"It was because he wanted to help his friend. There's a girl named Feng Wu that lives with us. She's the one who… this afternoon she -" Jasmine was br.i.m.m.i.n.g with hatred. She needed to vent it somehow so when Zi Cheng asked, she was more than happy to answer. She told Zi Cheng about the public confession, about how Feng Wu shamelessly dogged Senior Ming Xi for an answer, about the fight they had at dinner. She told her about how Jier interrupted them and how he humiliated her in front of all the other girls.
"Feng Wu confessed to Senior Ming Xi?" Zi Cheng's mouth was a small 'o' of surprise. She couldn't believe it was the same girl. The one she remembered didn't like to laugh or talk. It was unimaginable a girl like that would confess so publicly to someone.
"Yes. We underestimated how utterly shameless she is! She's acting this way even though she already has a baby! I only said a few words to her and this is what Jier did to me! The two of them must have some kind of clandestine relationship."
"On top of that, a woman with a baby born out of wedlock is no good. It's horrible living in the same s.p.a.ce as her!" Jasmine unloaded dirt on Feng Wu without holding back.
Jasmine's face was full of disdain. She maliciously used the most misleading words to describe the relationship between Feng Wu and Jier. The two definitely had some kind of illicit affair. Had it not been for the complete lack of physical resemblance, she would have suggested Feng Wu and Jier were lovers and the baby a result of some tawdry affair.
"Feng Wu has a baby?" Zi Cheng was so surprised she actually jumped a little. Feng Wu was only fourteen and half. To be a mother at such a young age. How terrifying!
There were girls like that back in her original world as well. They didn't like to learn but preferred to fool around. It was unexpected that the outwardly quiet Feng Wu who looked like such a simple girl was so wild in her private life.
"It's true! The baby even stays with her in the dorm! Jasmine and I should never have agreed to let her keep the baby here. This is a school you know, a place for learning, not a place to raise a baby."
Jasmine regretted not reporting Feng Wu to the school administrators. If she had reported it she would have been able to get Feng Wu expelled. She was sure Xingguang Holy Academy wouldn't tolerate a student with such questionable character as one who would have baby so young.
"She keeps her baby here?!" Zi Cheng was shocked. After living two lives, Zi Cheng considered herself an old lady with decades of life experience. She was a confident judge of character. Feng Wu had looked like a simple girl. But clearly she had misjudged!
For the first time Zi Cheng doubted herself. Was Yifu right? Was Feng Wu just putting on an act the entire time?
"Yes, the baby has been here the whole time. There's even a shengmu beast that acts as a nanny."
"The school doesn't mind?" Though Zi Cheng was from the 21st century, she had never heard of a school that allowed babies in the dorms with the students.
"The school doesn't know. Annika and I were too kind and didn't report it to the administrators. Her days here are about to end though. Tomorrow morning we're going to report how she's been hiding the baby here. Let's see if she has the guts to show her face around after that."
Annika almost wanted to say something at Jasmine's words, but she held herself back. Jasmine was the victim. Annika reasoned it was better for her to remain neutral and uninvolved.
Zi Cheng was a sweet, gentle girl. It was easy for her to make friends and in no time at all Jasmine saw her as a confidante and close friend.
...The next day the entire school was abuzz with how Feng Wu was brazenly raising her baby at school. Rumors flew left and right. Jasmine spread it as fast as she could. She wanted Feng Wu humiliated, but more importantly she wanted the news about her own near nudity suppressed. She needed to distract everyone. What better way to do that than to spread even juicier gossip? A rumor about Feng Wu having a baby out of wedlock and keeping it at school was perfect.
She believed the school would act and expel Feng Wu. Having her as a student would surely bring shame to the school.
Ink and Jier heard the rumors as well. Ink didn't know if it was true or not, but he fully intended to back Feng Wu.
Xi found out about the rumors earlier in the morning. There were many who knew Xi and Feng Wu were roommates, so those on good terms with Xi took the opportunity to ask about it. She didn't want to be an unwitting accomplice to the rumors, but at the same time she wasn't sure how to answer without incriminating Feng Wu. In the end she refused to speak. Unfortunately her silence only reinforced the veracity of the rumors.
Feng Wu received strange looks all day.
"I didn't think Feng Wu was such a s.l.u.t. She looked like such a nice simple girl."
"To be such a such a young mother. What was she thinking?"
"I knew she wasn't a good person. Don't you know she's always around that magician Jier? Who knows how long those two have been getting it on? Ink is also with her a lot. She really knows how to attract 'em."
"Yeah. Yesterday she confessed to Senior Ming Xi in front of so many people. So shameless. To already have a child out of wedlock and still pursue our gentle Ming Xi."
"d.a.m.n women! Stop talking so much. You don't even know the story and you're spreading around more rumors." Ink pointed a finger at the group of girls who were gossiping furiously.
The girls knew it was wrong to talk about people behind their backs. Seeing the person they were gossiping about appear in front of them made them embarra.s.sed so they quickly dispersed.
Ink looked around, and upon seeing the many small groups still quietly gossiping around Feng Wu, walked over to her. He helped her carry her textbooks then pulled her out of the cla.s.sroom, intending to walk her back to her dorm. He was afraid if he left her there some jerk would try to make trouble for her.
