But that's not the only dungeon in existence. There are tens of dozens of types of dungeons. That's right types. There are forests dungeons that are formed entirely from plant life like trees that sp.a.w.n forest-based monsters and underwater dungeons and even entire floating islands that are in actuality just dungeons. I know it sounds hard to believe but that's the truth. I went their myself to confirm it and research it and I must say that the most amazing sights in the world are not the capital of gold in the empire. Not the great unstoppable naval fleet of the isles. Nor is it the fear-inspiring armies of the dread lords. It's the dungeons.
Each and every dungeon is its own unique ecosystem with its own monster types, and more are discovered every year in these dungeons! Some of them are as small as a wagon but on the inside contain entire large-scale environments of varying types. Others are so large that they encompa.s.s entire swaths of other continents. This my friends is why I believe dungeons are the most beautiful and terrifying things in the world.

Easy there. Slowly. Slowly. STOP! ..... Ok good. Keep going.
I'm currently sneaking my way to the human village for the procurement of information on the world in general and so far, no humans have spotted me. Not that there were any on the outside of the spiked walls which were pointed towards the forest, but one can never be too safe. I have to say this makes me feel like some type of James bond spy. Agent flower power? Nah sounds like a little girl. But I must say for a village smackdab in the middle of a forest filled with monster bunnies and frogs these people are rather lax. Maybe it's precisely that they only have to deal with rabbits and frogs instead of the giant scorpions and rats underground is the reason they're so lax?
That didn't matter to me though. What did matter was information and now my chance finally was here! I had managed to make it all the way to the edges of the people's little celebration undetected. As one might be able to figure out having the other persons day to day view be several feet above you most of the time really helps with sneaking around. The two closest people was a balding man who looked to be in his late 40's dressed in a simple tunic and pants.
The other person was a woman in her early 20's who had a simple blue dress on. The two of them looked somewhat similar in terms of hair color (What little hair the man had left) and were rather friendly with each other. If I had to guess they were either I a relationship or were family. Let's vote family. I planted myself not too far from them to make myself blend in better and leaned slightly forward to listen to them.
(1) "Jak bylo v práci?" The man said to the young women.
(2) "Bylo to dobré. Děti se dnes chovaly slušně." The lady replied with a smile.
…..
What the h.e.l.l am I listening to!? Russian!?
[New language encountered. Czech translation skill is available now. Cost 1 skill point.]
Ah, so that's what the language is. What the h.e.l.l!? Why did it have to be a foreign language!? This world really doesn't pull the punches when throwing me into disadvantageous situation after disadvantageous situation. Good thing there was a translation skill available. After purchasing it I listened to see if there was any difference in what the gibberish heard coming out of the two people's mouths.
(3) "To rád slyším. Jsem si jistý, že už sis to uvědomil, ale naštvané děti jsou jedna z nejhorších věcí, kterou člověk může zažít."
Well, there wasn't a change in the gibberish that poured from the man's mouth. But this time a slight tingle could be felt in the back of my mind and I was able to roughly gauge what he was saying. Nothing as good as specific words just the general idea. And that idea was that he was happy about something and that some other certain thing was bad. This skill is already earning its keep right from the get-go. Yeah right! Come on Alfred! You could have at least translated a few keywords! Well, at least I was able to get a general idea of what he said. That in itself was an improvement from knowing nothing.

Just as I was preparing to move to retreat back the forest, I heard a child giggle in glee and saw a child's hand reaching forward for me. Before I knew it, their hands tightened around my stem and with one swift tug pulled me out of the ground. I had thought they would be stabbed by my thorns, but I was surprised to see they had thick leather gloves on which my thorns weren't able to stab through. f.u.c.k. Go play with sticks, not with flowers child!
(4) "Mami, podívej! Krásná květina!" The little girl exclaimed in a voice filled with innocent delight while running over to an adult woman by the bonfire. The woman who I a.s.sumed was her mother turned to see what her daughter found.
(5) "To je krásná květina! Chceš, aby to máma dala do vázy ve tvém pokoji?"
