Incapable Dreams 15 Sorrow Wolves

"We'll sleep tonight and start walking first thing in the morning." The Empress announced.

"Yes, your highness." We said in unison.

"Good, now th-" But before she can continue, there was a growl somewhere near by.

"w-what was that?" Asked a young girl probably ten years old, from the crowd.

"I don't know dear." The Empress admitted.

The growl came again louder this time and closer.

"Oh, no, this can't be happening." The Emperor exclaimed.

"What's going on!" I demanded. "Is there something out there?!"

"Yes!" Emily yelled. "That is "

As if on cue, a wolf appeared out of nowhere. It had brown and white fur and gold eyes.

And they looked dangerous.

My legs quivered.

"Sorrow Wolf." Emily finished.

"What are we going to do?!" I demanded.

"Shhh..." Noah hushed me. "Your going to attract the wolf more."

I bit my lips hard.

I stared at the wolf wishing it'll go away.

But, it stepped closer to us and we backed up.

"Go away." I whispered.

The wolf's eyes averted to me and c.o.c.ked it's head to one side.

Then, without warning, it lunged at us.

I screamed.

"RUN!" The Empress shouted.

And I ran.

I ran as fast as I could and didn't look back.

I saw people running away from the wolf but, it wasn't chasing them.

It was chasing me.

I choked on my tears as I ran and I thought I was losing it but then another one popped up in front of me.

I stopped in my tracks.

I tried going the other way but then another one came.Then another.

And another.

Until I was surrounded and couldn't run away anymore.

Then one of them lunged at me and I fell on the ground and felt something piercing in my left shoulder.

It was the wolf's teeth.

I bit my lips and avoided screaming.

And I felt myself falling.

I thought this was the end and I surrendered.

I gave up...
