The next morning, Tian Yuo woke up once again finding the portable bed already folded and put away. Susu was also nowhere to be seen. He frowned when he didn't see her anywhere in the room. After washing his face and brushing his teeth, he went downstairs to eat breakfast.
It's been months since he sat down with his family and ate breakfast with them. Just like the first day as husband and wife, Susu was serving breakfast to his parents and grandparents. With a dazzling smile and energetic face, he couldn't find any traces of discomfort from last night.
He sat down like he used to and glared at her. She greeted him with a faint smile and asked, "What do you want for breakfast?"
He said, "English tea and waffles with fresh fruits picked from a tree."
She coughed lightly so that others wouldn't hear her discomfort before saying, "Sure. The fruits were fresh picked since four in the morning. The English Tea is already brewing, so I'll bring it to you. As for the waffles, give me fifteen minutes."
Shen Wen stared fiercely at her son's arrogant behavior, "How could you ask such ridiculous requests every single time you sit your b.u.t.t down? Seriously, what saint have you saved in your previous life to get Susu as your wife? Mother would love to save the same or another fortunate saint to have Susu as my daughter for my next life."
"Mom, it's so early and you've already scolded me! What's wrong with a husband asking his wife for breakfast?" he tried to play innocent.
When he saw how energetic she looked, the first thing that popped up in his mind was that she pretended to be sick to get his attention last night. He also suspected that the pills she took in front of him were either replaced with vitamins or never swallowed to begin with. It was just a show to gain his sympathy, yet a part of his heart actually felt guilt towards her.
"Here, your breakfast and tea." She placed the tray of food in front of him neatly. She didn't know how many pieces of fruits he wanted to eat, so she separated the sliced fruits in one container and had another container of syrup for his waffles.
"Who said to separate the fruits from the waffles? I said I wanted it with fruits on top. You couldn't even compelte such a simple task well."
"You said waffles with fresh fruits from a tree. You didn't say fruits on top of it. Besides, I don't know how many pieces of sliced fruits you would like to eat, so I separated it. Also, you have a habit of pouring syrup on the waffles anyways. Without the fruits in your way, you can soak the waffles in syrup better." She drank her orange juice and picked up her plates to the kitchen.
Shen Wen frowned when she noticed Susu barely eating her breakfast, "Susu, are you done already? I barely saw you eat anything. You only ate like a few slices of fruits and a slice of toast."
"Why care for someone like her? She looks more energetic than all of us combined. Just let her be. Maybe she's doing this just to catch our attention." Tian Yuo poured syrup all over his waffles and placed fruits on top.
"Am I talking to you? If not, why are you interrupting us?" Shen Wen's hands turned to tight fists and her blue veins surfaced on her temple area.
"Mom, I'm feeling fine. I just don't feel like I have much appet.i.te." Susu went into the kitchen and started scrubbing the dirty pans, pots and plates. Housekeeper Xu noticed a light layer of sweat on her forehead and suggested for her to take a rest, but she smiled and replied, "It's alright. I can handle it. If I don't do these ch.o.r.es, I will hear endless words from your young master."
Tian Yuo rushed back to his room after finishing his meal while Susu was still cleaning dishes in the kitchen. He opened the drawer and read the prescription on the bottle, "Yin Susu...Intake three times a day after a meal."
At this point, his trust in Susu was thinner than ice, so he poured out a pill and took a picture of it. Since these pills were prescribed, there is a quant.i.ty amount on the sticker. If even one pill goes missing, she would figure out that someone had stolen it.
Therefore, he took a picture of the pill and described the size of it. Since it was a family related matter, he could not ask his private doctor because the doctor and his mother were great friends. He would definitely tell his mother that he asked this question.
He ended up texting Karen for this favor.
"Karen, can you do me a favor and check what type of pill this is? I saw Yin Susu taking it, but I think she is faking her illness to get sympathy from me."
"Sure! I'll ask a few pharmacies nearby to see if the give me the same answer. Once I get the answer, I'll let you know. Is sister feeling alright?"
"Yeah. She looked more energetic than a person who is on a bungee jump ride. No need to worry about her. You're too nice."
"Aight, I'll get ready to go out now. Text me if you need anything else."
Karen moved back to the Yin residence after coming back from Paris. She hummed her favorite tune from a drama as she applied layers of cosmetics to her face. "Heh, Yin Susu. Your trick will never work on Brother Yuo. With me here, I'll never let him feel a single bit of sympathy for you. This pill will always be a vitamin to his eyes from now on."
This was not the first time Karen had done something sneaky behind Susu's back. She used to pinch herself to make bruises appear on her arms or visible places for Tian Yuo to see. Over time, it gave him the impression that she was being bullied in Yin residence. Obviously, her parents wouldn't give her bruises like that, and it wouldn't be the maids in the house. So, he a.s.sumed that it was all Susu.
"Since you managed to make Brother Yuo waver a little, I must kill off that last bit of guilt he has for you. Let's help you two officially split, shall we?"
