Chapter 4

“Suria, can I have a bit of your time?”

“What is it? Chichi-sama.” (TL: Dear Father)

I tilted my head to father who suddenly appeared while I was sorting doc.u.ments in the library. My hair fell down on my shoulder which I tied up like a bun while working.

Father who was wearing a formal coat with eye gla.s.s came to me with with a smile then started grinning wide while talking. He is emitting an energetic aura with seemingly blooming flowers around him, he is a respectable father which the feudal lord trusted and was reffered as an “abled person“.

….. And from time to time, sometimes an idiotic parent.

“Master called out for Suria. I’ll sort out the doc.u.ments for you, and head to the office immediately.”

“Master ?”

Speaking of the main mansion’s master, he is the feudal lord that manages this territory in the kingdom of Allevel which prides on it’s excellent crop productions and security level, Lord Georg Allevel.

“Yes. There is some good news for Suria. Ahhh, as expected of my daughter. What a wondrous thing.”

“U, Ummm…?”

“You can ask the master for the details.”

I wonder why I am getting pushed out of the library without being told of the details while father is full of smiles.

I fixed my disheveled hair before heading to the feudal lord’s office.

I, Suria Varette has turned 18 years old, took an apprenticeship on the feudal lord’s mansion. I helped my dear father during his retainer’s duties, sometimes I help on the maid’s daily tasks, it’s always busy but I spend my days in fulfilment.

………..I maybe on this age but I don’t have anyone whom I can call a lover.

Since I cut off my relationship with “that person“, their is no such lingering feelings of wanting to find a man as handsome as that person. There is not even a “fe” from the word feelings. I won’t even care if he called out to me “Suu, I’m dying! I’m dying!”

Even though I don’t have someone whom I call a lover, there are some people who I consider as good friends and called me out from time to time.

“Hey Suu. Are you going to the “feudal lord” right now? Can I also go with you and listen to the talk?”

“Well, the master might be glad to have you come listen to the discussions with him.”

“Eh?”

I was walking on the corridor.

Around the empty corridor, a distortion on the air happened and what appeared was a water spirit called “Uor“, a friend of mine.

It is floating in the air, he had an appearance of a fox, with long pointed ears and pale blue fluffly fur. Tails that looked like a broom with a transparent like water appearance, and when you pet its fur, instead of “fush~” like sound, it sounded like dripping water “plok“.

Almost every part of his body is composed of water, and had the ability manifest and control water.

———— “Spirits” are existence that can control nature.

An those people who can call upon spirits are referred to as “spirit users“.

Spirit users are people who have “spiritual mana” since birth, and by exercising that power, one can call upon a spirit and control its power.

I live on a small country being surrounded by mountains called “Naft Kingdom” where spirits have lived for over generations, and it is believed that the guardian of the land that the spirits revered gave the blessings to this country that in fact it became abundant on natural resources.

And the spiritual mana that a spirit user can muster depends on it’s relationships with the spirits.

“Well then that’s nice! After you’re done with your discussion with the feudal lord, let’s go out to eat sweets, Suu!”

“That’s no good. I’m not still finished with my duties.”

“That’s just stupid!”

“After I’m done, I’ll go take make Uor your favorite strawberry pie.”

Walt’s jade colored eyes sparkled and exclaimed “If that’s it, then good! It’s a promise!”, then hid his presence.

Since they are spirits, they do not need to consume human food but for some reason this spirit that I befriended is fond of eating sweets. Since now I can make sweets which I’m not used to make in the past.

I was 17 years old when my talent completely awakened.

During that time, Uor is the first spirit to call out to me.

Since a strong bond is needed between a spirit user and the spirit, communicating with another spirit seems to be impossible.

I who contracted Uor which is a water spirit is compatible with water element, and since he’s a water spirit, I can borrow his power and control water at will, but since Uor is the first spirit I befriended, I treated him as someone special.

As I’m recalling the recipe for the strawberry pie while walking along the corridor, I arrived and stopped in front of the place I’m heading to.

“Well then.”

I fixed my appearance once more then knocked on the door. Opening the door, I entered after hearing a dignified voice saying “Enter.”.

There are bookshelves surrounding the walls of the room. At the center was a small table with sofa’s in between.

There is a large window with the velvet curtains fluttering in front, then the figure of the master can be seen sitting elegantly on the sofa as he was illuminated by the sunlight.

Doc.u.ments are piled up on the side of his desk, it seemd that he’s on a break and there is a tea set and sweets (coincidentally it is strawberry pie) was served in front.

“I apologize for suddenly calling you Suria.”

“It’s fine, well then, what’s the matter?”

As soon as I came in, I directly ask for the main subject.

Even though it’s still daytime, the master’s expression seems to already tired as I came closer.

He had blue eyes and silver colored hair which was tied to his back. He is a middle-aged man with a composed look that’s emitting a calm aura as well as a sweet charm around him.

Even though is was known that master’s wife already pa.s.sed away, he still garnered fascinations from the group of ladies. I developed a slight trauma for good-looking guys thanks to “that person“.

The master is well known being called a wise feudal lord and also a spirit user like me. But it seemed that his ability as a spirit user is not that strong and wasn’t able to form a contract with a spirit but still somehow can feel its presence.

“I see. So there’s no other choice but go straight to the point.”

Then the master opened his lips and the words that came out from his mouth is something that I didn’t expect.

“———— Congratulations Suria. You are chosen as the “Spirit Princess” for this year.”

“Eh?”
