"Yeah. When your lesson is over, come to meet me at the entrance of the Guild." John replied with a smile. He knew how long Vladimir waited for a chance like this. He then looked at the girl with the pigtails before he opened his mouth.
"What about you, Helena? Are you interested in becoming an adventurer?"
"As long as I am with you guys, I don't have a problem. Not to mention it sounds fun..." she replied happily.
"Alright. I am going to train then. Let's meet again in four hours." John said as he stood up, ready to leave.
"Wait!" Vladimir's shout made him stop his steps, turning his head around bewildered.
"Did you forget to tell me something?"
"Shut up! You said that you are going to the training area. What about your cla.s.s? Don't tell me that you plan on skipping it?" the tone of his voice made John realize that his brother was genuinely angry with him.
"Don't worry. I promise you that I am an exemplary student." John answered with a bright smile that didn't suit his usual expressionless face. Instead of waiting aimlessly for his teacher in the cla.s.sroom, he could make good use of his time by doing something productive. Although Vladimir wasn't convinced, he could only postpone his grumbling for later since he had to hurry for his lesson. The three of them said goodbye to each other and left the dining room.

At the same time, somewhere in the inner area of the Capital, a black-clad figure was heading toward a luxurious mansion. The hood prevented anyone from discerning its characteristics, but the shape of its body indicated it was a female.

"Halt! Who are you, and what is your purpose?" the threatening voice of the guard made the woman stop her steps.
"Inform the fourth wife of the Marquess that her third sister has come to see her."
"Lady Violet doesn't have any relatives. Naff off, or I'll beat you to death!"
Seeing the hostile expression on the man's face, the woman took out a letter and gave it to him with disdain. Her cold aura made the guard feel doubtful, but upon reading the letter, his face became pale.
"Please, forgive this servant's vulgar language. n.o.body told us that Lady Violet was waiting for guests and..."
"Enough! How much time do you intend to make me wait?"
The guard didn't dare to delay anymore. He hurriedly went to inform his superior, before returning with a butler.
"Please, follow me..."

"It's been a while, third sister!" Violet greeted the black-clad figure with a warm smile. The fourth wife of Marquess Gla.s.s was considered one of the most beautiful women in the Capital. Despite being a commoner, the Marquess fell in love with her at first sight to the point that he made her an official wife. Her status was considered low, but n.o.body else besides the other wives dared to offend her.
"I am happy you didn't forget your little sister, Violet!" her melodious voice sounded in the area, as she revealed her curly brown hair, as well as her two hazel eyes.
"Did you believe I would forget my best friend, Irene? You have hurt my heart!" the exaggerate answer of the woman made Irene roll her eyes. The two smiled at each other and began talking about their experiences from when they separated.
"What? Your father almost sold you to Count Boyce? How dare they. I will destroy them!" the rage of Violet was genuine. She and Irene were both wandering singers that happened to cooperate in a cabaret. The two of them had similar aspirations, so they quickly became fond of each other. She was lucky enough to meet her husband, who was a respectable man that loved her and didn't care about the fact she was a commoner. When she married the Marquess, she had to leave behind her dream, but her friend wasn't willing when she volunteered to help her escape her predicament. Learning about the suffering of Irene, how could she not be enraged!
"My father and Count Boyce are both dead..."
"D-dead? Both of them? Don't tell me..." she gulped as she looked at Irene with shock. There weren't convenient coincidences like this. The girl she remembered wouldn't dare to commit a crime, much less a severe one like murdering a n.o.ble.
"Your guess is correct. I poisoned that l.u.s.tful pig and framed my father for his death. I even staged my death to avoid the suspicions of the investigators. Irene doesn't exist anymore. I am nothing else than a ghost."
Violet couldn't endure it anymore and hugged her with teary eyes. She blamed herself for letting her little sister suffer so much.
"Why didn't the second or fourth sister help you? Why didn't you ask the help of your big sister? Don't you trust me?"
"All of you have created your homes and secured your futures. I also know that despite marrying the Marquess, your status is low because you are a commoner. I can't have you doing something that the other wives can exploit to bring you in a difficult situation. I care for you the same way you do for me." Irene answered as she cried her heart out. She had long forgotten how it was to be loved until she met her friend again. Her words had reminded her that she still wasn't alone in this cruel and dark world.
"It will be alright. I know a person that can help you escape the Empire. He is an ranked adventurer, so n.o.body will dare to inspect your ident.i.ty in the border. I will give you some money to start a new life. Leave everything to me!"
"No... no, you don't have to. I need your help with something else." she quickly said. She didn't wait for an answer, as she hurriedly explained.
"I want information about a person."
"Have you gone mad? If a patrol stops you, your life will be in danger. We don't have time to waste!" Violet shouted angrily. She didn't understand why her friend wasn't alarmed by the severity of the situation.
"Please, Violet. Trust me! I know what I am doing!" the girl insisted.
"Why? Aren't you afraid? Are you hiding something from me, Irene?" the woman couldn't help than ask in doubt.
"I can't tell you. Please, don't force me to act in front of you. I don't want to lie to you."
"Alright... I guess that you have your circ.u.mstances. Just promise me that you are safe."
"I am... I swear! Everything I do, I do it willingly!"
"I'll believe you. Who is it then that you need so desperately information?"
Irene took a deep breath and opened her mouth.
"The youngest daughter of the Emperor. The imperial princess, Rosemary de Grenmar."

"Aren't you late? You didn't even go to your cla.s.s!" Vladimir shouted with annoyance.
"I was absorbed and lost the sense of time. I think Vladimir that you have become short-tempered lately." John replied as he shrugged his shoulders.
"Relax, Vladimir. We have only waited for five minutes." Helena also commented, trying calm down the silver-haired youth.
"You don't know him well, Helena. That guy is too lazy to train first thing in the morning. I bet one hundred bronze coins that he went to sleep and woke up only now."
"No way... Right?" the orange-haired girl said, but upon seeing the guilty expression on John's face, she started to have doubts.
"Okay. Enough with the nonsense. Let's enter!" the boy hurriedly opened his mouth to change the subject. Under the eyes of his bewildered comrades, he opened the door of the building.
The interior inside didn't differ a lot from the inns since it had tables that the adventurers were sitting to eat and discuss. Naturally, since the guild was inside the Academy, the majority of the inside were students. When they heard the noise, they looked with interest at the newcomers.
"Did you see? They are freshmen."
"Registering as adventurers two days after the examination, are they crazy?"
"Hey, John! It seems they are talking about us..." the silver-haired youth whispered as he looked around with interest.
"It's logical. Most freshmen don't know how to use even magic."
The three of them arrived in front of the registration desk where a female elf was.
"Are you interest in becoming adventurers?" the elf asked with a smile.
"That's right!" Vladimir answered with confidence.
"I am sorry, but if you are first years, you need to be accompanied by an uppercla.s.sman."
Upon hearing this, the boy frowned, before turning his head toward his brother.
"She must be here by now..." John muttered as he searched his surroundings, disregarding Vladimir's gaze.
"I am here!" a shout accompanied with a hearty laugh sounded in the building.
A girl with short black hair looked at the three youths triumphantly.
"Maria..." Vladimir shook with an awkward smile.
