CHAPTER 7 : ADDICTED

“Can you lend it to me?” Zhang Yang held the book close to him, and looked up to the girl.

“What.. The …?” Zhang Yang saw the girls face, his whole body jumped in fierce like a spring, before the girl could react, his figure had disappeared up in the stairs. “My book! My book…! d.a.m.n you perverted, peeping maniac!”

Fleeing from the scene to the fifth floor, Zhang Yang could feel his heart in his hand, beating violently, and with the sound of the girl yelling from downstairs, he realized that he was still holding the math book. Naturally, Zhang Yang did not dare to go below the stairs because he knew that girl, she was his greatest enemy at school. Among the hundreds of photograph that he had uploaded before, more than half of the pictures were of that girl, and furthermore there were several pictures that revealed a lot.

Allegedly that girl had once ruthlessly said that, as long as she gets the hold of Zhang Yang, she would torture him to death.

The girl was not from an ordinary background, her name was Xiao Yirin, a well-known family name. She had no parents, she only had a brother whom she could depend upon. Rumor had it that the brother has quite a relationship with the underground forces of the C city. Zhang Yang wasn’t quite sure whether it was true or not but at any rate the students and his surrounding circle believes in it so he was quite concerned that the brother would come find him in the school.

After climbing the fifth floor Zhang Yang quickly closed the door, the dormitory was still very quiet, some of the roommates were still sleeping inside plus the room had a sweet fragrant. He could hear the “bang” “bang” sound of his heart beating while he lay down on his bed. It took him a lot of time to recover from this panic attack. The girl’s brother was too much of a pressure to him, his legend itself was more than enough to make people tremble with fear. All those information concluded that Xiao Yirin’s brother was a ruthless guy.

“d.a.m.n it! I will not take a step out of school, I don’t still believe that you can come to school to kill…” After calming down for a bit, his spirit came to life again, “A dead pig doesn’t fear scalding water”. Zhang Yang thought of the math book, he was still holding it in his hands. The book emitted a faint smell of ink, it was new, as he opened the t.i.tle page and he could see Xiao’s signature and the purchase date,” Actually bought a new book in August! Please take good care of her.” Looking at the book, all of a sudden, the fear that Zhang Yang had was casted away and a strong urge to read the book took all the troubles away from him.

In a matter of time, Zhang Yang was indulged in the wonderful world of mathematics, needless to say, it was a very good book. The entire field of Mathematics, its basic concepts along with the methods made a profound as well as a clear explanation in the book. The time was elapsing slowly, Zhang Yang could not help but pick up a pen and started to write and draw, a number of iconic symbols, and occasionally writing his own ideas and some several methods of mathematical operations on the blank pages. He’d completely forgot about the owner of the book. The time was flowing in an alarming rate, Zhang yang did not notice any of his roommate’s entry or exits. He was completely drowned in this world of numbers, where, he was the master of all, he was the general existence of G.o.d!

“Zhang Yang! Are you reading a novel? Common, eat something!” One of his roommates entered with a lunchbox.

Astonishingly, an extreme sense of fatigue and hunger hit his heart, a sweet aroma overflowed from the lunchbox and pulled him out of the addictive mathematical world at once. Zhang Yang felt like pa.s.sing out due to weakness. “What time is it? I have not had any breakfast yet.” Zhang Yang remembered that he’d actually forgotten to eat breakfast after he met Xiao Yirin. “Breakfast?” his roommate looked surprised” Is this a time to have breakfast? I’m already having dinner”. “” Ah. Dinner?” Zhang Yang jumped out of the bed, picked up the lunchbox and rushed to the dining hall.

To one’s surprise he was unconsciously lying on the bed for the entire day with the book, without eating anything till dinner time, “d.a.m.n it! From when did I became fond of learning?”

“Let’s take a look, what kind of erotic novel was our peeping prince looking at……..  ‘The basic concept and ideas’……. When did this kid started to learn, was he actually looking at such profound Mathematics book all day?”The second Zhang Yang went, the roommate picked up the book on the bed to read.

“Let me see.” The other roommate who was resting on another bed took the book and turned a page. “Come here, take a look at this, he’s into this girl, do you not see, the signature in the book is of Xian Yirin, and it was bought in August…. Strange, strange…. “How?” “That guy and Xiao Yirin are sworn enemies, when did they ever meet up? And this book was bought at the end of August and now it is in Zhang Yang’s hand, you say, isn’t this surprising?”

“As a matter of fact, Zhyang Yang vanished for the entire summer, he’d been working in the C city and living in school for three years of summer vacation.”

“Well, it’s quite weird…” “Could it be … Is it possible that their relationship transcended from enemy to a friend…? Is Zhang Yang not afraid of Xiao’s brother slicing him up??”  “Over the past three years I haven’t seen a single person who dares to chase after Xiao Yiran.”

Their dry gossip, literally raised from the problems of Mathematic books to Zhyang Yang and Xiao Yirin’s ambiguous relationship.

These gossips were making false statements, meanwhile Zhang Yang was running towards the dining hall with the lunch box in his hand, but only to run half way as he forcibly stopped as e remembered that he didn’t have his wallet, the rice coupon was gone too, and most importantly, his ATM card was also in the wallet.

“Should I look for the girl from the train?”

“Or find someone to solve my life’s problem first?”

After a little thought, Zhang Yang finally made a decision, then went to the dormitory not to find the junior girl but to find Liu Biao to solve his life’s problem first.

Liu Biao was the only friend he had in school, good for nothing, arrogant and despotic, often found fooling around with the gangsters outside the school, in addition to chasing after girls. Everyone was weirded out with the bizarre combination of Zhang Yang, a cowardly timid introvert and then an orangutan mixed together.

Zhang yang had an eccentric personality, more likely a loner, Although sometimes, he’d talk with others for borrowing money for meals, but still he would rather try to find Liu Biao to open up and unwilling to approach the roommates and cla.s.smates.

In the three years of University, if Zhang Yang hadn’t shocked the entire nation with his greatest involvement on the peeping event, the entire XX College if Art and Sciences, it was unlikely that not more than 50 people would recognize him, in fact Zhang Yang’s cla.s.s itself had more than forty students.

Even if Zhang Yang’s social circle appeared small, in the three years duration of University, along with normal school work, he would slash his head to find some part time jobs in the C city even in Sat.u.r.days and the Sundays. If there was nothing else to do, he would spend his time lingering in the Internet Café outside the campus grounds.

Addicted to the network, this is where he made a connection with the gatekeeper Uncle w.a.n.g.

“Uncle w.a.n.g, please lend me a phone call”. Zhang yang slipped into the doorman’s room, with a whole hearted facial expression. There were no cell phone in the entire school, except with few and Zhang Yang was precisely one of them.
