Chapter 25.

Cole The next morning I wake with Kat still in my arms. The guys would think I'm a p.u.s.s.y if I told them how much I like to cuddle with my girl. Not that I give a f.u.c.k. I make my way to the bathroom so I can grab a quick shower before going downstairs to talk with my dad before the rest of the household starts waking up. I need to take care of a few things. Not surprisingly, Luke is sitting in my dad's office.

"When did you get back?" I ask.

"Late last night. I stayed out near the airport I got in so late but drove over for breakfast."

"Cook makes a h.e.l.l of a breakfast doesn't she?"

He smiles as he shakes his head yes.

"Alright Son what's going on? I got you a lawyer here and I'm here."

"With this stuff coming up with Sal, I want to make sure Kat is taken care of the rest of her life."

I pace the room. I hate to be thinking like I am right now but with the surrounding danger I need to know if something were to happen to me, she would be okay.

I outline my plan to my father and Luke. I can see my father is proud of me and Luke is watching me carefully.

"You're not planning something stupid are you?" Luke speaks.

"No why?"

"I don't know if I can handle picking up the pieces if Kat is without you. Man you really don't know she barely survived that first year of college, losing you and the baby. I can't even begin to fathom what would happen if she lost you for good."

My pacing is quicker around the room as he speaks I don't like thinking of this but it's needed.

"I don't plan on going anywhere. But this is going to be a b.l.o.o.d.y war when we go after Martin. I want to know that just in case she is taking care of. She'll always have a place in the Knight Family as long as she lives."

"Son, I'm proud of you for making sure you do the right thing for the woman you love."

That's the first time in years my dad has actually said those word to me.

"I can draw these doc.u.ments up and have them ready by the end of the day. Then it will not be something you have to stress over while you are going after Martin. I want you clearheaded," Luke says.

A part of me wishes I had seen Kat in those early days in California so I understood why Luke is so worried about her if something happened to me.

The three of us make our way into the dining room coffee and juice waits on the beverage cart. We all make our way to grab a cup of coffee before sitting down at the table together. We are quietly drinking when Kat walks into the room. My girl is wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top her hair pulled up into a messy bun. She's hot no matter what she wears. She by this time has made her way around the table and wraps him in a hug.

"I got in late last night."

She says something quietly to him and I watch as he shakes his head no with a small smile. I wonder what that is about. I mentally make a note to ask Kat later what their little secret is.

Kat walks back around the table and pulls her chair out to sit down. Once she is seated, I grab her by her hair and kiss her hard. I can't help it. I have this urge to do this to her every time I see her. As I pull away from her, I am and proud of the fact I have left her both breathless and speechless.

She tries to compose herself at the table. She is a hot mess right now, and I love that I'm the one who made her that way.

"Kat are you going into the office today?"

My dad asks her.

"Yes I plan to get some work done. They faxed me some numbers from the West coast concerning Miguel and I need to look them over. They think there is something wrong with his accounts," she says with a sigh.

"They think someone is skimming from Miguel?" my dad asks.

"Yea it seems that way." She slumps in her chair a little.

"Well I have a favor of you too. I have an account for you to check over. The girl who keeps the books over at the gym I own came to me with concerns about numbers there too"

"What the f.u.c.k dad?"

I'm ignored as he and Kat keep talking. I roll my eyes. f.u.c.king Kat always the favorite.

"Can you have her bring everything she has and meet me in my office this morning around eleven?"

"I can do that."

Conversation stops as the cook comes bustling in with a cart full of hot delicious pancakes, eggs, and bacon. This women is a G.o.dsend to us as a family. We have been spoiled by her over the years.

Silence fills the room as everyone fills their plates. I fix my pancakes how I like them. The only sounds are silverware tapping plates as everyone around the table does the same. In the middle of it Seth comes into the dining room. My little brother walks in immediately stopping at Kat and his little arms go around her in a hug.

"Morning Kat."

"Morning baby" she says to him.

Now if any of us called him baby he would throw a fit but Kat can do no wrong in Seth's eyes. He says good morning to me as he pa.s.ses then stops to speak with our dad before grabbing him some juice off the beverage cart. He comes around and sits down by Kat. Cook is immediately back at the table with food for my brother. I watch as she fusses over him. I remember many times in the past she fussed over me much the same way.

Justin and Julie come into the dining room last. Julie is dragging, but then she looks at the table and a huge grin breaks out across her face, along with a hint of pink to her cheeks. What the h.e.l.l is that about I wonder. Glancing around the table my eyes land on Luke who is watching my little sister intently. I know that look. It's the same one I give Kat all the time.

"OH f.u.c.k no!"

"Cole" my father exclaims "Language at the table!"

"What's wrong?"

Kat looks at me innocently, but my girl already knows what's going on. I just wonder how long it's been going on and how long she has known without telling me.

"Wrong. What's wrong? How about the fact my sister and Luke are hooking up?"

"I don't think this is the time to talk about it."

Kat says while glancing in Seth's direction.

"Fine, but we're all talking about this after breakfast."

I make sure that Julie and Luke know I'm referring to them. Did they really think they could get away with this?
