Chapter 35 . 1: Trapped in the Raging Flames PaG.o.da

Phoenix Song Palace .

Looking at the empty palace before her, Duanmu Xi creased her eyebrows and walked in slowly .

After she walked deeper in, Duanmu Xi saw the portraits of the Lady Emperors of the past generations . Below the portraits were the memorial tablets of the Lady Emperors and Empresses .

A glint flashed by her eyes .

The family rules of the Duanmu family were really strange . When these Empresses were still alive, they were not allowed to enter the Phoenix Song Palace one step . Yet after they had pa.s.sed on, their memorial tablets were allowed to be placed in here .

Were they afraid that these Lady Emperors were lonely and needed company?

When her curious gaze landed on the bright yellow praying mat on the ground, she smiled wryly .

Thinking back, after she had arrived at Heaven’s Sea Continent, she had not even lowered her head to even her father and mother, but now she had to start here from these memorial tablets .

What happened? Where was this place?

A black robed man appeared out of thin air and immediately knelt on one knee before Xuanyuan Mo .

“Your subordinate greets Your Highness . ”

Xuanyuan Mo’s brows furrowed even deeper, “What is it?”

Yu Ying respectfully reported, “The Emperor has a secret imperial decree and has called for Your Highness to return to the palace . ”

“Do you know what is it about?” His brows creased again .

A glint flashed by Yu Ying’s eyes as he lowered his head and replied , “Your subordinate does not know . ”

“Retreat . ”

Yu Ying said wryly, “Your Highness…”

“Retreat . ”

His voice was colder than before .

“Your subordinate shall retreat first . ”

Yu Ying did not dare to hesitate anymore and disappeared immediately .

Three days pa.s.sed, and not only Xuanyuan Mo was worried about Duanmu Xi, even Duanmu Xue and Huangfu Che began to worry .

Duanmu Xue entered the Phoenix Song Palace personally, but could not find any traces of Duanmu Xi .

“Your Highness, the Emperor has already made three secret imperial edicts . Your Highness, please return to White Tiger Kingdom . ”

There was a trace of bitterness in Yu Ying’s voice .

When the two heard that Xuanyuan Mo had to go, they were both surprised .

“Young Master Xuanyuan, do you really have to go? Won’t you wait for Little Xi to come out?”

“That’s right, Young Master Xuanyuan if you left like this, what do we tell Little Xi when she comes out?” Duanmu Xue also said .

Xuanyuan Mo’s amber eyes flashed lightly .

“Two seniors, this junior too would also like to wait for Little Xi to come out, but this junior has no choice but to return to the White Tiger Kingdom now . This junior has a letter here and would need to trouble two seniors to hand it over to her . ”

In the blink of an eye, more than twenty days had pa.s.sed .

Duanmu Xi still did not come out and although Duanmu Xue had entered the Phoenix Song Palace once again, she still found nothing .

“Che, it’s been such a long time and Little Xi is still not out . Could it be that…”

Duanmu Xue’s face was full of regret as she continued on with furrowed brows, “It’s all my fault, if I knew that it would be like this, I would never let Little Xi to have a contract with the Vermillion Bird Kingdom’s Divine Beast Protector . Now she is even missing . ”

No matter how good the Vermillion Bird Kingdom’s Divine Beast Protector was, it could never be better than her Little Xi .

When he saw how anxious Duanmu Xue was and how much blame she was taking upon herself, Huangfu Che’s heart was so distressed that he embraced her to comfort her .

Duanmu Xue nodded her head and said, “Mn, I should believe in our Little Xi, she will definitely be able to do it . ”

Suddenly, she thought of something and continued on, “The day after tomorrow is Little Xi’s birthday celebration . Now that we don’t know where she is, do we still continue on this birthday celebration?”

A glint flashed by Huangfu Che’s eyes .

“Since Little Xi is not here, we shall cancel the celebration and wait till Little Xi is back, we shall compensate her then . ”

Duanmu Xue tightened her brows and let out a soft sigh .

“Alright then, we can only do it this way . ”

Xuanyuan Lie looked at his favourite son before him and fleered .

“Oh, you are finally willing to come back . ”

“What’s the reason for summoning me so urgently back to the palace? What is it?” Xuanyuan Mo did not  pay any heed to the ridicule in Xuanyuan Lie’s voice and asked indifferently .

Xuanyuan Lie creased his brows and a trace of dissatisfaction fleeted by his eyes .

“Tomorrow you will be selecting your Empress . ”

If he was not going to help him pick an Empress, he would really fly away .

Xuanyuan Mo frowned immediately and retorted, “I do not need you to worry about my affairs, I already have a girl that I like . ”

Why was the Emperor so free and idle? Did he have nothing better to do! 

“A girl that you like?” Xuanyuan Lie harrumphed coldy and said, “Is it the Crown Princess of the Vermillion Bird Empire?”

Xuanyuan Mo was stunned for a moment before he answered with a scowl, “Yes . ”

“I do not agree . ”

Xuanyuan Lie looked at his own son who was as cold as an iceberg as he bellowed in rage .

Xuanyuan Mo simply raised an eyebrow in a taunt and said, “It doesn’t matter, no one needs your approval . ”
