Nolan twirled his gla.s.s around his eyes cool like steel. "I know you wanted her dead for whatever purpose you two agreed on. Maybe I should stay until we can make other arrangements. I don't want you to get desperate and do something to make her go back the other way just so you got your end of the contract."

Henry's eyes narrowed as he felt the servants behind him look at Nolan shocked. The boy didn't know when to close his mouth. "You're jumping to conclusions. I am a businessman. I'm used to change and adapting to that change. I'm not going to lie, my purpose was to have this house all to myself with my a.s.sets. I am not going to have blood on my hands to get that. I hope you understand the words I'm saying." He leaned back into his chair and sighed. It would be nice to pummet some sense into the kid, but he didn't want to upset Ellie.

He felt the rim of something press into his shoulder and looked up to see the tired red eyed woman holding out a gla.s.s to him. Her eyes were strangely diagnostic which confused him until he realized they were a symptom of those in the medical profession. What was a doctor doing in his house? But she continued on insisting, "You look like you could use a drink. Take mine, it'll help you come back to us."

He didn't really trust her, but he did a drink he knew well. He took the gla.s.s from her finger and finished it. As was with any strong drink he could feel the burn in his throat as it warmed his insides. He coughed before he had to agree with her. That had been needed. His mind unwound it's clogged gears. He considered the gla.s.s thoughtfully as he mused on a next step.

He couldn't fault his wife that she had found a cure for her condition and he wasn't angry that she had done so. But it would bring complications for himself--the other Wongs would not be happy to find about the hushed up affair of his marriage. And Nadi-the wind beneath his wings? No, even if the supermodel could be persuaded to love him, they would not be able to tie the knot with Ellie in the way. What if the tabloids got a ahold of Ellie? It was a lot to consider at once--a long of strings now tangled together in a complicated knot he would unravel as time went on. The idea was faintly nauseating.

His mind swirled so fast, he worried for a moment his body would fail him in his ice cold control, so he decided to have this conversation late privately. This doctor, seemed to be much more wiser than she appeared once she opened her mouth. Although her grooming was not as fine as others he knew her eyes were bright and alert. She explained quickly in clear concise words why Ellie had been diagnosed as such and what procedure she had completed to alleviate the symptoms. She spoke this in the least amount of words needed to make him understand--another admirable quality.
