If Seth had said, "I'm sorry I killed your grandson.", then Karlan Amnon, this old man who is the current lord of the Amnon family, wouldn't say whether or not he would accept the apology, and would only give a snort and some contemptuous comment.

However, what Seth said was, "I'm sorry that your grandson was killed by me.", which, although was still an apology, implied something completely different. What Seth basically said was, "It was your grandson's own fault that he was killed by me. I'm sorry he was so weak."

Thus, this old man, Karlan Amnon raised his fist and...

If it wasn't for the sound of a saber being unsheathed, he would have bashed the little boy's skull in. With a fistful of anger, he walked away from the brat, swearing inwardly that he'll one day silence him once and for all.

Merab Zefer frowned. He had told Seth to apologize before bringing him to the Amnon family mansion, but this is how it had turned out.

Merab Zefer finally realized now, that this 3rd son of his is the type to feign obedience and respect, but is never actually one to consider himself lower than others. Hmm... he must have inherited that from him...

The reason that Seth is at this meeting between the heads of 2 of the great families of the city, is the same reason as the eldest son of the Amnon family's. They are simply here to gain experience and to add to the numbers of witnesses, or at least that is how it was supposed to be.

The other witnesses are the leaders of the families subordinate to these two great families. Despite being called leaders though, and having some forces of their own, their lack of power gives them no right to talk in this conference. They're basically here just to know what their orders will be.

The ones conversing here would mostly be between the leaders of the Amnon and Zefer families.

After everyone sat down around the big table, first was the game of blame.

"It's all your fault. I should just leave you to die to those *otherf****rs!" If people could maintain the peace as long as possible, who would want to risk their lives and fight? Even if it mean procrastinating a major problem.

"Hmph! If we die, you'll be following soon after!" Any disaster would be followed by a domino effect. Good things rarely come in bundles, but bad things always do. After the Zefer family is destroyed, the Amnon family would only be able to flee or wait to die.

Next came the strategizing. Since the threat coming to Haradur city is the Wolfing gang, one might think this conference is going to be about that, but unexpectedly, it is about...

"Now, how will we get rid of the Bilin family?"

The city is surrounded by thick stone walls. It would even be able to defend against the attack of a weak immortal city for a short time, let alone a band of bandits at the level of the Wolfing gang.

If they are able to make use of the walls to start a defensive battle, then they would be able to buy time for a subjugation force to arrive from the immortal city that Haradur city is subordinate to.

However, to use that wall, first they must make sure it would not be opened from within...

"Your forces will attack from the left side, and mine will attack from the right. We can't let any of them escape!"

The Bilin family is allied with the bandits. Thus, the moment the invasion starts, it's impossible that they won't try to force the gate open from within the city.

If they were to do that, it would not be even a day after the battle starts, that the city would be successfully invaded.

Thus, the Bilin family must be gotten rid of beforehand.

"Fine by me."

Finally, what came last was the divvying of rewards, or rather, of the loot to be gained. It was at this point that Seth, who supposedly had the status of a witness at this conference, arrogantly interrupted. He had stretched his legs onto the table and spoke.

"I want all the women of the Bilin family, from the babes to all those that have yet to reach middle age."

A deadly glare, along with many frowns, were sent Seth's way.

Women are a prize of any war involving the destruction of families, a resource that is to be used to please the men that had put forth the effort and risked their lives.

After the women are done satisfying the men, they will be sold. To many invaders, that is the best way to get the maximum gain from the b*tches that they've captured.

Done with his glaring, Karlan Amnon harrumphed. "Such a young brat, yet already so l.u.s.tful. Does his words represent the words of the Zefer family?" He directed the question towards Merab Zefer.

Merab Zefer answered with a nod.

A wicked smile appeared on Karlan Amnon's face. "Then I want all the a.s.sets of the Bilin family! Not one coin unaccounted for!"

Compared to the women of the Bilin family, the acc.u.mulated a.s.sets of the Bilin family should be worth far more, especially since the Bilin family is the family in control of the most businesses in Haradur city. Even if all the women of the Bilin family were sold as slaves, the amount gained would not even match up to what is in their treasury, let alone the deeds and other properties that they have.

