Ariana trembled as she watched the claw like hand inch towards her own left hand. She quickly shut her eyes and looked within herself. She ran up to the podium and jumped onto the gla.s.s like, cube prison that kept Andesine locked away. She pounded with all her might, trying to break Andesine free. Tears streamed down her face as the sides of her fists ripped apart. Blood splatters were added to to cube every time Ariana struck. Andesine turned around and saw the blood pooling and Ariana's face. Her eyes turned big and round as she watched. She then shook off her shock and steeled her resolve.
Andesine started to slam her red starburst body against the walls. Even with both of them attacking the prison their strength wasn't enough. "Help! Please someone help!" Ariana cried out as she slammed her fists one last time against the prison. The strike did nothing, her legs buckled and she dropped to her knees. Ariana looked up and saw that Charoite, Celestine and Howlite were looking at her with concern. "It has to be Andesine... If I use any of you that thing could absorbe you... Water to increase his size, darkness to increase his strength and light to provide him the energy he needs.... I don't know what to do. I don't want to lose you." Ariana said pitifully.
Charoite started to morph with every bounce he made. Shifting like he was trying to communicate something. With every shape he made Ariana felt that he looked somewhat familiar. Then it hit her, she knew what he was trying to say but how many times had she called out to the shadows she never got an answer. Ariana stretched upwards and caught the podium. She struggled to pull herself upwards as she did her whole body suddenly pulsed. Ariana screamed in agony as she fell on to the ground. Her breathing started to become strained. Her vision started to blur but she managed to see her tiny starbursts run on top of the podium with concern. Ariana closed her eyes and when she opened them again she saw that the indigo mist creature had sunken his teeth into her left hand.
The pain was nothing she had ever felt before. Something was definitely wrong, Ariana let out a blood curdling scream. The creature put more pressure on her hand and Ariana started screaming even more. Her vision blurred with tears but she forced herself to look at the creature, he was definitely sucking something out of her body as swirls of golden light mixed around his face before disappearing. Ariana moved her gaze to the stream of blood running out of her hand. It wasn't coming to life, she didn't see any vines or hard pieces of garnet forming.
She needed to break free but the creature had a good grip on her wrist and neck. She was losing strength fast and the creature started to form more of a physical body as time ticked by. "STOP IT!" She screamed desperately but her voice had gone hoa.r.s.e from the screams prior. The creature moved his red eyes upwards, a m.u.f.fled laughed escaped as he looked at Ariana's face. "Please." She whispered. The creature opened his mouth slowly, fangs lifted from Ariana's hand before he completely let her hand go.
The creature now had arms and a torso, he couldn't hide his excitement from finding something that could help him materialize. "You have a special magic." He sang with a light chuckle. Ariana could feel her stomach turn. The threat of vomiting was imminent. She swallowed back and dared to look the creature in its eyes. "I feed you.... Answer two questions." She said as she tried to keep a poker face but her tears wouldn't stop falling.
"Mmmmh. It seems fair." The creature said as a row of fangs retracted into his slit mouth. "What are you and why do you need magical energy?" Ariana asked cautiously but the creature seemed to not care what she asked and just smiled. "What I am is hunger. I am gluttony. I make my partner stronger. His body is so weak, so frail how can he survive without me? His family said so, that I was needed so he needs me but I need my hunger feed. He's done a poor job of feeding me and I can't come out if I'm not feed." The creature said matter-of-factly.
"You want to come out?" Ariana asked. The creature opened its mouth wide and in one swift movement he sunk his fangs into Ariana's left shoulder. Ariana screamed weakly. Her strength left her completely as she started to fall downwards. "Nooooo!" She heard someone yell as footsteps pounded the ground. The creature kept Ariana pinned to the ground as he sucked fiercely. A pink and orange blur past in front of Ariana's eyes before a burning sensation urged her body to arch upwards in pain. "Hold on!" A male voice called out but Ariana couldn't focus. Her body turned feverish as her breathing became erratic. She turned her head to her shoulder and her eyes grew wide in horror. A chunk of her flesh was missing.
She heard someone yelling as flashes of pink and orange sliced the air. "You should have never ditched me!" The male voice yelled as he started to press a ball of cloth against Ariana's wound. Ariana's blood instantly started to soak into the cloth staining it a dark red. "Vasu?" Ariana called out as she watched the lights move around sporadically. 'Die!' She heard Vasu yell as he continued his attacks. "Vasu, it hurts so much." Ariana called out with great strain. "Guys she's burning up! What do I do?! What do I do!!!" The male voice called out to the lights.
