They will actually use a large portion of the taxed resources to take care of people. Even those that are not followers of their religion. In fact, it has come to the aid of many nations on the brink of destruction to aid in the defense against monster swarms. There have even been times when any of the demon lords or as the church likes to call them the evolved are defeated by the involvement special forces deployed by the church.
In all honesty, the CHS is probably one of not only humanities but sapient species of the surface in general greatest lines of defense. If there is one thing you can ever count on, it is that the church shall always be an ever-vigilant sentinel in the war against monster kind.

"Sure we can help you! But any humans that are killed and any potential vines and thorns you may lose will be ours after this fight." The pet.i.te fairy announced her terms with a wide innocent smile. All while wearing a dress made from various pieces from both low tier monsters and human bits.
Devil. These fairies are truly devils just like the old mythos of the original fairies. Why did they have to be the only ones who could move and craft stuff? Wait if the dryads could we would have already as a group! Not that the adventurers wouldn't chase us down. Well not that I wouldn't jump ship after killing a few humans anyways. I am only in this for the levels!
"Fine. I can accept those terms. But you best make sure to do what I tell you correctly!"

"Great! So what will you have us do?" The fairy replied happily. Now that I had their aid I started to explain to her what I wanted.

(Esmeraldas POV)
We made it. We actually made it. We managed to escape from that… flower. I still can't believe it. I'm still not sure what I saw that night was real. The fairies and the dryads working together was hardly the most unbelievable part. It didn't even look like anything special. Just a tier 0 monster. But yet it slaughtered so many of us before we had the chance to strike back. Between it and the fairies, they managed to make the whole attack fall apart.
"Hey, Esmeralda… What should we say about that… That flower?" One of my teammates Jakenson tentatively asked me obviously unsure about what we saw. So they really did see it too… It wasn't just my imagination. Even if I don't know what exactly it is I do know for sure that there must be a monster lord amongst the three types of monsters we saw. Otherwise, they would have never worked together like that.
"We'll just tell them what we saw. The biggest problem is the existence of a potential monster lord." I finally answered him with a grim expression etched onto my face. Jakenson nodded and looked ahead with a blank expression. With that, we entered the guild building we were standing in front of. The others had gone to get an inn for us so it was only the two of us here to report. Upon entering the guild we strode up to the front desk where the staff was stationed.
"Welcome back Es! I don't see the other guys who went with you. Did they die?" Toklan asked with a smirk on his face.
"No time for small talk. Get me the guild master. We have a potential monster lord to report." I whispered to him wary of anyone overhearing. At the mention of a monster lord he sobered up quickly and gestured for someone to take his place before speed walking away. A few minutes later he came back and gestured for us to follow him.
When we entered the guild leaders officer we were faced with a large black chair with its backrest facing towards us. It was the legendary artifact this branches guild leader acquired long ago and is the guild masters pride and joy. It was forged from an a.s.sortment of strange leathers, plastic, and foreign materials that were of foreign crafting far too advanced for any nation's current level of technology to come close to emulating. And on top of that, it was capable of spinning and rolling across the floor! Truly an astonishing artifact worthy of much admiration.
The chair spun around to reveal the guild master. A dwargon. He was a short and stocky person being only around 4 feet in height but with arms as thick as a grown man's legs and legs even thicker than that. In addition to that, he had light brown scales covering most of his body instead of skin. With the few exceptions being parts of the face and his head which had a grey buzz cut.
"So a demon lord?" He asked me while resting his elbows on the arms of the chair and finger tenting. All I could offer was a nod. To this, he sighed and closed his eyes before opening them back up.
"I'll gather some people. We'll head out tomorrow morning. Just give me any information you can. No matter how small it may seem." He finally told me. And with that, Jakenson and I began to tell him everything we knew.

Things were all going according to plan now that I had the a.s.sistance of the fairies. The adventurers would no doubt be far stronger than our loose coalition of monsters. Well, it can't even be called a proper coalition in the first place! This only furthers my point on the drastic difference in combat power our two groups have. But two big things can help turn this around. Maybe at least make the adventurers think twice about facing us again.
The first is our home ground advantage. Simply put we will know the terrain the best. Even if they recruited the villagers to help but I doubt the villagers would know as much as the fairies who live and fight in the depths of the forest, and I've been exploring quite a bit for long enough that I am moderately confident in my knowledge of the land. Then there's variable number two. Me. Or more accurately the knowledge I hold. And even more specifically on the knowledge of some of the traps used during guerilla warfare like in the Vietnam war for instance.
Most of the traps used during that time won't be usable by us but a few miniaturized versions will be. And those traps will be one of the things that will make the biggest impact on the potential upcoming conflict. Man. Now I feel like I'm playing a strategy game. Just one I can die in and I'm playing as the "bad guys." My life has really become strange ever since I came to this world...
