Xiao Yang had secluded himself in his bedroom this whole time, ever since he got back from the valley, he had completely exhausted himself and acc.u.mulated a large amount of fatigue.
Fortunately, the school holiday wasn't over yet so he still had some times to rest it out, otherwise, he probably would have had to skip all his lessons, and such behaviour would have been unacceptable in Thunderbolt Academy.
Even though he hadn't been outside for an entire week, he was still able to gather news and intel to update himself with what was happening outside through his communication stone.
The communication stone allows him to connect and access the vast amount of networks that are available, some networks allow you to advertise the item you wanted to sell and the location for meet up, there are also social networks that allow you to connect with other users.
Thanks to this, Xiao Yang was able to found out that the incident from the Thunder Valley was now a hot topic among the social networks. Many people were discussing what happened to Thunder Valley.
The large explosion from Thunder Valley had caused the very foundation of the valley to become unstable and few days after that, the entire valley crumbled into dust, the valley was now described to be a wasteland and the thick is that originally covered the valley was now slowly dissipating.
"I went to check the valley out yesterday, discovered a ma.s.sive crater!"
'What could have caused such destruction?'
'From what I heard, the SSS-Cla.s.s mage entered the valley and about half an hour later, the explosion suddenly shook the entire region. So it's likely that SSS-Cla.s.s mage.'
"SSS-Cla.s.s mage...? Is it the same guy for fought the Tai Empire and forced them to pay compensation tot he villagers?"
"Who exactly is he?"
Many speculated the ident.i.ties of the unknown SSS-Cla.s.s mage but none of them was able to find out any leads. Some even speculated that he was the Grandelder of Thunderbolt Academy, but that was quickly dropped since the Grandelder wields the power of lightning and from what they saw, the ma.s.sive crater was created by raw strength, something that only mages with elemental power such as Iron Body could do.
Qian Fei and the others sent Xiao Yang a private message to ask about why he hadn't been out for the whole week, and Xiao Yang just replied saying that he is busy studying martial art for the upcoming mock exam.
After the battle with that Three-Eyed Lion King, Xiao Yang had accidentally stumbled onto a new discovery regarding the usage of the Divine Revolver. Unlike most ordinary elemental weapons, the Divine Revolver has the ability to retain the mana that was stored in it, while the user's mana still could get replenish over time. He discovered this after finding out that the bullet that was left from the last battle was still stored in the rifle, what's more, the man didn't decrease over time and kept its full power.
Since then Xiao Yang had been loading up the revolver with bullets that are stored with the maximum allowed mana capacity, but he only stored six fully powered bullet and left two slots empty so that he could freely choose how much mana he want to put in them since the only way to get rid of them is to shoot it out and the user could not reabsorb the mana.
...
Thunderbolt Academy a.s.sembly Ground.
The holiday was over and the student immediately went back to the academy to gather up for the mock exam.
The elders in charge of the outer-disciples began to explain the rules to the student.
The mock exam composed of three stages.
The first stage is the elemental knowledge test, its a written knowledge test to find out the individual student's understanding in a particular element. The student must not choose the elements that they currently wield, but a different element that they should have started to study.
The second stage is beast hunting, the students would have to hunt down a specific amount of beasts to be considered a pa.s.s, and the elemental cores will be used as evidence of a kill. Students would have to go through an array to make sure they didn't bring any elemental cores beforehand.
The third stage is the tournament compet.i.tion. Mages who wield none destructive elemental power such as healing would compete with other mages with a none destructive elemental power, its to compete against one's martial arts with others.
Failing one of the stages will not result in immediate failure and the student will still be able to advance to the next stage.
"Isn't it unfair to allow elemental tools?" Qian Fei asked, sounded a little bit frustrated.
Elemental tools such as elemental armours and weapons are allowed in the second and third stage of the exam. This means that these from the rich family who could afford elemental tools would have a greater advantage.
"I agree." Fang Qiong nodded.
"The world was never fair in the first place." Xiao Yang coldly replied.
Qian Fei and the others instantly understood him, as unfair as it may be, it was the truth. In a real battle, your enemy wouldn't just restrain themselves from using their elemental tools just because you don't have one since their very life it at state. This was exactly what the academy wanted to tell them, it's best to let them face reality sooner than later.
The poor get poorer and the rich will just get richer after all this was a world where the strong rules over the weak.
