"Prepare yourselves, we'll start with the lowest intensity we can do, the seventh level and then we'll go up" Mandus explained and the students nodded "Good, then use your magic now" Mandus nodded and said.
The students immediately conjured a blue sphere the size of a basketball and maintained it above their palms. At the same time, the eyes of each member of the cla.s.s glowed strangely, without anyone noticing.
The three disciples looked at each other and nodded. They then proceeded to release their auras and start the examination.
The students were suddenly struck by the pressure and their expression suffered a big change. The intensity was truly at the seventh level, but it was more than that. They also felt powerless under that aura as they perfectly understood that it came from individuals hundreds of times stronger than them.
All of them immediately resonated and readied themselves to resist anything that would come at them. During this little period of surprise, strangely, none of the students' magic wavered.
Cekrad thought this was strange and it was the same for his disciples. The three in question looked at each other and raised the intensity by one level a bit earlier. This time again, although some of the students were showing obvious signs of weakness, their magic didn't stop.
"What did you teach them exactly?" Chulainn observed the scene and asked Arima. The latter just smiled as a response.
"Mm, isn't that parallel thought?" Lanya remarked and Chulainn looked at her in surprise then back to Arima in shock.
"Did you teach them parallel thought in just one week?"
"More or less" Arima answered "I could only teach them how to create a single parallel thought. But that's enough. They just have to use that other mind to control the magic while they focus their minds on resisting the intensity of the aura"
Chulainn's eyes widened and looked toward the arena "Parallel thought sounds like a simple theory, but it's actually hard to use. And you're telling me you taught some kids how to use it, in a week?"
"Yeah" Arima affirmed "Some of them were even capable of using the first parallel thought after two days"
Chulainn grunted "…I want to ask you what theory you used but I don't want to lower myself to that" He complained.
Arima snickered and shrugged just after "You don't need it anyway. You biologically have three heads and so you have naturally three different minds. And all of them are as strong as a 'princ.i.p.al' mind. There's no division of process power like cla.s.sic parallel thoughts. For me, that's cheating" He said and Chulainn covered his ears with his paws.
Just after, the disciples raised the intensity to the ninth level and finally some students fell unconscious and their magic was dispelled. But they lost the control over it not because of their focus but just because they couldn't physically hold on anymore.
When the seven first students fainted, Arima instantly teleported them with a single glance and healed them at the same time. Cekrad was about to do the same but the speed and efficiency Arima showed made him speechless.
When it finally reached the tenth level, most of the students immediately lost and were retrieved by Arima. Now, there were only ten students left. The ones that Arima was the most confident in. He also believed that those ten students could have resisted until now without the parallel thought. Particularly Ofia and Lena.
The three disciples were quite impressed that ten people were still left. Before going further, they all looked toward their master and when they got his permission, they raised the intensity to the semi-earthen realm.
This time, everyone's countenance changed by being under the influence, even partly, of the energy of a totally different realm.
Most of them fell on their knees and the aura was so intrusive that it even perturbed their second minds as their magic wavered for the first time. The three disciples didn't need to go further for five of them to faint too.
The five left were now Lena, Ofia, Ferzia, Gaodu, and Airon. The latter's performance was really impressive since his level wasn't that high compared to the others. But he had a great mind power and still resisted even if he had to be on all four to resist the pressure.
The three disciples breathed in and confirmed with each other before releasing an aura at the first sky of the earthen realm. The result was to be expected, the children all lost control over everything almost instantly.
The only ones who managed to resist longer, although just a few seconds more, were Lena and Ofia since they could basically share their mind power.
But they ultimately had to retreat in front of this pressure. Even Arima never showed them a pressure so big since he was pretty nice to them.
"That's the end!" The older disciple, Kuin, shouted and the aura receded "Seven of you lasted until the ninth level, twenty-three of you lasted until the tenth level" He announced "Then five of you managed to resist the pressure of the semi earthen realm" He said.
The term earthen realm was something that Arima shared in his books and since then, all of those who understood what level it was began to call it like that.
"And finally, five of you resisted until the first sky. You need to know that, since the difficulty to even stay conscious under that pressure is really high, the points attributed to those who lasted until that point are a lot more than normal. In the end, cla.s.s A ama.s.sed a total of 448 points" Kuin declared and the same number appeared in the sky, under the letter A.
"Next group" Mandus immediately called the next cla.s.s and Velvet's students stepped on the arena, a bit tense. Most of them knew that they were not going to do better than the previous cla.s.s.
