"Eh?"
After this awkward interaction we just stared at each other for a moment. Realising what she had just said, Mito's face turned into a **** cheery and tried to hide it with her hands. Seeing her bushful behaviour, I let out a small chuckle.
"Why did you ask me? I'm just a shin.o.bi that might have only met him once or twice, you know?" I asked her with a smile trying to calm her down a little.
"Father told me that he trusts you, so I thought that it was a good idea to consult about this matter with you... I'm sorry if I was wrong." She was about to leave; however, she was a little unlucky. I got interested in her story, so I caught her hand and forced her to sit back down.
"Can you tell me more about this? As a matter of fact, I might be able to help you a little later~" Probing into other people's lives is unforgivable, but this is something that concerns a person I consider a brother. I have a justified reason to know!
"Really?!" I could see a sparkle of hope in her eyes. Hehe, she caught the bait.
"Yup. After all, Hashiramnii-san is someone I interact a lot with!" I said proudly, adding some oil into the fire.
"N-n-nii-san?! I didn't know he had a cute little sister!" Even her shocked expression is cute.
"Well we are not blood related, but we consider each other as siblings of sorts. And that is why, as his sister, I must know as much as possible about your story!" I declared with puffed up chest.
"Well, I guess you are right..." Looks like she wasn't really willing to tell the story.
"I am a second child of the clan head, now Lord of the village, so I didn't have that many responsibilities. My elder brother is going to take over Father's position and I could sit back and relax. " She started her story.
"I was spoiled little girl. My Father is a really doting parent, like, really doting. He would get me whatever I want and whenever I want. Even though we did have blood relations with Senju clan, our involvement was minimal. We provided some sealing tags and that was basically it."
She looked at the sky and I could see that her face started to gain more blush.
"I was 4 when I first met him. His father had something to discuss with my Father and as a training of sorts, he brought eleven-years-old son with him. My Father, elder brother and I came out to greet them and..."
Her cheeks became slightly embarra.s.sed.
"What, did you fall for him at the first sight?~" Hehe, it's like I'm reading some kind of roman.
"In fact, no. When we met, after our official greetings, Father and elder brother left with Senju clan head of that time and we were left alone to our own devices. There was a really awkward silence between us, though only I seemed to mind. He was deep in thoughts and looked a little charming..."
"I got interested in him and decided to talk to this thoughtful boy... and made a mistake, well I thought I did at that time." Her eyes were filled with nostalgia and a light snicker escaped from her rosy lips.
"When I tried to get his attention and he finally noticed that I was there, he turned from charming boy into a jokester. Honestly speaking, I got a little disappointed. I endured for some time and left after half an hour, leaving him on one of the fields. His father soon picked him up and they left."
"That was our first encounter. We would meet occasionally and I slowly started to like his easy going side. We would talk and I gradually opened up a little. We became good friends."
"So when did you fall for him?" I asked her impatiently.
"He was 17 at that time, a year before he became the leader of his clan, and I was 10. Being the spoiled brat I was, I never trained properly or practiced in Fujitsu. I would rather go and play with my friends or stay home read a book with some sweets accompanying me."
"That when it decided to bite me back. Hashiramsama was already quite handsome and strong at that time, so I followed him everywhere and he was force to babysit me. We were playing with each other and somehow went a little too deep into the forest while playing hide-and-seek."
"I hid behind a large rock and waited for him to find me. Then, I heard a loud, intimidating growl right behind my back. I moved to the side and a sharp claw of the beast sliced the rock in halfs. I was shocked and my feet were trembling. I forced myself to stand up and was lucky enough to avoid its second attack with a tail as hard as metal."
"A large crater formed almost right besides me and my legs gave off. I couldn't stand, nore could I uttre a single word. I just froze in hopelessness. I could see the beast approaching and was able to make out every single detail of that thing. Four ma.s.sive, furry, lion-like, black legs; raisor sharp white teeth that appeared to be able to tear anything into shreds. Huge, round head with no ears and three eyes. Heavy tail was glistening with metallic light and sharp claws popped out of its paws."
'I see where this one going.' I thought to myself. I've red enough romans and it wasn't all that hard to guess what is to come next.
"I closed my eyes and was even able to feel disgusting breath of that creature on my skin. 'Hashirama... Eh? Why of all people would I think of him first?' A sudden thought flashed through my mind and at that moment I realised that he is more than a friend to me. I wanted to meet him. I wanted for him to save me."
"And you prince in shining armor appeared out of nowhere and defeated the vile creature in the fierce battle." I concluded.
"Well no. I mean he did appear; however, he defeated that beast with a few slushes of his sword. He stood right in front of me, like a mountain, sheltering me from all dangers. At that moment I fall in love with him."
While listening to her story, a small giggle escaped from my mouth without me noticing.
"What happened next?" I asked in curious tone. Her face brightened and her aura was emitting 'I managed to catch here interest!' kind of feel.
Honestly speaking, after seeing her and talking to her, I wasn't only listening to the story. I was evaluating her character, manners and behaviour. So far, she pa.s.ses with flying colours. She is restrained with her words, polite, honest and from her appearance before me, she is beautiful and quite skillful in seals.
"After we came back," she continued her story, "I asked Hashirama to keep that day's incident a secret. He was puzzled, but still agreed with a smile. I couldn't be around him anymore, because I felt that any more of his radiant warmth and I will faint."
"Later that night, a horrifying truth revealed itself. I wasn't worthy of him. I never trained properly and never intended to, but the one who I love, is an excellent shin.o.bi and future head of one of the most powerful clans. The marriage will most likely be opposed by many. I wanted to cry."
"That night, I decided to change and be worthy of him, before I told him about my feelings. The very next morning, I asked my Father for training and, even though he was shocked at sudden change, he was very happy and did all that he could to support it. Hashiramsama would occasionally come by as well and we had many spars."
"I see. You did improve a lot then."
"I did. Right now, I'm considered one of the best Fujitsu users. Actually, I was shocked when you spotted me. I used the strongest stealth seal I could.. "
"Hi-hi-hi, those things will never work on me."
The silence hanged in the air and I could feel that her aura wa getting restless.
I stood up. Her expression showed nothing, but antic.i.p.ation. A grin formed on my face.
'She pa.s.sed.' The last thing I wanted to test, was her courage and determination. If she was to become Hashiramnii-san's wife, she had to have them. Difficult decisions and sacrifices are always part of the life of the ruling figure.
"Okay! Let's go to the Lord's office!" I pulled her hand, forcing her to follow.
"Wh-what?! Why?!" She asked fl.u.s.tered. Hehe, I know you can guess. Your aura AND face betray you at those kind of moments.
"I need to discuss something with the Lord and I'll be taking you with me!"
