When pain engulfed her entire body, Xia Man gritted her teeth.

She didn't care about anything. As long as she wasn't as useless as her previous self, even if she had to endure ten times the pain, she didn't care.

If it wasn't for the insignificant s.p.a.ce she had, if it wasn't for her previous self being so weak, she wouldn't have ended up dying in the apocalypse. As someone who came back from the apocalypse, she was determined to obtain power!

When the pain finally faded, Xia Man looked like she was just out of water, her entire body drenched. The pain of her past numbed her of the violent pain she felt.

Xia Man barely opened her eyes when she saw white flesh, then a chubby little face.

“Who are you?” Xia Man barely squeezed out a few words. Inside, she had a faint conjecture.

“Hey little girl. I'm your savior.” The soft and childish voice pa.s.sed through her ears. To prove he was older, he even patted her head. “Little girl, I'll help you get revenge!”

Xia Man barely stood up and looked at the little child with an oversized red ap.r.o.n. “You're the dragon?”

The child's eyes shone. “Indeed, I'm the great dragon!”

Xia Man gritted her teeth and looked at the child in front of her. “Why do I feel cheated?”

“Nonsense!” The child hurriedly shook his hands. “I didn't lie about anything! I'm the dragon, and the bead is very powerful.” He said looking down, afraid of looking at her in the eyes.

Xia Man had a terrible premonition. “Do you have anything to say?” She asked, extending her arm. On her wrist formed a green totem. If it wasn't because she didn't feel any flow of energy, she wouldn't have called him out!

“That…” The child felt bitter. “Don't look at me like that! That totem is a powerful thing, really! Have you ever heard of the wood ability?”

Of course Xia Man knew of it. After the beginning of the apocalypse, people cla.s.sified offensive abilities into wind, thunder, ice, and wood. Originally, the wood ability wasn't included, since, at first, the wood ability was a jilei*. Wielders of the wood ability represented life, which is to say, they have zero lethality!

*鸡肋 (jīlèi; literal meaning chicken rib): something one is reluctant to let go even though it is of little to none value; useless or worthless.

It'd be fine if she hadn't heard about it. But now that she did, her face turned green. No offensive ability?! Is she a joke then? With no power for revenge nor lethality in the apocalypse, what was the point of her rebirth?!

"Don't worry! There are also vicious plants!" The little child felt the murderous intent Xia Man was emitting and immediately hugged her thigh. "That wood ability is the lethal type, so killing people won't be a problem at all!"

Xia Man didn't believe a word the chubby child said. From the thing about the dragon, not one was true!

Xia Man shifted her thought, and a green vine suddenly bound the chubby little child on the ground.

"Now you believe it!" The little child cried.

Xia Man controlled the thick vines with her wrist, putting the chubby child in a position where she can look directly at him. "Now tell me, what are your real intentions?"

At the beginning, the chubby child had pretended to be an old man, tricking her into eating the bead. Because of her pursuit of power and understanding of her past and the apocalypse, she had lowered her guard. The kid never said that he wasn't a kid, and he never said that she'd become like this if she swallows the bead.

Now that she figured this out, how could she possibly believe he had no other intentions?

Feeling a slight discomfort, he turned his body, a grin appeared on his face. "You shouldn't bully a child! I've never lied to you, what I said was all true!"

Seeing her frown, the boy quickly added, "You're not just going to abandon a little child in the wild, are you?"

Sweat started to drip from her forehead. Who was this child, really?

Hearing her thoughts, his smiling face immediately turned serious. "I'm a dragon from the East China Sea…"

"Focus!" Xia Man stretched out and pulled his big red ap.r.o.n. "Right, are you male or female?"

"Laozi* is female!" The little kid pulled her hair. "Let's just get to the point. I want you to take me out, and Laozi* will save the world!"

*劳资 (Láozī): Old master.

"She never thought that the little kid was actually a girl. The old voice she heard was clearly male, so of course she'd think it was male!

"Take you out?" Xia Man thought of the situation outside. After a few days, the plants and animals will mutate, humans will polarize, being either zombies or ability wielders. Ordinary people would only become slave for the latter if not food for the former!

Going with a child in the apocalypse? Absolutely not! Not to mention, there might not be any danger at first, but afterwards, when everyone else is thin and tanned, how was she supposed to explain how this chubby white kid was raised? Those people aren't fools, especially since they can still survive in the apocalypse!

When she saw Xia Man's expression, she knew she didn't want to. "If you abandon me, I'll ruin the s.p.a.ce so you can't use it at all!"

Xia Man looked at the face of the little child. She really felt that this kid can actually do it!

Xia Man, looks like she really got herself into trouble!

"If I don't get out, I won't be able to sense the destined prophecy. Do you really want the world to end again?

"Right, I haven't told you. After your death, the zombies occupied the world. Of course, the destruction of the world came not long after. Without the destined one, not even ability wielders will be able to wipe out the zombies. Can you even get your revenge with the world gone?" The little child tried to make a grieved expression, but only joy was visible instead.

Xia Man was utterly silenced. The child was telling the truth. Zombies advance much faster than abilities.

"After you get out, don't wander around or spout things without my permission!" Xia Man sighed, unable to say anything else.

The kid wanted to dance around in celebration, but found that she was still bound by the thick vines.

Xia Man took her out of the s.p.a.ce. She heard knocks on her door.

Xia Man frowned. Xiang Yang hadn't gone away yet?

"Manman?" It was Qu Zhen's anxious voice!

Xia Man looked at the chubby little girl in the big red ap.r.o.n. Seeing this, the little child immediately made a "don't abandon me" face. Xia Man immediately took a blanket from the sofa and threw it to her. "Cover yourself up!"

Xia Man was thinking about how to explain this girl.
