A Hero's Multiverse 16 Chapter 15: Larger Threa

While Ethen is somehow resetting the Universe, he fought and beat Knull in, in another Multiverse [DC Multiverse], a sinister dark force is already aware of him. As the malignant force also known as 'the Darkness', a ma.s.s of pure negativity is currently approaching an elderly, blind and hooded figure.

''What do you want from me Darkness?...'' The hooded figure asks the Darkness. ''... The Garden of Forking Ways is no your domain!''

Smiling the Darkness says.''Nice to see you too, Destiny of the Endless, carried the Book of Souls.''

Ignoring his greeting the elderly figure asks angrily. ''I don't like to repeat myself! What do you want?''

Surprised by the old men outburst the Darkness asks. ''Shouldn't you already know that?''

'' Too much going on. How am I supposed to know which version of yourself you are?...'' States Destiny. ''... Also half of the Book of Souls has already rewritten itself. Something or someone is messing with me.''

''So you felt it too?'' Asks the Darkness.

Still, angry Destiny shots at the Darkness who wouldn't all of us multidimensional beings felt that! Now be gone... I have work to do?''

''What is this disturbance? Is it a child of Destiny?...'' Asks the Darkness, not letting go of the opportunity to learn more about the current situation. ''... Or was it the Presence?''

Without giving the Darkness an answer, Destiny opens his Book of Souls, apparently deciding to ignore his unwanted guest.

''You can't do this!...'' Shouts the Darkness, angry about the fact, that the old man is ignoring him. ''... Fine, I will get the answers myself!''

That said the Darkness invades the old man's body, taking full possession over his body.

Feeling the old man's mind resist his a.s.sault, the Darkness is still able to to take possession of his body. As Destiny is the personification of destiny and the oldest of the Endless, the Darkness didn't really expect to be able to take over his mind. Having taken over the man's body, the Darkness is technically now possession of the Book of Souls, since it is chained to Destinies right wrist.

This way, the Darkness is able to at least read up on all past, present, and future events inside his Multiverse. Reading up on future events, it swiftly concludes that the Presence must be really eager to anger everybody, as it apparently allowed somebody aside from himself without a destiny to exist.

Closing the Book of Souls, the Darkness decides to let its son handle this larger threat first before taking actions himself.

While the Darkness starts plotting against Ethen, the man in question is blissfully unaware of it, as he witnesses something incredible. Right in front of him, a universe collapses into itself. At the start of it, Ethen already took possession of Knull's replacement sword, as the blue glowing blade piqued his interest.

Now, while holding the shrunken blade in hand, he is witnessing a universe starting to compress into a single point. Feeling the pressure build up, Ethen retreats back into the Multiverse Gate. Lucky for him, he does that just in time, because just as he has pa.s.sed through it, the Gate is forcefully closed.

''What the h.e.l.l did you do?'' Scolds Deadpool him, the moment the Gate is forcefully closed.

''I don't know...'' Confesses Ethen, still holding the Odinsword. ''... There was this voice in my had and...''

''I don't care about you hearing voices...'' Interrupts the skull him. ''... Do you have what we need to make your armor or not?!''

''s.h.i.t! I forgot that!..'' Ethen remembers leaving behind the black orb.

(???) ''Primordial Symbiotic Metal has been stored. Does Host want to retrieve [Primordial Symbiotic Metal (refined)]?''

''... What? Who are you?'' Asks Ethen, once again surprised by the voice of his savior.

Seeing his friend apparently losing his mind, Deadpool only rolls his eyes, thinking. -Now it is happening... Another hero becomes enlightened by insanity... Great. Maybe I from now on I will not be the only person labeled insane!...- Spotting Ethen's ring glow, he says. ''Hey look! Your ring is glowing!''

Hearing Pool says that Ethen looks down at the ring on his finger. For once the symbol on it is easily recognized. -White Lanter Corps?!-

Seeing and recognizing the symbol Pool still placed on the altar instantly scream. ''The Green Lanter movie wasn't my fault! It was all 's.e.xiest Man Alive' Ryan Raynolds fault! Back then he was young and needed the money!''

Wanting to ask the skull what he is talking about, Ethen suddenly hears the voice again.

(???) ''Destiny awaits... 'The Brightest Day rises into the skies,... As life grows all darkness dies... As death rises so does Live... and so by my black hand, Live shall rise!'*... Initialising User Interface...''

As the light on Ethen's silver ring suddenly dims down, Wade asks. ''What the h.e.l.l going on?''

Looking at the ring on his right hand's middle finger Ethen tells him. ''Well I guess I am a White Lantern!''

(???) ''... Statement inaccurate...''

While Ethen has to make sense of his situation, the Darkness still possessing Destiny arrives at the Citadel, better known as the Legion of Super-Heroes Headquarters, right in front of his son Hunter Prince.

''What?...'' Hunter screams, surprised by the man's sudden appearance, as he was sharpening his mother's blade 'G.o.ds Slayer'. ''... Who are you what do you want?''

''I am Destiny!'' The Darkness tells Hunter.

Irritated by 'Destinys' sudden appearance, Hunter sheaths his sword, saying. ''I have nothing to do with you... So what do you want from me?''

''The natural order is being disturbed...'' Proclaims the Darkness to Hunter. ''... I have chosen you as my Champion! The Champion of Destiny!''

''Yes, yes, blablabla!...'' Hunter says having no respect for people that like to hold long speeches instead of giving quick to the point answers. ''... I say again what do you want?!''

''I want you to travel beyond this Multiverse and hunt the disturbance of destiny!...'' Darkness tells the young man. ''... Hunt it down and give me whatever causes the disturbance...''

''Why should I help you?...'' Asks Hunter not wanting to work for free. ''... Aside from a t.i.tle, I didn't ask for, what can you offer me?''

Irritated by his own son's apparent reluctance to do 'Destinys' bidding, the Darkness tells Hunter. ''I can offer you a great adventure through a universe different from this one... I can offer you the chance to become the greatest Hero ever... I can offer you a chance to slayer the destroyer of two universes!''

Tipping his fingers on his blade, Hunter says. ''I am listening...''

As time goes by, Darkness convinces Hunter to do his bidding by he telling Hunter the 'Deamon's (Ethen's) evil deeds.

Before long, Hunter eager to slay the 'Deamon', asks. ''So now tell me how do I travel to this 'Other Multiverse'? Can you simply transport me there or what?''

''I am Destiny, not an Uber driver!...'' Says the Darkness, knowing that the true Destiny might as well be one since his domain is the Garden of Forking Ways connecting past, present, and future with each other. ''... You will have to use the Legions Miracle Machine to create a device enabling you to reach that 'Other Multiverse'.

''Miricle Machine?'' Asks Hunter not knowing what the old man wearing a hood is talking about.

Happy to learn that the Legion of Super-Heroes didn't tell his son about their little secret, the Darkness is happy to enlighten him and sow the seed of distrust in the young man's mind...