Oh man, now I'm really hating this failure of a translation skill. I can't tell what the mother is saying, but based on the little girls' vigorous nodding and ecstatic smile it must have been something she liked. To think there'd be a day in which I'd be held hostage by a little girl. Rather embarra.s.sing but I can use this as a chance to investigate their village further without having to worry about sneaking around! Thank you, child. I will remember this taxi service you have done for me.
The mother led the way to a small cottage nearby. The house was rather humble and rustic and was designed like the log houses you often see in the 17th-century settlements in those old pictures of that age. When they brought me inside the mom went and grabbed a wooden vase and poured some water from a bucket into it and placed it on a small round table before gesturing to her daughter.
(6) "Tady máš. Maminka si teď jde promluvit s ostatními dospělými. Chovej se slušně." The mom said in a stern voice.
(7) "Ano, Mami!" The girl replied. Once her mother left she brought me over to the wood vase and placed me inside of it.
(8) "Pěstuj silnou květinku." She whispered to me before running off to do what kids do.
Now that I was alone I let myself sag into the vase I was placed into. That was close but I not only know they speak in a whole other language, got a translation skill, but now I managed to infiltrate one of their houses even if by accident. This will help me gain some insight into how far along they are in terms of technology and what the average person most likely has available to them. I took my time examining my surroundings.
The place was quaint I'll give it that. For one the table I was set upon looked like it was only just barely large enough for two people to sit at hinting at the two of them living alone. That theory was further reinforced when I spotted a single bed tucked away in the corner of the room large enough to fit both the girl and her mother. There was also a little fireplace that had a pot hanging inside of it.
That's probably where they'd usually cook at. The only other thing of note was a small dresser where their clothes most likely were stored at. I wasn't sure quite what I expected but this certainly wasn't it. Its barebones empty. Stripped of anything exciting except for the bare necessities. It is rather depressing. When thinking of it that way I'm the most colorful thing in this entire cabin.
Which was a sad considering I'm what people of this world would call a killer monster. But it's not my problem. My roots are full dealing with surviving in my day to day life. If they want to live better they'd have to do something about it themselves. Besides they seemed happy enough from what I saw. Now I knew that they weren't very advanced. At least in terms of construction. And I never saw any primitive guns. The closest thing to a self-defense weapon was a cleaver sticking out of a cutting board near the fireplace. Anyways there was no longer anything worth sticking around for. But was that really the case?
I had to admit my roots felt rather nice soaking in the water like this. Perhaps I'll stick around here for the day and sneak out at night. Yeah. Besides listening in on them talking could help level up my translation skill without doing any actual work to get skill points. Sounds like an easy win to me!
(Short time skip towards the night)
....
They were still partying. Whatever the good news was it certainly must have been great because it must have been the middle of the night by now! Worse yet the owners of the house haven't stopped by once for a chat so I haven't had any chances to level up my translation skill yet. Which was something I couldn't stand for! Not now not ever! I'm going out on an expedition. I can come back here anytime to find some information once I have my translation skill up at a higher level. It wasn't going anywhere after all.
Using my vine thorns I pulled myself out of the vase and used my stealth skill to sneak out of the house. If it was easy mode to sneak past these people before then this was baby mode with how easy it was. They really need to be more on their toes. Not all flower monsters are smart enough to realize fighting a village of humans would turn out bad.
Before I go looking to level up there was a certain something I wanted to do. I needed to gather some supplies and build my own house! Yes I know I am a flower and shouldn't need a house but I'm a human in my heart and I very much enjoy having a roof in my head. I'm not a very outdoorsy type of person so having a little shack of my own would be nice.
And it's not a far fetched idea to make one since I now have these hand dandy vines of mine! I soon was back into the forest and walked back to the dryads grove collecting sticks along the way. I needed a hut big enough for me so I gathered sticks that were around a few centimeters in diameter and a foot long. If they were too long I'd just cut them down to size. Too thick? Shave off the excess. My thorns are truly multi-purpose! By the time I made it back, I managed to collect a bundle of over twenty sticks. A good haul I must say. But the travel was slower without the sun to fuel me with the abundance of strength that I had grown so used to.
When I arrived at the grove though I was treated to a sight that was reminiscent of the fourth of July fireworks. Just without the banging. There were dozens of bright multicolored light flying about in the grove.
