she was to learn and master this song, she wouldn’t be able to use it, let alone an apprentice sacred sacrifice like Liu Zhenhan who was under a curse that had considerably suppressed his song power.
This type of battle song basically had no significant military use in a large scale battle, but at a critical moment, it could definitely be used by a soldier to save a very important figure by sacrificing their own life. This was the reason why the King of Beamon Kingdom was always accompanied by several scepter sacrifices.
In every 20 years, almost 100 apprentice sacrifices are able to comprehend the song of natural evolution like Hailun did. However, this ratio had been same in the recorded history of thousands of years with not more than two exceptions who had managed to comprehend a higher-level battle song than natural evolution. Liu Zhenhan had now become an exception himself after having sung the battle song of soul chain. One must remember that considering the level of training he had received so far from his mentor, Hailun, he should belong to the lowest rank of wind language sacrifice. He was just an amateur who managed to somehow summon a magic pet, only to lose it right after that, then he experienced a rare event of ‘blood memorial curse’ that severely affected his song power, bringing down his singing effectiveness to only 20%.
Liu Zhenhan would never have imagined that while he was thinking of losing Hailun forever, something inside of him would be stimulated to the extent that his song ‘hair like blood’ would end up containing deep sorrow and a sense of sadness, giving it the property of the soul chain battle song.
Sacrificial battle songs in Beamon language had their own unique solemnity. If a person, who was not born as an inborn soul singer, was to sing a wrong syllable or word, it would make the battle song lose its effects and blessings completely. In other words, it was simply impossible for the song ‘hair like blood’ to have the same effect as the battle song of soul chain, which was especially written by great ancient sacrifices thousands of years ago. Liu Zhenhan would simply not believe this if he got to know that in order to produce an effect; a battle song was needed to be recited as it was, without skipping or changing the lyrics.
Liu Zhenhan still did not know that the ‘psychic battle song’ he had sung to turn the giant black turtle into his magic pet shouldn’t have worked at all in reality. This was the reason why Hailun always said that the War-G.o.d Campas loved him very much. According to what Hailun had said earlier, a battle song when sung wrongly wouldn’t cause any rebound, unlike magic spells.
Therefore, it came as a pleasant surprise to Liu Zhenhan when he found out that the song he sang for his dying beloved to fulfill her dying wish, actually saved her life.
He had indeed seen the golden light pattern floating on the raft but he was too sad and dejected to understand what was going on back then. Now that Hailun explained it to him, he finally realized that she had been saved by a miracle caused by his song that actually ended up being a high-level battle song for some reason.
“Soul chain?” Liu Zhenhan indeed felt his body having turned a bit heavier than before and his spirit felt a bit slow and idle. He immediately understood that this was because his spirit energy was being shared with Hailun.
“This is indeed a miracle! I cannot believe this!” Hailun exclaimed. Although she still seemed a bit weak, one could see the bright smile on her face and an apparent excitement in her eyes. Liu Zhenhan now possessed the great strength of a Yalong beast in his body and since a part of it was instilled into her body via soul chain, she no longer felt like suffocating. In fact, now she had enough energy to walk, eat and drink.
“When we were crossing the Kunlun angled strait, I saw gigantic statues on both sides. At that time, I pledged that if the G.o.d of this world will restore my Hailun back to health, I will forever believe in him!” Liu Zhenhan said: “Alright, I will become a faithful servant of Boss Campas!”
“You pledged to the G.o.d of War ~ ~ ~ ~!” Hailun exclaimed: “You are an inborn soul singer, how can you still have doubts about the teachings of War-G.o.d Campas?”
“Hailun….” Liu Zhenhan thought for a second then asked: “In this world, has anyone of you seen G.o.d with their own eyes? Has anyone met G.o.d in this world?”
He didn’t wait for her reply and laughed, interrupting her from replying. He didn’t need her answers to the questions he already knew the answers for.
