Eve pursed her lips. The burly man placed the bowl down and wrapped his arms around Eve's small body. "If you want to escape you need your strength... I will help you. This is not what I signed up for." The burly man whispered into Eve's ear. Eve flinched she didn't believe the burly man. He had threatened Emmeline with the gun.
The burly man started to tremble as he embraced Eve. "I needed money... My, my sister pa.s.sed away and I they are all I have left. If I can't get money.... the... Monty promised me the money if I helped him but... but your dad got in touch with me. He said save B*tgirl and S*pergirl, if I help he will help my family and I will not go to jail for what I did. They have no one else so I have to make the right choice." The burly man continued to whisper. Tears started to spill from Eve's eyes.
Her father hadn't given up hope. "Drink now." The burly man said as he picked up the bowl again. Eve greedily drank. "Slow, slow down. There that's good to start." The burly man said gently as he took the bowl away. He then grabbed the dinner roll and soaked it into the broth. He then brought it to Eve's mouth and she ate. Her tears made the food more salty but her stomach rejoiced for the sustenance.
"Good girl." The burly man sighed then placed Eve back on to the floor. He slowly started to get up and picked up the gun as he moved. He made sure the safety was on before tucking the gun into his pants. He pulled up his black shirt and hid th gun. "Wait." The burly man said as he looked at Eve pitifully.
The man then bent down to pick up the metal tray but he stayed down and looked Eve in the eyes. "The door will be unlocked. Grab your sister and make a run for it when you hear the second gun shot." The man insructed in a soft whisper before he straighted up. Eve nodded her head. The burly man's dark amber eyes flashed with relief. He turned and left the room. Eve crawled over to Emmeline and quietly watched over her.
Hoping that she would be awake by the time they had to make there escape. Suddenly a dark thought crept into her heart. Eve stared at Emmeline, her face became distorted as her aquamarine eyes stared to glow a menicing colour. Eve' smile turned crooked as it became wider then she shook her head. The evil that crept into her heart vanished.
It was strange it was like a small voice started to whisper into her heart telling her to save herself but Eve could never do that to her sister. Emmeline was suffering because of her big mouth. If she was going to think of someone dying, it would be that bad man Monty and no one else. Eve brought her little hands together and started to pray. "Emmy, wake up soon." She whispered into her clasped hands and stayed like that until late into the night, never noticing that dinner never came.
As if Eve's continuous prays helped, Emmeline's eyes fluttered open. "Emmy." Eve sighed as she looked at her sister with emense relief. "E-e-v-e-e?" Emmeline called out with a strained voice. Eve's eyes started to water. Eve gave Emmeline a bright smile and just as she opened her mouth to say something she heard it. They both did. Late into the night two gun shots echoed out into the dead air.
Eve paled. she quickly stood up but fell back down. She didn't realize she had been kneeling beside's Emmeline's body for so long that her legs had gone numb. "Emmy! We need to go." Eve said firmly as she looked down at her own legs. "Eevee?" Emmeline asked but Eve started to hit her legs with her small fist as if trying to wake up her legs. "No time Emmy. If we want to lib we need to go." Eve said as she felt the tingling sensation leave her legs.
Emmeline sensed the urgency in Eve's voice and tried her best to stand but she was so drained. Eve got up and then held her hand out. "Todether." Eve said as her eyes reflected her courage. Emmeline grabbed her hands and a weird glint flashed across her eyes. Eve didn't pay too much attention, they needed to leave. So Eve helped her sister up and then turned to look at the door. Two more shots were heard.
"Weddy." Eve said as she took her first step. Adrenline was now coursing through her veins, replacing her blood with pure energy. She took another step and felt her heart crash against her chest. Emmeline was able to walk, so running was no impossible. "Now, won!" Eve shouted as she ran with all the energy she hand, dragging Emmeline behind her as they both raced to the door.
The distance wasn't far but each step felt like it was taking too long to reach the ground. The world had turned into slow motion and no matter how much Eve willed her body to run, they weren't approaching the door soon enough. Eve could feel sweat running down her face, She stuck her tongue out and licked her lips. It was salty but it was enough to let Eve know that they were so close, they were alive and hope was just up ahead. Three more shots were heard but Eve pushed herself.
Eve 's hand stretched out and she caught the door handle. She felt the cold steel against her bony fingers. She pulled the door and saw that the burly man wasn't lying. He left it unlocked. Joy swept through Eve's body. They just needed to leave the room and make their way to freedom but it was short lived. The moment Eve placed a foot outside of the room Emmeline pulled her hand away and stood perfectly still.
