Chapter 7

"Hiroto......Hiroto......please don't......cry......alright?" A heavily panting Yamazaki managed to catch up with me, his body bent down as he tried to gasp in deep breaths of air to catch up his breath.

Seeing my home which had been burnt charcoal black by the fire, I felt as if my heart was torn into several pieces, and tears kept dripping from my eyes, like a string of beads being suddenly cut, resulting in the tears sliding down my face, whenever i thought of my parent's benevolent faces, my heart aches to the point that I had difficulty breathing.

(TL: reminder, i try to do constructive tl- sticking as close to what the author phrased amap, i can rearrange some sentences; but i try not to, in order to preserve the meaning. the above ^ is a good example of the author describing hiroto crying, weird but ...yeah.)

After seeing the police officer that was standing guard at the entrance of the house, I walked towards him.

"A murder case had happened here earlier, the police are still conducting ongoing investigations, hence please refrain from intruding onto the crime scene." That police officer stretched out his left arm to halt me from entering.

"My name is Tanigawa Hiroto, and I am x.x.xX's son."

(TL: x.x.xX is the father's name, I omitted it for now due to laziness to tl it)

"What, Tanigawa Hiroto, please wait here, I'll go get the taichou...... Taichou! I found the sole remaining survivor of the Tanigawa family." (TL: LIAR!! YOU DIDNT FIND HIM, HE APPROACHED YOU FFS) That officer standing guard ran into the house while shouting.

(Note: Taichou = captain, in this context it means police capt)

After a few minutes, an extremely huge and muscular man came out with the police officer; eyes appraising Hiroto, while saying:

"You are Tanigawa Hiroto? I'm the taichou in charge of this investigation, you can call me Sakurai-taichou. Where were you when this crime happened? You had any witnesses?"

"It wasn't me, yesterday I was with the fatty beside me." I replied with an expressionless face.

"*whistles* You have quite the temper aren't you. I know that you didn't do it, it's just standard procedural questions. Look at you, a skinny build without much muscle on your body....even if you used your entire body strength, you probably couldn't slice off a human body's limbs in one try." The huge muscular Sakurai-taichou glanced at Yamazaki as he replied Hiroto.

(TL: >_>. . . . . . . you fail as a police taichou)

"Initially this case was thought to be a robbery-kidnapping with murder intention, as after the robbers entered the house, it's possible that they may have kidnapped or knocked your nee-san unconscious, thereafter when your tou and kaa-san returned home earlier than usual, firstly your tou-san's leg's joint's got hacked off in a single blow, and finally both of their deaths was established to be because their necks were struck by some sort of long blade weapon, another single blow too; when the robber finished looting the house of valuables, he ran off, with your nee-san."

"Can let me have a look inside?"

"Go on in."

"Thanks." Without looking at the officer, I walked past him, followed by Yamazaki, into the charred-black remains of the house. With every step I took, realizaion that the house seemed to be familiar, yet strangerish, causing tears to well up in my already reddened sore eyes.... and after i caught sig

ht of 2 charcoal-burnt corpses lying on the floor, I immediately burst into tears, crying despondently while lying on the corpses.

After crying till my voice was lost, I begun to a.n.a.lyze the dead corpses and indeed discovered that one of them had a broken leg.

"Hiroto, please don't cry any more.... be strong, for the sake of your parents, you must find the murderer and bring him to justice, otou-san and okaa-san probably wouldn't want you to cry here forever too.... your nee-san may be also at the hands of the kidnappers, you must save her."

After hearing these, I came to an abrupt start: He's right, I must be strong, I must find the murderer.

"I get it."

At this moment, Sakurai-taichou came in.

"Hiroto, right now there will be someone using forensic devices to scan the crime scene for clues, so it's better if you wait outside, now that your house is in this state we have already arranged a place for you to live.... there will be protection a.s.signed to you there before this crime case is closed. We will take care of your otou and okaa' -san's bodies."

"No need for that, Hiroto will stay with me, my mansion is big plus my housemaid knows self-defense, it'll be much better than the place you've arranged." Yamazaki glanced at Sakurai-taichou whilst exiting the house.

"Alright then, since your friend said so, then you'll go ahead and live at his place." Sakurai-taichou shrugged.

I nodded, following Yamazaki out of the house.

"Yamazaki, why do you treat me so well?" Confused, I questioned him, as I didn't understand why he would go that far to even insist that I live with him.

"Because we are childhood friends, d.a.m.n it. When I was young, everyone thought I was fat and disgusting and stay clear of me, but only you stuck through with me every day. From then onwards, I've always treat you as my best friend, and now that you're in trouble, of course I must help ya."

"Thanks, Yamazaki."

"Come on, let's go home."

"Mm."

En route home, Yamazaki kept recounting the fun things we did since childhood in an attempt to cheer me up, and when  we walked towards the park, we saw Miwa-san, holding a bento, sitting on a bench, alone.

"Miwa-san, what are you doing here?" I confusedly asked.

"Ahh, Hiroto you finally came, I waited a whole night for you, the bento probably became cold for quite some time already, but you kept your promise and finally came here."

"Huh, you made this bento for me, and waited an entire night here? ? ? ? ? ? ? Miwa-san, you......... didn't catch a cold, did you."

"No, no..... Hiroto started to care for me, eheheheheh.... Aahh I'm so happy, Hiroto is so gentle~ ~" Looking at Miwa-san who started to submerge in her own thoughts whilst muttering inaudible words, I became speechless.

"Ahh! I became too excited, please Hiroto, eat this bento that I prepared for you, ahh.... I forgot that the food had already became cold.... sorry Hiroto, during this waiting period, the bento had already became cold, Hiroto can come over to my house to eat a freshly cooked bento then." Miwa upon realizing her bento was indeed cold after such a long period of time, pleaded with me to go to her house to eat another.

"Nah, not going, I'm kind of sad today."

"Eehh, Hiroto what happened, why are you sad, is it because you aren't feeling well?"

"I........."

"Hiroto's house was robbed, tou and kaa- san were killed, and his nee-san is probably kidnapped, thats why Hiroto is feeling sad." Realizing that it may be hard for me to talk about it, Yamazaki stepped up and explained. I flashed him a grateful smile before bowing down my head in silence.

"That's excellent news! Now that Hiroto doesn't have a tou and kaa-san any more he can live at my house now.......urk, I mean, it's really a pity that this happened." Miwa suddenly became ecstatic with joy, before realizing she said something wrong then changing her sentence midway weakly.

"Hiroto is gong to live with me, seeing his condition now, i don't think he will be going to school tomorrow. Miwa-san, could you help me to tell sensei that me and Hiroto won't be going to school, being Hiroto's friend, I plan to bring him out tomorrow to cheer him up."

"Sure thing, but can you bring me along as well, seeing Hiroto so pitiful.... I also want to help him." Miwa secretly peeked at Hiroto's side face whilst saying so pitifully.

Yamazaki seeing that Hiroto still remains in a silent daze, had no choice but to help Hiroto agree with it. Noticing that Hiroto had no intention of moving at all, Miwa and Yamazaki stayed, accompanying Hiroto, sitting quietly by the park benches, whilst looking at the large maple tree in the middle of the park.