Even Velvet had to admit that as she sighed and glanced at Arima. She also looked toward Olien and his student, Yrion. She was extremely cautious against that kid. She honestly wondered if she should make her students abandon if they ever had to fight him. Not because they were sure of losing or something like that. But simply for their security.
The examination for group B went smoothly and normally, let's say. The first ones already had lost control at the eight level and there was only one student who managed to stay until the semi-earthen realm and it was indeed Mila.
"Your score is 364" Velvet listened to the score as she looked at it appearing in mid-air. She wryly smiled and shook her head. She knew that this test wasn't for her cla.s.s.
"Group C, it's time" Kuin said and Olen's cla.s.s went on the arena with Yrion as the center of attention.
The moment the students conjured their magic, the disciples released their auras for the third time. n.o.body lost control in the first part and the three disciples soon raised the pressure to the eighth level.
Surprisingly, only three students couldn't take the pressure and after that, at the ninth level, thirteen of them stepped down. It was only at the tenth level that most of them lost control but there were still three of them that stayed until the semi-earthen realm, including Yrion who was seemed to be unfazed by the pressure he received until now.
It was only at the pressure of the first sky that the two other students except him lost control and that he showed clear signs of a struggle. But his body only slightly bent and it transformed at the same time as he used his resonance which he never used before in this compet.i.tion.
His figure slowly changed and his skin became covered in red scales, he grew a pair of wings and a tail. Night frowned and stood up. Yrion indeed possessed a resonance that could change him into a dragon but unlike Arima or Lanya, his appearance looked more like a humanoid dragon. Closest to the actual beast than the human. Under this appearance, he shockingly resisted the pressure of the first sky.
"This…" Lanya murmured.
Night nodded "He killed a dragon to get that soul contract" He sighed and sat down "It's not like I feel bad for all dragons but," He paused "I can still feel the dragon's soul screaming in pain" He said and a cold light flashed through his eyes as he stared at the kid.
Even Arima had a rather unpleasant feeling when he looked at Yrion. Usually, no one could irritate him by just being themselves. But this was what angered him this time. That kid seemed to absolutely disregard any form of life.
Arima glanced at Olen with a probing expression. That teacher seemed to be totally unperturbed by everything. Arima decided to continue observing.
Kuin signaled to his two comrades and they all raised their auras to the maximum. Mandus and the other disciple could only go until the first sky but Kuin went to the second sky.
Yrion finally had a huge reaction and he slowly fell on his knees. You could also see a bit of sweat flowing down on his draconic figure and some of his scales were cracking too. He was actually at his limit even before going into the second sky but he was still resisting with unfocused eyes.
The three disciples looked at each other as they didn't know what to do anymore. They were shocked enough and couldn't muster a pressure higher than this one.
Even Arima was quite impressed. Resisting the pressure of three individuals in the earthen realm while you, yourself, are only at the tenth level, is admirable. And although Yrion was actually on the verge of mental collapse, he was still maintaining that simple mana ball which made him even more remarkable.
"Stop your auras" Arima raised his voice and said toward the disciples. The three who were called so unexpectedly looked for their master's opinion.
When the latter nodded, they stopped releasing their aura. Yrion slowly looked at Arima with his weakened look and was barely able to see Arima's sigil revolve before he felt the biggest pressure and energy he ever felt before falling unconscious a second after.
Arima blinked and his aura disappeared "He resisted until the third sky" He closed his eyes and said. The three disciples gulped as they knew that his aura, that they felt for a second there, was indeed at the third sky but its complexity and density was just horrifying.
"…Count the score" Cekrad brought back his disciples from their stupor and instructed them to resume the test.
After a moment of silence, Kuin opened his mouth "Cla.s.s C's final score is, …453" Their score managed to be higher than Arima's cla.s.s thanks to Yrion's performance alone.
"That's the end of this examination. The points are now; A: 10, B: 7, C: 9" Karia announced when the three pupils of Cekrad returned to the latter's side.
"And now," Raal smirked and addressed everyone "It's finally time for the combats" He said with some excitation.
As he was about to continue speaking, "The first round will be group A against group B" Karia cut him and continued "It will then be B vs C and finally, A vs C. Between each round, the students will be fully healed by Sir. Cekrad. It's time to start the final test. Each victory will get the cla.s.s two points, that's why it's always an opportunity to catch up. Good luck" She explained and Raal's expression twitched before he sulked and then followed all of the judges outside of the arena since the fights will make use of it in its entirety.
"The first one will be the 40 versus 40. Teachers; please send your students. Cla.s.s C will be asked to leave to not have any advantage on their next opponents" Karia smiled and said.
