Xia Man aimlessly wandered. She couldn't understand whether the soft feeling under her feet was because of the gra.s.s field or something else.
After a few more steps, Xia Man felt strange. Not only did her foot not feel pain, it even slightly itched.
Xia Man squatted down and untied the gauze. What she saw surprised her. The cracked wounds on her foot was slowly healing.
What's stranger was, if it was the usual her, then she'd feel elated. She'd even jump in excitement if she could. But now, all she did was watch as the wound was gradually healed. Inside, she wanted to hide this fact.
Almost everybody knew her foot was untreatable. If her foot was suddenly healed when the apocalypse came, she'll bring trouble to Qu Zhen, just like her previous self. Xia Man sat on the field and thought about her previous life. The reason why Qu Zhen's family bracelet was exposed was because Qu Zhen used it to treat her foot.
Xia Man looked at her completely healed foot and she re-wrapped it with the gauze. She knew her s.p.a.ce had become like this because of the bracelet Qu Zhen gave her.
Xia Man still remembered how Qu Zhen gently put it on her and said, “The biggest mistake I've made in my entire life was not giving you this earlier.”
Xia Man knew it was her ancestral family's gift for their daughter-in-law.
When she came out, the sky was already dark, making the small room look gloomy.
Xia Man looked at the time. Right now, the school's evening party must've started.
Xia Man didn't go because not only did she need to buy supplies, there was also going to be a “play” around this hour. If she wasn't there, how will the “play” go, she wondered.
Xia Man walked into the kitchen. The right foot she had always felt ashamed of was now walking normally.
In the kitchen, everything was the same.
“Oh…” The house's doorbell was broken. The person who was pressing the doorbell found that n.o.body came to open the door, so he directly knocked on it.
Xia Man opened the door and saw Xiang Yang.
“Manman?” The malice on his face hadn't fully faded yet. Suddenly seeing Xia Man opening the door, he immediately made a deeply affectionate look. Meanwhile, she was disgusted.
“Need anything?” Xia man spoke, her tone cold. She didn't want to have anything to do with this man.
…When had he ever seen her with that kind of look? Whenever she used to face him, she'd always have a gentle and quiet look. She had never even spoke loudly in front of him.
Xiang Yang clearly noticed that because she was different from him in almost everything.
“Manman, why didn't you go to the party? I wanted to see you, I really wanted to see you. Manman, don't you love me?” Xiang Yang looked vulnerable.
Xia Man inwardly sneered, the thought of how he had made her go against Qu Zhen surfaced on her mind.
“But I don't want to see you.” Xia Man spoke up and looked at him in contempt. “To me, you're just an excuse. There will always be times of boredom. I have to thank you for taking the initiative to break up with me, else I might've felt bad doing it myself.” Xia Man's tone was disdainful. Her not saying much made him feel overlooked and loathed.
Xiang Yang clenched his fist. He shouldn't fail now! He still needs this woman to get him those millions!
“Manman, are you mad at me? I admit I was wrong. I shouldn't have been scared of Qu Zhen's background. But you know how my situation is! My grandmother at home is sick, and my sister has polio…”
Xia Man thoroughly saw through this unbelievably shameless man. She began to wonder, why was she born to just make certain goods, just like Qu Zhen?
The disgust towards this man in front of her began to intensify.
Xiang Yang thought that Xia Man was softened by his words. “Manman, let's get back together!”
“Oh,” Xia Man dryly laughed, her tone bleak. “I finally understand why I lost.”
Xia Man looked at Xiang Yang and laughed at herself. “I was so blind!” She slammed the door shut, creating a loud thud.
Only a few days left until the apocalypse, what's the deal with this guy?
Xia Man went straight into her s.p.a.ce. Firstly, she didn't want to hear the annoying knocks on the door. Second, she needed to know what this world was.
Xia Man walked around inside the s.p.a.ce. In addition to the forest and mountains, there was a small river.
Xia Man walked to the river, breezes softly blowing along the way. It was obviously nighttime outside, but here, it was sunny, filled with birds and flowers. If it weren't for those things she had to settle, she would've chosen to live here with Qu Zhen.
When Xia Man reached the end of the river, she felt amazed. There was a huge faucet emitting golden light. The faucet was open, clear water flowing down, slowly forming the river.
Xia Man observed it and recognized that the faucet was the bracelet's relief.
Xia Man smiled. She began to wonder how those people were able to get their hands on such a thing.
“You've come.” An old voice sounded. Xia Man was stunned, but she quickly recomposed herself. “Who are you?”
“Who am I?” The old voice asked in confusion. “Oh yes, I am the mighty and domineering dragon in front of you!”
The vicissitudes of the voice and the unconstrained words matched made her fear slightly dissipate.
“…” Xia Man wanted to say something, but the old voice sounded again. “Right, I'm still the original owner of the s.p.a.ce…”
The dragon just said a sentence for every time he thinks. Xia Man had wanted to say something, but she was always interrupted!
Can't you just say everything directly?!
“Oh yes! I'm here to find someone.” The old voice said, seemingly having remembered something.
Xia Man had been interrupted several times, so now, she just quietly stood on the same place, waiting for this old dragon to slowly remember.
“Looking for someone to…” The old voice asked himself, his tone confused.
“Looking for someone… Someone who's lost on Earth, who will lead humanity to a world of peace…” The old dragon was suddenly excited. “Little girl, I can't get out of this place, so I can only help you find the person for me.”
“Sorry, I can't help you. I have more important things to do.” Xia Man finally had a chance to speak.
“…” The old voice was silent. Just when Xia Man thought that it gave up, the voice suddenly appeared.
“How ungrateful. You would've been eaten by zombies if it weren't for me. I asked you for a favor, yet you have no conscience. I wouldn't have ended up like this if you didn't throw me in. If I can't get out, there will be no savior for humanity. Yet you refused? That's it! I won't play with you, I won't help you! I'll just turn this s.p.a.ce into sundries!” Its voice sounded older because of its agitation.
“Was it you who sent me back from the apocalypse?” Xia Man asked.
The old voice sounded pitiful. “Why else would I become like this if not because of reversing time and s.p.a.ce…”
“…” Xia Man went silent.
“You will find him for me! If not, the world will end once again…”
“I need time to think about it, mainly because my energy is limited. Since you know how my life previously went, you should know that I want revenge.” Xia Man looked at the dragon.
“…” The old voice was silent. It then reluctantly spoke, “Even though I know you're trying to trick me, I can only get tricked anyway…
“You can find a bead under my faucet… “
Hearing this, joy flashed in her eyes. And when she heard the old voice, she already formed a plan.
“You have to help me find him!” The old voice lamented.
Xia Man took out the bead. “What can this do?”
“You'll know when you swallow it. Rest a.s.sured, it won't do you any harm. I still need you, after all.