Belonging to the stupid clan of pigman? Being an in inborn soul singer? Cursed by his first magic pet that led to him losing 80% of his song power? Then suddenly being able to sing a high-level battle song without knowing anything about it? First becoming a sacred sacrifice with a weak body then getting cursed to gain the great strength of a Yalong beast?
Liu Zhenhan himself was dazzled by the number of unique statuses sticking to his existence in this world.
Hailun just couldn’t conceal her surprise, happiness and the ecstasy of getting a new chance to live alongside her Li Cha. Liu Zhenhan also had no time to think about other things and tightly hugged Hailun. Both of them wanted to cherish this moment and celebrate.
However, there sounded a burst of melodious harp sound all of a sudden while a natural and soothing singing voice of a woman resounded everywhere. The freshness and sweetness in her song were contrasting with occasional high-pitched notes in her song. The vibrations in her voice were shaking the air, giving the impression of a boundless mirage in the sea. Her breathtaking voice was capable of capturing a person’s heart and soul. Gentle at first, then suddenly naughty, then lofty, her singing style was strange yet elegant. The way she was pouring so many emotions in her song was astonishing. Liu Zhenhan felt like he would go insane if he continued to listen to this song which was tightly seizing his state of mind.
If Hailun’s songs were pure and devout, this song had little to no lyrics in comparison and could still bewitch you. It was as if this woman was whispering a lullaby though it seemed to contain an evil charm, capable of entrapping souls.
The raft was surrounded by a gentle halo coming out of legendary luminous pearl. They were quietly drifting forward while there was a black protuberance not far from them which seemed like a reef, wrapped in dense fog.
With Liu Zhenhan’s support, Hailun somehow stood up with her legs still trembling due to weakness. There was a solemn look on her face as she was focusing on that mysterious song and looking in the reef’s direction.
As the raft slowly approached the black reef, it was finally illuminated by the luminous pearl, revealing the figure of a beautiful girl sitting on the reef and playing the harp. There was a crystal crown on her head and was giving off a gorgeous reflection under the glow of the luminous pearl.
This girl’s lower body was in the form of a huge fish tail and her beautiful wet hair was golden yellow in color.
Her skin looked like it was molded from purest milk and her lips were like rose petals, her eyes as deep and blue as the sea water. The locks of golden hair were hanging down on the front, covering her two mystical objects completely, but her ambiguous beauty was enough to give an infinite scope to the imagination.
“Li Cha, it seems like we are really out of luck.” Hailun smiled at Liu Zhenhan though mournfully, “We have b.u.mped into a mermaid from the royal mermaid clan of the sea race.”
Liu Zhenhan’s pupils narrowed. Mermaid! Royal Clan of the sea race! The most hated creatures in the sea with human-like traits! They were basically the humanity of the sea, the clan that dominated over other sea creatures by relying on their intellect and wisdom! They were also inborn water magicians!
This mermaid was gently fiddling with her fingers and playing the crystal harp while whispering a continuous string of syllables from her mouth to produce the very sound of nature. Her eyes were closed as if not at all paying attention to the raft.
Liu Zhenhan silently picked up a long bamboo stick and truncated its tip to give it the same of a spear-tip. There was a residual black bloodstain on this bamboo stick, most likely a legacy left behind by that foolish tiger shark.
Liu Zhenhan did not mind losing a few drops of his human blood into the sea water while checking the sharpness of his makeshift spear.
Liu Zhenhan was standing tall and strong in the raft while a strong wind was blowing against his face, making his long hair dance wildly.
Hailun’s eyes could not conceal a look of surprise in them when she saw that her usually laughing and jolly Li Cha had as if completely transformed into another person.
His sharp eyes were similar to the eyes of an ancient general from the mythical war era of G.o.ds and devils. His devilish gaze was like a sharp spear as if piercing the vault of heaven.
(TL Note: As mentioned in previous chapters, devils existed in this world in ancient times. They were said to have characteristic black hair. According to Hailun, devils haven’t been seen in this world for thousands of years but she had her doubts about Liu Zhenhan being a devil because of his black hair.)
