Chapter 193 - "Shu Yan is my friend and that will not change." (1)
“Big Brother, what are you doing here?” Hu Ruixue was surprised when she saw the man.
Shu Yan studied the man curiously. He resembled Hu Ruixue somewhat but his features stood out more. Masculine. He was an impressive and personable handsome man.
“Hi, I am Ruixue’s brother. My name is Hu Ruiyang.” Hu Ruiyang did not reply Hu Ruixue’s question but greeting Shu Yan first.
When faced with a handsome man, every woman would hide their true self reflexively. Just like right now, Shu Yan’s voice lowered. “Hi, I am Shu Yan, a friend of Ruixue.”
“Ruixue had mentioned you in the past. If you don’t mind, you can also call me big brother like Ruivue does,” said Hu Ruiyang in a very friendly manner.
It seemed too affectionate to refer to him as big brother, Big Brother Hu was odd, Bother Yang would be even more affectionate. All of a sudden, Shu Yan really had no idea how to refer to Hu Ruiyang.
“Even though Shu Yan is my sister, but you can’t just pop out of nowhere and claim a sister. Sheesh. Shu Yan, ignore him. You can call him Brother Ruiyang.” Hu Ruixue chimed in to help Shu Yan out.
“You are right. That was a bit abrupt.” Hu Ruiyang recollected himself and said apologetically. “I have heard a lot about you from Ruixue and she’d always mentioned how she’d do this and that if she has a sister like you. After a while, I started thinking of you like a sister as well. In addition, I admire your courage and your ideas in business a lot.”
Shu Yan felt a sense of alert. Was that really just a slip? For someone like him, could it really be possible that he didn’t think everything through before he opened his mouth? He didn’t strike her as the type who’d just blurt out what was on his mind. So, was that a test?
That was another reason that Shu Yan didn’t like having anything to do with rich people. They always thought that others approach them with ulterior motives. When talking to them, one’d never know which part of what they’ve said was meant to be a test. Relationships like that were very tiring. That being said, Hu Ruixue was an exception to the rule. Or could it be that she was particularly nice to her because they shared the same experience in the past?
Those were all just speculations. For now, Hu Ruixue was a good friend and friends should not second guess each other. Nevertheless, Hu Ruiyang was not a friend so his words were very questionable.
itting at a corner of the couch, Shu Yan cautiously picked up a gla.s.s and took a sip of water. Shu Yan felt a lot of pressure with Hu Ruiyang sitting there.
“Big Brother, why are you here?” asked Hu Ruixue again.
“Oh, nothing much. I happened to be in the area so I thought I’d swing by and check you out. You have been doing a pretty good job with this company of yours. So? Have you run into any difficulties?” Just like many parents, Hu Ruiyang wanted the smoothest path for their children and wished that he could eliminate any possible obstacles in the path for her.
“None for now. Don’t worry. Do you not have faith in me?” said Hu Ruixue half-jokingly.
“That’s not what I meant. I worry that you will run into issues this being your first time stepping foot in business. You can always let me know if you need any help.” Hu Ruiyang coaxed her patiently.
“Really, I am fine. I will give you a call if I need anything. Don’t you have other things to take care of? Hurry up and go. We don’t want to keep you.” Hu Ruixue was pretty much sending him away.
As though he didn’t hear her at all, Hu Ruiyang changed the subject abruptly. “Grandma’s birthday is day after tomorrow. Will Shu Yan be joining us? My grandmother had been wanting to meet you.”
“Me?” Shu Yan pointed at herself, a bit surprised.
“Yes. You are a good friend of Ruixue and she talks about you a lot at home. Grandma had already mentioned a few times for her to take you home for a meal. We might as well take this opportunity to do that,” said Hu Ruiyang as he looked at Shu Yan sincerely.
