Little Cutie, Come Here (14)

Xie Fei dribbled the ball with one hand, the other squeezing Su Yin's hand. The dizzying yellow light of the sun spilled his tall and straight figure, like a coat of blinding radiance. Su Yin looked at his chiseled side profile, her breathing turning slow and her heart ineffably beginning to beat faster. She bite her lip, her hand slowly and surely interlocking with his big hand.

"How do you want to play?" Xie Fei slowly asked with a pondering tone, his gaze moving to look at Jiang Hui. The hand Xie Fei was using to dribble the ball suddenly paused, his lips rising to a cheerful angle.

Jiang Hui's eyes fixed on their interlocked hands, his gaze. He felt it was completely offensive. He had clearly settled on her first. What right did Xie Fei have to cut him off in the middle?

And his first place ranking in the year had also been stolen by Xie Fei. He couldn't accept it!

"One one one, how about it?" Jiang Hui's lips quirked up, revealing a cold sneer.

His greatest skill was basketball. A one on one game wouldn't just show the difference between his and Xie Fei's ability. He would also get the chance to toy with Xie Fei and properly vent his anger in front of everyone.

"Come on." Xie Fei said indifferently. He let go of Su Yin's hand, pa.s.sing the basketball in his hands to her. "I'll be done soon. Wait for me with Zhou Zhiwei and the others."

Su Yin took the ball, nodding obediently. She only realized that the basketball court was already full of bustling activity when she turned around. She looked at the bleachers around them, her mind turning into a jumble. She couldn't find the blockhead Zhou Zhiwei.

It was Liu Yan who saw Su Yin looking around everywhere first. He immediately stood up, waving to her. He shouted, "Su-jie, over here."

Su Yin ran over, carrying the b.a.l.l.s and sitting close to Liu Yan. She hesitantly asked, "Where's Zhou Zhiwei? I didn't see him."

Liu Yan took the b.a.l.l.s eagerly, putting them aside. Smiling, he said, "Wei-ge went to find all the people to have them come and watch the show, he'll be here right away."

"…" Su Yin had nothing to say. No wonder so many people had gathered around after such a short time.

Under the scorching rays of the sun with the rapid, indistinct noises of the surrounding girls' conversation buzzing in her ears, Su Yin felt a little agitated. She lifted her head to look in the center of the basketball court. Jiang Hui was warming up. He wore a showy basketball jersey, revealing his tanned, powerful arms. On the other hand, Xie Fei wore the cool and refreshing school uniform, standing cleanly at the side. His bearing was refined and his brow calm.

In just that one glance, Su Yin's restless mind became calm. It was as though her surroundings had faded away. She could only hear the beating of her heart getting faster.

Jiang Hui finished his exercise and walked towards Xie Fei. Su Yin slowly began to frown—comparing the the two of them standing together, Jiang Hui looked even more like a school tyrant. Although she had seen Xie Fei fighting before, it was hard not to worry about him.

Was Xie Fei good at basketball? Could he beat Jiang Hui?

Zhou Zhiwei had already come back. He sat on the other side of Liu Yan. He took a sip of water and asked, "They're doing a one on one?"

"I think so." Liu Yan turned his gaze away from his phone, looking towards Su Yin. He asked, "Su-jie, is it one on one?"

Su Yin nodded dazedly. "Jiang Hui suggested it."

Zhou Zhiwei immediately spat out his drink. "Is his brain fried? Playing basketball against Fei-ge solo, isn't he just looking for a beating?"

Yang Jie laughed. "Then again, Jiang Hui has always been on the basketball team. I heard he's pretty good. Maybe he's not looking for a beating."

"So what if he's on the basketball team, he still can't win. I'm willing to guarantee there's n.o.body who can go beat that weirdo Xie Fei's motor nerves," Luo Jiang retorted, shrugging.

On the court, Xie Fei and Jiang Hui were using a round of rock paper scissors to decide which hoop belonged to who. When Jiang Hui won, he smirked. The index finger of his right hand rose up to point at Su Yin, then his thumb pointed at himself. Finally, he gave Xie Fei a provocative "you can't" gesture. The stands immediately rose up in surprised clamor.