Considering how money-hungry Merab Zefer usually is, Karlan Amnon didn't expect him to accept this condition. He just wanted to embarra.s.s the Zefer father and son duo a bit during this conference by making them take back their words.

Unexpectedly, Merab Zefer immediately consented. "Other than their businesses that we've agreed to split 50-50, you can have anything else inside their mansion. My men will not lay a single finger on their treasury!"

"...These are your words. Don't forget them."

The conference ended with a contract being signed, and a time being set for the attack. Everybody dispersed after that.

Erland Amnon felt that something was wrong, but he could not pinpoint what. Right now, only he and his father, Karlan Amnon, are inside the room that was used for the conference. Thus, he took this time to speak with him.

"Dad, why do you think that Merab Zefer allowed his son to do as he pleased?"

That was not the first time that their families had met like this, as they had other secret dealings before. Back during those days, it was not Seth, but instead, the now deceased Fabin Zefer, who tag along after his father.

Being the youngest and weakest one among the members of the great families present, Fabin Zefer would always stay silent and meek, never to speak his own opinions during those meetings. Even if he was stronger than he was, as long as his father was here, he wouldn't dare.

However, for some reason, it seems that now, that imposing parent, Merab Zefer, has gone soft? What could have happened?

"Do you think there is something special about the women of the Bilin family that they are after?"

Karlan Amnon harrumphed. "You're overthinking it. He's just pampering that little devil-sp.a.w.n son of his."

Erland Amnon frowned. He did not like that young son of the Zefer family, not only because of the fact that he had killed his nephew, Fabin, but also because of that ridiculous talent the boy has.

It had taken Erland himself so much time, effort, and resources, to reach the heroic bearings stage in his late 20s... yet, it took that Seth only 11 years? Subtracting the time it should have taken him to learn how to walk, it should have been little more than 9 years? Erland felt envious about that.

"Are we really going to let the brat get what he wants?" Even if they themselves would be the ones to profit more, Erland did not want to see Seth happy.

Karlan Amnon sneered. "All we said was that we would give them all the women of the Bilin family. We never said whether we would hand them over dead or alive."

"...I see." Erland Amnon nodded. Then, the Amnon family's father and son pair laughed out loud.

"What are going to do with those women? Will you hand them to the men?" Merab Zefer asked, as he and Seth were taking a carriage ride back to the Zefer mansion.

"...Eh? No?" Seth did not know why the big man asked that. What the point of handing them over to those soldiers? Isn't that just moving them from one future h.e.l.lhole to another?

"I can't keep them?" He asked, sounding like a sad boy that was just denied the kitty he picked up.

Merab Zefer stared at Seth for a moment. "...You are too young for that right now. What you should be doing now is focusing on your cultivation. It's this period when you are still developing, that your progress is at its quickest. We'll just lock them in some rooms until you've physically matured."

"Yes, father." Seth nodded obediently. He did not care to solve the misunderstanding.

"If it weren't for you showing me the Bilin family's possessions, I wouldn't have allowed you to say what you did during the conference."

Before heading out today, Seth had showed Merab Zefer to what was supposed to be an empty room. There, were a number of treasure chests filled with silver, golden trinkets and other jewelry, and important doc.u.ments that held more worth than the materials that they were made of.

According to Seth, those were all the treasures belonging to the Bilin family. At that moment, Merab Zefer wondered if Seth would be better suited to training down the path of a thief instead of that of a warrior's.

Grinning evilly, Seth said, "Right now, the Bilin family's treasury should be empty as a desert. When the Amnon family charges into there, I am sure they will have the most marvelous of expressions."

"...You did well." Giving a rare bit of praise, a similarly evil smile appeared on Merab Zefer's face.

Standing on Seth's lap, seeing all of this, Gelard felt wronged. "Kitty was the one who did all the work. Why is the stupid master the one getting all the praise!? This is unfair!" Screaming, kitty stomped his feet in frustration, causing the stupid master to feel annoyed.
