This was finally the second time she was allowed outside the mansion, only this time, she wasn't instilled with enthusiasm, much like the first. No, the reason for this was the looming presence of the person beside her. Of Wicked.
Just like before, there was no hitchhiking that happened when they left the premises of the mansion. In one breath, they arrived in the bustling village where Montblanc's shop was located.
The night was just starting its course but Yoona felt her sanity was approaching its end. Since they teleported to a spot having an ample distance away from the shop, they had to travel by feet, only the two of them.
She had thought he was a busybody, but alas, he had managed to squeeze into his tightly packed schedule time to escort her! And for what purpose? That's right, dress fittings.
Is this some kind of a joke?
Yoona was uncomfortable. Her situation was awkward enough as it is, his presence only made it worse. There was only pregnant silence between them. Many times she attempted to strike a conversation, but nothing struck. There was simply nothing to talk about between the two of them. She wished he hadn't come at all.
“If you have something to say, just say it.” he piped up suddenly.
“What?”
“It's all over your face.” His voice was gruff as usual but, it seemed a little soft, perhaps because he knew she was nervous around him.
“Well, it's just that I didn't expect you to come with me.” she admitted nervously.
Despite the fact Tomovoy had told her Wicked would be accompanying her, she didn't think it would be true. After all, he was so busy all the time, and was almost never home, she had not expected him to have the time at all. Especially not on a casual trip to the dress shop.
“Don't you like my company?" he asked her, and Yoona began to retract her statement…
“No! No, i was just, uh," she stuttered, "I was just rather surprised. This was all unexpected.” she finished, laughing in a sheepish manner. “You're always busy.” she added in a quiet voice. He was wasting his time on such trivial matters. There was a mountain-load of work he had to take care of, yet here he was, babysitting her.
“You're more important.” he stated nonchalantly, which caused Yoona's jaw to drop, if only slightly. She was rendered speechless by his response. She didn't know how to respond to that.
"Rumors about our relationship have begun to grow. Frankly, it must be because I've never really formally acknowledge it in the first place."
“And that is?”
"At the ball, the King might explain my presence around you as your guardian. This is to ward off any plans of attacking you, and also a warning."
“I thought the ball was a thanksgiving.” Yoona asked, frowning in thought. Had she misunderstood?
Turns out, this was all a show for the King's foes.
“Trust me, it's not.” Wicked said, scoffing slightly.
Yoona had nodded along to what Wicked had been telling her. He proceeded on with the conversation, yet not even once had Yoona tried to make eye contact with him. Of course, it wasn't left unnoticed. His heightened senses wasn't needed for him to know that Yoona was afraid of him. Who wouldn't?
“Did I not tell you that you could trust me?"
"You did." she said, looking straight ahead, as he stared at her, raising a brow.
“And did you?” he prodded. The more Wicked looked at her, the more Yoona could feel herself shrinking underneath his gaze. He smirked, the tips of his fangs slipping out from his lips.
"I think you're still afraid of me." Wicked pointed out like it was just a matter of fact, "However you must know, for us to work together, it is imperative we trust one another."
Wicked had always been intimidating, His constant vigilance kept people at bay. It came so naturally for him. He was used to being the predator, being the hunter. Thousands of dead bodies had been piled into his repertoire. He had left trails of corpses in his wake.
"Thank you for your concern. ” Yoona replied, smiling a little awkwardly. Wicked only chuckled at her reply.
"It's not a problem.”