Wei Xiaoqin stood in the very back of the ground and didn't see Jiang Hui's gestures, but her fury raged in her heart. Jiang Hui actually wanted to compete with Xie Fei over Su Yin. This was clearly a direct attack on her. What did he mean by this? Did he like Su Yin? Was he planning to two time right in front of her?

Zhou Zhiwei clicked his tongue, shaking his head. "He's really got guts, he even dares to fight over a girl with crazy wife guard, school tyrant Xie Fei. He's simply looking for death."

Su Yin's face went 囧. She lowered her head silently, her face turning red.

Liu Yan said, "Seeing Xie Fei look so murderous, I suddenly feel bad for Jiang Hui."

Luo Jiang nodded. "He overestimated himself."

Yang Jie sighed. "Isn't it good enough to live a good life?"

On the court, the cla.s.smate acting as a referee raised his right hand, whistling. Jiang Hui's right hand rapidly dribbled the ball, on the offensive. He dashed towards the hoop in one step. In a flash, Xie Fei was blocking.

Jiang Hui's footsteps paused. He dribbled to the side, glancing everywhere in the hopes of making a breakthrough. His shoulders raised towards the left, making a feint, but his feet moved rapidly to the other side. In a moment, he would pa.s.s Xie Fei, but Xie Fei had already seen through him. He stepped sideways, meeting Jiang Hui face-to-face, and seized control of the basketball with a tap of his hand. He turned, jumped, and flicked his wrist. The basketball flew in a beautiful arc, sinking straight into the basket under everyone's gaze.

His movements were graceful and smooth. A single basket took him only a few seconds.

The referee whistled, shouting, "Score for Xie Fei!"

Everyone stared in shock. In the next moment, they erupted in shocked enthusiasm. "Good play!"

"Beautiful!"

"Took the ball, turned, and made a basket all in one movement! Awesome!"

Xie Fei had actually stolen a point from him. Jiang Hui stood still, his face turning red and his eyes fixed on Xie Fei. His gaze burned with raging fury, as though trying to set Xie Fei on fire with his gaze alone. The hands hanging at his sides squeezed into fists. He clenched his teeth, shouting, "Again!"

Xie Fei carelessly dribbled the ball, moving at a relaxed pace. He bent slightly, his hands alternating on the ball, and rapidly approached.

Jiang Hui blocked the basketball hoop, his fierce gaze focused on Xie Fei's each and every move. Seeing him rushing at him, he immediately stepped up, his hands spreading to block in front. He watched the ball, looking for a chance to steal it.

Xie Fei smirked slightly. He stopped suddenly, stepped backwards, and without even taking aim, he shot towards the basket. The basketball arched towards the hoop again. Everyone held their breath, their gazes locked on the basketball.

With a indifferent swish!, the basketball fell accurately into the hoop.

A three pointer!

The crowd cheered. Jiang Hui's face was full of shock. Just now, he had watched with wide eyes as the basketball flew over his head and into the hoop. It wasn't strange that he hadn't been able to react. There was n.o.body who would have thought that Xie Fei actually had the guts to make a shot from so far away, and even made the shot! In that moment, a nameless feeling rose in Jiang Hui's heart.

Fear? Regret? Shock? Or was it all of them?

No, how could it be? It had to be a fluke. Don't be scared, don't panic, there was no way he could lose. He was the the on Yizhong High School's basketball team, one of the best teams in the province. There was n.o.body who could beat him!

"Are we still playing?" Xie Fei asked coolly, dribbling the ball.

"We're playing! You just got lucky, that's all. There won't be a next time!" Jiang Hui spat.

The battle on the court was fierce. The crowd watching from the side was even more excited. Xie Fei's handsome appearance and his calm att.i.tude along with his dominating control of the ball was blinding. One after another, they started to follow after Zhou Zhiwei and Liu Yan's shouts. "f.u.c.k that pretty boy, f.u.c.k him!"

Seeing Xie Fei like this made Su Yin recall the first time she had seen him fight. He had been just as imposing and thrilling. Her eyes and her mind was all filled with his figure. There was no room for anything else.

Su Yin had returned to her senses just in time to see Xie Fei doing a layup with the ball. Jiang Hui jumped with all his might, his right hand raising high and smacking fiercely down at the ball in an attempt to block.

