Chapter 318: The Lake Gla.s.s Metal
There was an excoriating pain from within his soul as he crouched down on the ground.
On the back, one of the servants who had picked a treasure was struck down by lightning.
Seeing that, the youth's face turned pale while Sang Guan shook his head. "No fighting is allowed inside the treasure room. We can only fight when we're still within the corridor."
The youth then recalled the elder's warning and began to feel afraid. He originally had two additional lives but now that the two lives had been lost… the next attack would surely hit him.
If he was not careful enough, he would die…
"Pick your treasure, we're leaving." Sang Guan sneered and took a bottle that he had picked after ordering his servant to take a different bottle.
The youth could only nod then follow Sang Guan. His heart was terrified.
On the other hand, Lin Xiao was watching everything while calming his head. He felt a bit surprise but he calmed down almost instantly. He felt that after he had already executed the movement one time, his heart could take more actions and deemed it as normal.
"So that's how that subst.i.tution works."
"Naturally, there's a price to pay. Since you're linking your soul with someone else, the moment that the connection was severed, you'll experience excruciating pain. A part of your soul is also damaged and it's unlikely that you'll be able to recover." Lin Hu snorted.
Lin Xiao was stunned. "If there's such high price, why are they still using that?"
"That's because having your soul wounded is better than dying, isn't?"
Well, Lin Xiao couldn't refute that.
If their soul was wounded, there was still a chance in the future that they would recover. On the other hand, if they died, then it was all over. There was never any chance for them to do anything anymore.
But still… these so called geniuses were too reckless, alright?
"By the way, this technique, is it genuine?"
"Yes. Only the first step, though." Lin Hu glanced up and yawned. "You'll need to go out of this small area if you wish to find out more about the next steps and so on. But if you continue to practice this, you'll learn how to protect your mind from invasion of illusions and many others."
Lin Xiao was astounded and nodded. He did feel that he was much calmer. Now that he had adjusted his mental state, it was time to look at the treasure.
"Uh… I don't know what they are."
"There are Black Serpent Horn, Spirit Beast Blood, Metal…"
Hu Fei had already finished doing the movement and felt incomparably excited. Unlike Lin Xiao who didn't know the true worth of the movement, he knew very well that it was such a good movement that would allow him to grow much stronger than the current him right now.
How could he not be excited?
With this movement, he would be less likely affected by illusion and naturally it meant that his mental state would be much higher than other people.
For cultivator, what was important was innate talent, resources, and also their mental state. The stronger a cultivator's mind and will was, the higher they would reach in their cultivation in the future.
It was important.
"You sure know your trade." Lin Xiao was stunned. It was then he noticed a word that he didn't recognize. "What's Spirit Beast?"
"Beast with higher rank that most beast." Hu Fei paused for a moment. "You won't find any in the real world as it only exists in this kind of realm. At least, that's what I know based on this kingdom and its surroundings."
Lin Xiao's eyes narrowed. Does it mean there was chance that they might be exist in other kingdom?
"Anyway, what are you searching for? I'm finding some good metals here." Hu Fei's attention naturally drew to the stack of metals as his eyes shone. Even without touching them, he could guess that they were all very valuable and could not be found in the real world easily.
"Find one for me."
"…Do you think I'm your servant?"
"I don't know how to know whether one had the same element as me or not," Lin Xiao added shamelessly.
Hu Fei nearly cursed but then he realized that Lin Xiao was saying the truth. Lin Xiao was not one who usually interacted with metals like him, so if Lin Xiao wanted to select the metal, he would need help.
He can't even touch to test them, so how could he know what their element was?
"In that case… I'll start searching." Hu Fei moved his hands for a moment and closed his eyes. In the next moment, his eyes opened once more but there was faint blue hue light inside.
Lin Xiao was startled.
A skill that was specialized to detect metals or something like that?
The activation method looked fairly simple and it seemed that Hu Fei would be able to pick treasure with ease. He glanced around the treasure room before his eyes shone. He pointed to a lump of metal.
"That one, that's Lake Gla.s.s Metal. I have only seen it once in my teacher's storage room and I didn't expect to be able to see one here."
Lin Xiao didn't hesitate and stepped forward. By the time he stood near the lump of metal, he felt some kind of pull from within his body. It was then he realized that the metal was really resonating with the element inside his body.
This made him excited.
He bent down and picked the metal. The surface was cold and the lump of metal was quite big. It should be more than enough to build a sword for him and probably with some leftovers left.
"You trust me that much?" Hu Fei was stunned.
"You're the one who will make the weapon for me, right?" Lin Xiao was amused.
"Right…" Looking at the metal in Lin Xiao's hand, Hu Fei sighed and shook his head lightly.
