"You didn't have to, you know."
"I wanted to Hailey." As he slipped it on her hand.
"Thank you so much for this."
Hailey looked over Alex and he looked great in a suit, his blonde hair was slicked back, and his green eyes were bright.
"You welcome my lady."
Hailey laughed, she and Alex had grown very close. He was very sweet and attentive to her. When she felt sad, he was there, and they had shared so many memories together.
"I believe that this is our first date." said Alex.
Hailey was blank, she looked at him with a bit of puzzlement on her face.
"Remember what you said when I asked you out? That I should give you a year to do you and if we were still together, it would be our first date."
Hailey was also puzzled at the fact that he had actually remembered that. "I did say that didn't I."
She remembered telling Alex that she needed a year to process and sort out her life and after that she would go on a date with him. Alex had complied and he never pressured her, which was the one thing that she liked about him. He never once pushed her to change her mind.
Now after a year, she did feel different and she had done more than she had set out to accomplish.
"Yes, you did." Alex held out his arm and she took it.
"By the way you look lovely Hailey."
"Why thank you. So, do you kind Sir."
They made their way to the car and he opened the door for her. She got in the car, and Alex got in beside her and they were on their way. She liked looking at the city lights. They drove for a long time and Hailey wondered how far this place was?
After an hour and fifteen minutes it seems as if they had arrived at their destination. She looked at the big words at the place, LECROW. The place looked grand and spectacular. She looked at it in awe.
So many cars and people were coming and hoping off. She knew that this was her time to shine. Alex got out and held out his hand for her to take. She took it and got out the car. She looped her arm around Alex's, and they made their way inside.
The place was huge, with diamond chandeliers. They got in and the waiter showed them to their seats. She took a gla.s.s of champagne and drank a bit. They sat down, and soon the place was packed with rich people ready to auction.
The auction began and Hailey started to look out for the potential clients. She would keep the people who made the highest bids. They were paintings, air looms, vintage things. After two hours of bidding, Hailey had many clients to go find.
After the bidding, everyone was encouraged to talk amongst themselves so that they could arrange the bidding items.
Hailey and Alex took this opportunity to go and talk to clients. They mingled and created an impressive impression. They gave out their business cards, flattered clients, told them why they would be the best suitable option and when they were done, they decided to call it a night.
They went out, they walked down the stairs to the parking lot to wait for their car to arrive. She shivered a bit and Alex took of his blazer and put it around her.
"Thank you."
"You welcome."
She put her arms into the jacket and enjoyed his scent. Alex put his arms around her and pressed her close. He really was warm. She saw their car coming and the driver came out,
"Hailey?"
She turned a fraction and she thought her eyes were deceiving her when she saw Colhane was the one who had called out to her in doubt, with other men next to him and she knew that there might be someone she was avoiding. She didn't look at everyone, she quickly turned back around. Why did he have to recognize her and draw attention. She could tell that all the men had stopped talking. Where they are staring at her.
Lucky for her they were up the stairs and she could afford an escape.
She slipped into the car quickly, and they drove away.
Yet a certain someone was left behind, staring after her.