The crowd on the bleachers opened their mouths wide, their eyes focused on the scene and their fists clenched nervously. Su Yin stood up to stare at Xie Fei, her gaze unmoving, with the same nervousness, her face flushing and her pearly white teeth biting at her lower lip.

In the air, Xie Fei gave Jiang Hui a cold glance. His slim, strong waist twisted, and he evaded Jiang Hui's forceful block. He pa.s.sed the ball to his left hand in the blink of an eye, and lightly tossed the ball. The ball bounced lightly, then fell towards the ground in a corresponding swish.

Xie Fei landed deftly, standing up just as the ball bounced to the ground with a loud bang. Jiang Hui fell to the ground, feeling as though all the bones in his body had broken. His eyes turned red. He glared at Xie Fei, his organs burning in fury and hatred.

"Dammit!" He pounded the ground with a fist, the veins on his forehead protruding. Large drops of sweat dripped off his brow.

"How else do you want to compete with me?" Xie Fei was calm and cool. "No matter what it is, you'll lose. Su Yin can only be mine."

He wasn't disdainful. He wasn't scornful. But his indifferent att.i.tude made Jiang Hui even angrier. He stood up slowly, his expression dark. His arms hurt. When he had fallen just now, it had broken skin. There was some blood coming out from the sc.r.a.pes. But none of this could compare to how much his heart hurt.

He had come to pick a fight, full of confidence. In reality he had been forced into sore straits.

Xie Fei had already turned away, leaving with Su Yin. Everyone watched him leave, beginning to gossip. "OhmyG.o.dohmyG.o.d, so hot! f.u.c.k, Xie Fei's so hot, I've fallen in love!"

"Forget about it, this piece of land already has an owner."

"I know, it's Su Yin. She's too lucky, her boyfriend's so hot, even his grades are good, and he's good at baseball and fighting. There's no need to talk about his family background. Basically, Xie Fei is too sweet to her."

"Jiang Hui couldn't even touch him in his specialty basketball, my G.o.d, how good is Xie Fei?"

"So humiliating, he tried to pick a fight when he only had these skills…"

"He was beaten so bad. Whether it's substance, face, girls, he's got f.u.c.king nothing, haha!"

Hearing the jeers coming from all around him, the metallic taste of blood rose in Jiang Hui's throat. His entire body trembled uncontrollably, his teeth gritting against each other. His jaw was clenched hard, his eyes crimson red. His gaze flew across everyone's taunting faces, and the memories hidden deeply in his heart flashed across his mind—jeers, taunts, pity, sympathy…

The feelings he hadn't felt in a long time surged into his brain. In that moment, he utterly hated that there wasn't a fissure in the ground that he could tunnel into.

Outside of the court, Wei Xiaoqin had seen everything. She couldn't stay angry any more. She watched as Jiang Hui's hands dripped with blood, her heart aching, and immediately pushed aside the crowd and ran to his side. She supported him up, staggering to the infirmary.

The protagonists had already left. The surrounding onlookers similarly dispersed. But the day's show had left them all with a lasting impression. It had completely wiped clean their understanding of Xie Fei—Xie Fei wasn't just a school tyrant, he was a tyrant of everything.

The author has something to say:
(thanking readers for their support)

"The Taoism Grandmaster" is really good, I like Zi Liuli, she's so cute~ Anyone else think the same?

T/N: Thank you so much for waiting for this chapter, everyone! I'm really really sorry to announce this but I need to slow down updates ? I know recently I've been late very very frequently (especially this time…) but school is just taking too much time, especially this semester. Short vent but I'm taking three of the prerequisites to declare my major and they are all very time-consuming on their own, and I expect that the organization I am involved in is going to really step up the workload as well. I will no longer have an update schedule, but I will try to update as often as I can! I promise that I haven't dropped it and I am still working on chapters! I plan to translate this novel to the end ?

Also, I just wanted to gauge everyone's feelings on this, because I've recently noticed that there's actually a good number of translators who split chapters and it works out totally fine, but would you guys prefer it if I updated chapters more frequently but split into parts? I wouldn't add these on NovelUpdates or to my table of contents–I want the chapters available there to be as close as possible to what the author intended–but I would make them available on my site as posts (like I've done in the past with teasers)! Let me know what you guys think! Again, thank you for your patience, I am so so grateful for your understanding ❤ ❤ ❤
