Chapter 1109: Riding the Wind and Asking the Moon
Once again falling into a familiar yet unfamiliar embrace, Zuo Yue felt as if a string in her mind had suddenly tightened. She struggled to get out of his embrace and raised her hand to push him away, but Xu Chengfeng had already let go at the right time.
Zuo Yue staggered two steps back and looked at his hand with lingering fear. Then, she suddenly looked up at his calm eyes and turned around without saying a word to stop the car.
Xu Chengfeng had his hands in his trouser pockets. His relaxed posture did not look like he had to return to America because of an emergency. Instead, it looked like he had come back for a vacation.
Zuo Yue did not want to study what he wanted to do, nor did she want to a.n.a.lyze the purpose of his return and every word he said now. She just wanted to get away from this man as soon as possible, as far away from him as possible!
Just as Zuo Yue opened the door of the taxi and was about to get in, Xu Chengfeng did not stop her. Instead, he turned around and walked towards a restaurant at the side. As he walked, he said calmly,””I got out of the car in a hurry just now, so I didn’t wear a coat. My wallet and phone aren’t with me.”
Zuo Yue’s gaze froze. She turned around abruptly and saw Xu Chengfeng walking into the high-cla.s.s restaurant.
At the same time, she looked around her body and realized that he really didn’t have his phone or wallet with him, and he was indeed not wearing a jacket.
Zuo Yue’s hand tightened on her phone and she frowned. Under normal circ.u.mstances, she shouldn’t care if he was planning to go to someone else’s restaurant to eat and drink for free. In any case, even if he couldn’t pay the bill in the end, no one would do anything to him. In this big Boston, he could just call anyone from the restaurant and leave immediately.
Zuo Yue knew that this was the case, and she also knew that these words were deliberately said for her to hear. Her hand that was pinching the car door froze for a long time and did not move.
ReadNovelFull.com“Madam, do you want to take a ride?” The driver asked in the car. Where to? If I haven’t thought it through, I’ll go ahead and pull the other pa.s.sengers.”
“I’m sorry.” Zuo Yue came back to her senses and turned to nod at the chauffeur before opening the car door. She did not know why she did not sit in the car but dodged to the side.
It wasn’t until the taxi drove away that Left Moon realized what was going on.
Why did she have to stay?
Why did she ask the taxi to fetch the others?
Suddenly, her heart felt stifled. Zuo Yue stood where she was, fuming. She turned to look at the restaurant again. Xu Chengfeng had already walked in and sat down by the window where she could see him.
Even though he didn’t have his wallet or phone with him, he was still so elegant and didn’t feel guilty at all. The waiter and the other waiters came over to pour water and order food. He took the menu and looked at it casually. It seemed that he was really ordering food.
Zuo Yue hardened her heart and decided to leave, not caring about him.
Why would she care if such a cold-blooded and heartless person was eating free food here?
What did it have to do with her?
She didn’t care at all now!
Zuo Yue was about to go to the next intersection to hail a taxi, but her footsteps did not listen to her orders. She turned around and walked towards the restaurant. As she walked, she looked at the man who had already ordered breakfast by the window with an ugly expression and rolled her eyes in his direction.
When they entered the restaurant, the waiter came over to greet them. Zuo Yue walked around them expressionlessly and went straight to Xu Chengfeng’s table. She stood at the table and stared at him coldly.
Xu Chengfeng glanced at her as if he was not surprised that she would come back. He calmly pointed at the seat opposite her with his eyes, indicating for her to sit down.
However, Zuo Yue’s lips curled up coldly. Suddenly, she took out her wallet from her bag. Then, she took out the black card that she had not touched for three years and slammed it on the table.
Xu Chengfeng thought that she was here to pay the bill. However, when she moved her hand away from the card and saw the black card, his face instantly darkened. His hand, which was originally calmly holding the gla.s.s of water, froze.
“Three years ago, you owed me an amicable parting. Now, let’s part on amicable terms. Uncle, at least I won’t say goodbye like you did. This can be considered a final chapter for those crazy youths of mine.”Zuo Yue’s voice was very soft, and there was a cold smile in her eyes. Just like that, she returned the card that he had placed in her hands three years ago. From then on, the two of them had nothing to do with each other.
Not anymore.
She no longer looked at his expression, nor did she look at the black unlimited card that had been sealed in her wallet for three years. Zuo Yue’s lips curled into a disdainful smile. She picked up her bag again, turned around, and quickly walked out of the restaurant without looking back.
The waiter stood at the side with a strange look on his face, but he did not dare to say anything.
He had thought that the beauty had come in to have breakfast with this gentleman, but the current situation was a little confusing.
“Sir…” The waiter walked to the table and spoke softly. When he saw the expression in the man’s eyes, he didn’t dare to say anything more.
Xu Chengfeng remained seated in his previous position, holding the gla.s.s in his hand as if nothing had changed.
His eyes were staring at the black card on the table, as if he wanted to burn the card to ashes.
*****
At night.
Zuo Yue had a rare good night’s sleep. Tomorrow was Sunday, and tonight was supposed to be the night when she could stay up all night. Perhaps it was because she had finally returned the heaviest burden in her wallet, but she actually slept so soundly tonight. She even went to bed after taking a shower when she got home. She only fell asleep at nine o’clock in the evening.
But the result was…
The next morning, Zuo Yue woke up at 3:30 am. Her biological clock prevented her from falling asleep. After she got up, she hugged her computer to look for work and study materials. After looking at them for a while, she felt a headache. It was drizzling outside the window. She got up and walked to the window to look out. The rain was not very heavy, so there was no need to close the window.
However, looking at the rain outside the window, the sky was still dark and gray. After looking at it for a long time, he casually picked up a lady’s cigarette on the European shelf and lit it. He frowned after taking a puff. In the end, he just played with the cigarette between his fingers. He only took a few puffs before the last cigarette burned to the end and was slowly extinguished.
Originally, she had stayed in Boston to find some peace and quiet. She did not have to go back to Los Angeles to face her mother’s concerned gaze, nor did she have to think about the past.
However, that person had suddenly barged back into her life. In fact, he had always been in the opposite direction from her, but now, he seemed to have reversed the direction and was approaching her step by step.
