Chapter 240 - "I don't mind the scar." (1)
When Shu Yan was told by the driver that Feng Zeyu, too, would be heading to City Han and splitting the ride with her, she didn’t think much and just agreed to it.
She had gotten on his rides a few times so she had no reason not to consent now that Feng Zeyu was in need.
It was only when she pulled opened the back door in a familiar manner and stepped inside the cabin did she notice that Feng Zeyu was there as well. He had always taken the pa.s.senger seat in the past so Shu Yan a.s.sumed he would do so today as well. Turned out he was in the back seat. Now that she was already half way getting into the car, she wasn’t sure whether she should go all the way in or back out.
“What’s the matter?” Feng Zeyu gave Shu Yan a casual look.
“Oh, nothing.” Shu Yan paused a little bit and tightened her lips. It wouldn’t be very nice to back out now so she opted to get inside the cabin. “Let’s go, master.”
“Your shop is doing well.”
“Oh?” Shu Yan put down her things and didn’t hear Feng Zeyu clearly.
“I said, how’s business at your shop?” Feng Zeyu seemed calmed out front but his hands were sweaty in reality.
“It’s doing alright, I guess. We had some promotional activities during year end and sold out on many styles. Besides, it’s time to put out spring clothing so I thought I’d head to City Han for some merchandizes. Are you going to visit Duoduo?” asked Shu Yan with a smile.
“Not entirely. I need to take care of some business for my company in the City Han’s office and will be detouring to visit Duoduo. Would you like to come with?” As soon as he had finished asking, he regretted. He should have taken Duoduo to her, then ask her out to dinner.
“Me?” Shu Yan gave Feng Zeyu a dubious look.
“Yes. He had mentioned to me a few times that he wanted to visit the aunty who had saved him” That was not entirely a lie. Duoduo’s mother and Duoduo had brought it up a few times but Shu Yan had declined. He planned to bring them over to Shu Yan’s over the New Year’s time frame but Shu Yan was out of town. He had to find out that she had taken her children on a vacation from Lin Hui.”
“I don’t think I will have the time. I am going to rest for a little bit and then head toward the market at 3 AM. Merchandizing starts at 4 and will last till 7 or 8. Then I will need to head back immediately to get them onto the shelves.” These were her two busiest days; she really wouldn’t have the time.
“That’s a lot of work,” said Feng Zeyu sincerely.
“It’s not too bad. I am used to it.” Shu Yan smiled, then asked, “You mentioned your company earlier. What kind of company do you work for?”
She regretted asking after she was done. Everybody knew about Feng Zeyu’s reputation so for sure he would not have been able to get into any decent company. Would her question poke his sore spot?
“I work in Hua An. It’s a security company and I am able to apply my experiences.” Feng Zeyu parted his lips and then changed his words the last minute. “What about your children? Would you like me to ask a friend to drop them off school?”
“Oh, no need. Remember I used to have my daughter’s schoolmate’s mother help me with dropping them off and picking them up? I hired an aunty before the end of the year. She was the one who made those dumplings that I gave to you. So now I can come out without having to worry too much.” Shu Yan didn’t expect that Feng Zeyu was in security but for sure he was in regular security. Perhaps they were bodyguards?
“Do you know the background of the nanny? I can have someone look into it?” He had seen plenty of nannies who did not treat the children well, or kidnapping the children.
“She a relative of my neighbor and her daughter studies at City Nan University. She’s not entirely a stranger so I don’t think that will be necessary.”
