The Capital Arc Part 1

Chapter 10

By the next morning.

Reiss came to pick me up just as planned, he was not wearing the pure white vest attire. It was just a plain shirt and a brown vest atop it. He wore pants that are easy to move with and a black belt, wearing leather boots, it was a simple outfit. It seems that the only flashy thing he had is the well-proportioned sword hanging on his waist that indicates his position.

It seems like what the Knight Unit wore yesterday was an indication that they’re going to meet the Spirit Princess, and would be wearing this casual outfit from now on to avoid attention.

Thinking about travelling  beside the all splendid Reiss, what I wore was my somewhat elegant one-piece dress, and was agonizing on why did I choose an orange hue. I don’t want to lose on looks. I want to get changed.

But until we arrive at the capital, I won’t be able to change and I need to be shaken by an unfamiliar carriage on the way.

Reiss just glanced at my appearance once and didn’t say anything….. with cold-like eyes, so heartless.

The chest that I received from Rinze yesterday, I made sure to have properly placed it inside the carriage. I was send off with Licolla flowers that’s dyed with vivid red.

———— My journey to the capital has begun and it seemed that the end is still far.

There were no special happenings that occured on the way and have safely arrived at the capital. Ruvellia is the first city I visited, it was a beautiful city with roofs decorated in vibrant colors and road pavement made of cobblestone.

I got off the horse carriage and glanced at the surroundings, Reiss then told me「Don’t just look around」, and moved his long legs hurriedly. He distanced himself from others.

……Reiss already said『I don’t want to have anything to do with you more than what is intended』-like words, and during the travel, there was not much of conversation that occured.

Even for just from time to time, it was just practical things that are talked about, it felt just like biting words being thrown at me. It was only Urr that I talked to along the journey.

「Ne~e, Suu. I wonder what is that? I smell something delicious!  What are those things they’re playing? It looks interesting. I want to take a closer look. 」

It seems like Urr is more excited than expected. Uur is just like a newborn spirit, but it was also the same for me for this is my first time in the capital.

Following Urr who was looking from place to place, I b.u.mped into someone who was walking.

I hurriedly apologized, along with the spirit beside the person, the spirit then giggled and laughed at us.

It was a cat-like spirit with a fresh green fur and tails that’s intertwined with ivy vines, it was probably an earth spirit.

「Miss lovely Spirit User. Is this your first time in the capital? If so, I hope you find a a lovely encounter and memories.」

The earth spirit with the cat-like figure said with a voice that’s like a singing bell and left with its tail wiggling. The intertwining ivy shook along.

Then pink flower petal appeared out of nowhere and fell atop of my head.

It was a welcoming blessing that looked like a prank, but it eased my tension who was in an unknown place.

When I stopped my feet to watch the flower petals, Reiss who was walking ahead of me came back hurriedly.

He glared at me.

「……I told you not just to stand there. Hurry up or we’ll not make it in time to the church. Don’t just stand there.」

「I, I know that already! Its just a little spirit welcomed me with flowers……!」

「Flowers?」

Knitting his eyebrows, Reiss stared at me strangely.

At first I was screaming 「That’s right! Flowers!」in my chest, but thinking about it, was there really flowers? Thinking about it, I immediately fixed my hair and dress.

I was glad that I was welcomed with flowers but more of this I’m going to see Reiss’ aloof face turning into dissatisfaction with distortion.

……. That cold eyes that makes you freeze on the spot.

As soon as Reiss came closer, Urr was intimidating him while buzzling his ears. It was the same during the whole journey inside the carriage. Well Reiss can’t see or hear Urr anyway. From here on I will be going to the churche and practice the audience  with the Spirit Queen, I’m getting worried of what will happen.

In order to disperse my unease, I pinched the hem of the skirt.

Then from there Reiss kept on nagging me growling 「Hey」.

「What….is it…?」

「There are still petals sticking on your hair……..You’re just weirdly stinks as always. 」

Stopping before stepping in the stone pathway, Reiss stared at me wit widened eyes. With a face that’s expressionless as usual, it loosened a little bit.

My pale blue eyes widened with the sight of that expression on his face and words that was said.

『Suu, there are petals of Licolla flower on your head….. Somehow you weirdly stinks.』

A gentle sight, a memory that should’ve have been left behind in the past, came into me. I remembered that I used to do gardening when I was young. During that time, if I’m right, he took the flower petals off my hair that was sticking. I remember being surprised by his mindful actions contrary to his words.

———— For a moment.

The Reiss from before, and the current Reiss, their figure overlapped.

While I was frozen in bufflement, Reiss slowly reached his hand to me. However, when I noticed that, Reiss immediately retracted his hands away. And then his face distorted.

Reiss then clutched his hand tightly on his chest and only muttered 「Let’s go」then rushed into the crowd.

「D, Don’t suddenly change into being an escort!」

In a hurry, I chased after him with petals still sticking in my hair. While ignoring my complaints, the change that I got a glimpse of a while ago did not fade.

————Why, after all these years, you’re letting me see that expression.

I don’t like every little thing, I don’t want myself to get distracted.

I felt pathetic for being shaken by the past memories. That’s why Rinze got mad at me.

Get yourself together Suria,  I’m telling off myself inside my mind.

While hurriedly headed to the church, a single petal that danced into the air was left behind into the crowd.

And this we begin with a new arc, The Capital Arc.

While translating, I got mixed emotions happening inside me, I don’t know wether to get p.i.s.sed at Reiss or to have diabetus on Suria’s nostalgia. Seriously these two is makin it hard for me?
