Zhang Yunyan looked at the Iron Egg and she was deeply depressed for her inability to protect this child.
Iron Egg was so young and so cute, but he was going to die in the mouth of the monster. Alas, he was too poor, and his ending was too terrible. She was heartbroken for this with her tears flowing silently.
Yunyan couldn't help but think of her childhood. At that time, she didn't have any relatives to rely on, so she made a living by herself. She had gone through many dangers but she still made it out alive.
In this regard, her situation was much better than Iron Egg.
He was only a little child, but he would still die at such a young age. What was more terrible, he would die in horror, die with a miserable cry... Anyone who thought of these scenes would feel painful.
Zhang Yunyan was so sad that she could not stop her endless tears. She tried to suppress the pain in her heart and did not dare to cry out, fearing that Iron Egg would feel more painful.
She really wanted to save him, but she thought that it was too difficult. She was already in a desperate situation so she didn't have the ability to escape on her own, so how could she save others and help others to escape? Maybe the words 'saving people' could only be used to comfort his childish mind.
In the face of such a cruel reality, she couldn't save herself as well as the child. Upon thinking of escaping from here, she just felt so sad, so anxious, and so helpless.
Zhang Yunyan could not suppress her emotions, just watching the poor child secretly and still crying silently.
She sighed and asked in a choked voice, "Iron Egg, do your parents know that you were caught by the monster?"
"I was caught by the monster while playing on the gra.s.s outside the village. My parents don't know that." Iron Egg was very scared and said with a tremor in his voice, "Auntie, the monster is so fierce, and he even eats people. I am afraid."
Zhang Yunyan was in pain again upon hearing this, with her tears constantly flowing.
She sighed and felt sorry for this child. He was so little, and maybe it was his first time encountering such a ferocious monster. His young mind must be deeply hurt, so how could he not be afraid.
She did not have the ability to save the child, nor did she have the ability to soothe his injured soul. What she could do was only to feel pain and helplessly lament.
In this danger, comforting words were too pale and too hypocritical to solve this problem.
Yunyan knew that this kind of comforting words made no practical significance, but she could only do so and hope that the child could calm down for a while.
She sighed and thought that once the Black Killer returned, not only would she lose her own soul, but Iron Egg would also be eaten by the monster - their endings would be too tragic.
Iron Egg looked at Yunyan, showing a fearful expression and asked with tears in his eyes, "Auntie, you are crying. Are you afraid like me?"
Zhang Yunyan was shocked to hear that and hurriedly held back her grief. Even though she wanted to wipe away her tears, she couldn't do this because her hands were tied up.
She took a long breath and calmed down to console their fearful hearts. She couldn't let her emotions arouse the painful feelings of the child.
She said, "Iron Egg, Auntie is not afraid. Don't be afraid. Auntie is with you. I... I just have a stomachache."
Yunyan silently lamented for her lies. In the face of the fierce Black Killer and the tragic ending which was coming, how could she not be afraid?
However, she couldn't tell the truth anyway, so she could only use these lies to comfort Iron Egg.
Zhang Yunyan felt more heartbroken when she thought more about this. Also, she felt very pitiful, very sad, very helpless, and very sorry for the poor child.
Iron Egg looked at Zhang Yunyan so eagerly as to know the answer and his tender eyes were filled with a longing look.
He asked Yunyan while wiping away her tears for her, "Auntie, what if the monster comes back? Can we escape?"
Iron Egg's inquiry was very simple, very practical, and the only wish of the child.
Zhang Yunyan could not answer, and her heart was strongly hurt by the tender question again. Her tears kept flowing and she could not stop.
She secretly lamented and thought to herself. If she said no, it would hurt the child and make him desperate and cry. However, this was the reality and the ending that they couldn't escape from.
But if she said yes, the child would have hope and would be much calmer. However, such an answer was an unrealistic lie and also a deception to the child.
However, at this moment, Zhang Yunyan had no other choice. She could only use white lies to comfort the child and give him a temporary comfort.
The child had suffered terribly, and his young body and mind had been greatly hurt and could no longer bear such strong sorrow.
On hearing 'yes', Iron Egg felt much better.
However, he still suspected it and asked, "Auntie, but you are tied up now, can you run?"
Zhang Yunyan smiled bitterly and lamented as her tears flowed. And she thought, "Alas, it is difficult to lie to a child."
She felt that she was hypocritical but she also felt very uncomfortable telling a lie. What should she do in the face of a child who was eager to survive?
Yunyan shook her head gently, and said, "When you untie my rope, then we can run."
Although what she said was unintentional, Iron Egg really started to untie the rope. The young child did not have much strength, so he didn't untie it even though he spent a long time trying to do so.
Zhang Yunyan did not depend on the child to untie the rope. She had been thinking hard about strategies to escape, hoping that they could find a chance of survival even though it was nearly impossible.
This hope was just like a pie in the sky, it could be said that it was impossible. If there was still a little possibility of living, they could only escape here before dark. But the reality was too cruel, she had no way to make a difference, so her wish was just an idiotic dream.
They didn't have much time to escape. To realize her wish was as difficult as making a dream come true.
Zhang Yunyan lost the Magical Dragon Sword, and both her hands were tied up. So it became much more difficult for them to escape.
If her sword still belonged to her, maybe there was a little hope, and Iron Egg could help also.
However, such 'if's were vain and meaningless, and the 'hope' of escape could only be a fantasy.
Zhang Yunyan was heartbroken over the loss of the treasured sword. She also felt very anxious to think about the impossible escape strategy, and felt uneasy for the child's life.
There was nothing she could do, so she just cried silently and sighed from time to time.
Not to mention that she would be bullied by the monster and then be sent to the alchemy furnace, Iron Egg was even more pitiful and more miserable. But what could she do?
She was reminded of the scene when the Magical Dragon Sword fought alone against the Black Killer. Zhang Yunyan was very emotional and excited, and was even more pained over the loss of this sword.
In order to save its owner, the Magical Dragon Sword even could fight against the monster on its own. She was deeply surprised. She felt how magical and precious the Magical Dragon Sword was.
But she lost such a precious Magical Dragon Sword, and it still became a tool for the Black Killer. Zhang Yunyan was very sad and frustrated.
She had no ability to recapture her sword, nor had the ability to save her life. So she could only suffer and be depressed.
Upon thinking that the monster held the Magical Dragon Sword to kill people, it was difficult to accept that fact, but she had to accept it.
This was the reality that could not be changed. The sword had already in the possession of the Black Killer. And she also would lose her soul and even her life. Terrible tragedies would take place one after another and could not be reversed.
Sad, really sad! Painful, extremely painful! Zhang Yunyan felt sorry for her poor ending, and felt anxious and desperate for the child's tragic death, and lamented the loss of her magical sword.
