Chapter 60 - Clubs

Crack!” The gla.s.s goblet in Yu Tang’s hand immediately shattered.

“Ah!” A blonde girl sitting not far away cried out in alarm, and the room instantly fell silent.

That white boy was also startled. Realizing that he had said something he shouldn’t, he smiled wryly. “Ai, you’re so stingy. If you don’t want to introduce him, then forget it.”

This person was a playboy called Blair, and he came from a military and political family. This family had a president, two Defense Ministers, and countless members of Parliament. Blair did both men and women and was extremely capricious, but he wasn’t a playboy in the ordinary sense.

He had entered Halun University not to obtain a graduation certificate, but mainly to obtain connections in school, not just for his family, but also to lay the foundation for his future path in politics. As the di son of the Yu family, Yu Tang was naturally one of the targets Blair wanted to rope in.

Yu Tang loosened his grip, and the gla.s.s fragments in his hand fell to the floor. Taking the towel from the secret guard behind him, he wiped his hand clean of the red wine. “There’s an ancient saying in China: never covet a friend’s wife.”

This sentence sounded awkward in English, but Blair could distinctly hear the word “wife”, and his eyes immediately widened. “That’s your fiance? My G.o.d, that’s a man! Tang, are you serious?”

“Of course. He’s my wife, not a plaything.” Yu Tang looked coldly at the playboy opposite him. “If you dare have designs on him…”

The secret guard had bent over to clean up the gla.s.s, and when he heard his master’s words, a large piece of gla.s.s instantly flew out from his fingers and sunk into the sofa under Blair’s b.u.t.t in a flash of cold light.

“Oh oh!” Blair leapt up in fright. “Tang, you’re too fierce!”

Previously, he had always thought that Chinese people were delicate and good-tempered, but ever since meeting Yu Tang, his three views had begun to be overturned. This person was temperamental, his methods were ruthless, and he had mysterious martial skills that couldn’t be beaten. What was even more excessive was that he actually had a killer by his side! He really was too frightening.

This sort of person could only be a friend, and definitely shouldn’t be made an enemy of. This was the tacit understanding which everyone in the Sunspot Club shared.

China’s culture was ancient and mysterious, and Americans couldn’t understand it at all. When Yu Tang had said that he and Song Xiao were long engaged, the members in the Sunspot Club did in fact believe it. They had even enthusiastically suggested holding a welcome party for Tang’s wife.

There were very few members in the Sunspot Club. Besides members of military and political families or tyc.o.o.n families, there were even princes from other countries, such as Danto, who was dressed in a white gown.

“Tang, since your wife is in America, what gift should I give him?” Danto walked out with Yu Tang as they left the auditorium. He had always felt that Yu Tang seemed more like royalty than he himself, and he was the easiest to converse with.

“Don’t give him anything. My wife can only accept gifts from me,” Yu Tang said with a lowered gaze.

Danto was stunned for a moment, then nodded in understanding. “That’s very true; wives should be controlled strictly. It’s the same in my culture.”

Yu Tang nodded, pleased, then patted Danto’s shoulder as they started to discuss a tactic for seizing the throne.

The beginning of a new semester was always chaotic. Halun’s program was very tight, and Song Xiao had to go to cla.s.s on the second day. He had selected his course himself. Song Xiao’s main major was business administration, and he had also chosen a minor in film arts. In the end, he still couldn’t abandon his family’s business. Since his father didn’t know how to run a business, he would have to step up to the plate.

In the first cla.s.s, the professor covered over forty pages of a book, and even a.s.signed thirty books for them to look up as homework. The entire cla.s.s was filled with anguished wails.

“Hey, you Chinese?” An American young woman sitting next to Song Xiao tilted her head and looked at him curiously.

Song Xiao turned his head and saw a foreign girl’s face. Because he had rarely seen Caucasians, he was face-blind for a time at suddenly seeing so many at once. He could only distinguish them by the color of their skin, and couldn’t differentiate their appearances. In his opinion, all Caucasians looked the same, with deep-set eyes and high noses.

The woman saw Song Xiao’s face and exclaimed in real surprise, “Oh, you’re really handsome.”

There were all kinds of races in America, so they could discern the appearances of Asian people. Song Xiao’s face had already matured, and had begun to break away from the childish look of a youngster as he developed into a handsome young man. His facial features were very refined, and thanks to the various delicious supplements Yu Tang had given him in the past two years, his skin was healthy and fair, and his clear eyes glittered. Coupled with his n.o.ble temperament from the Great Yu Dynasty, he looked like a mysterious yet enchanting person.

Song Xiao was startled, and inwardly lamented that American women really were bold and unrestrained. He then said with a smile, “Thank you. You’re also very beautiful.”

“You’re from Imperial University, right? I’ve never seen you before. My name’s Emily.” The enthusiastic girl walked out of the cla.s.sroom with Song Xiao. “There’s a welcome party tonight, are you going?”

“Mn.” Song Xiao stared fixedly ahead of him as he walked, and he hummed when he heard this.

“That’s great,” Emily said, delighted. “Our president will definitely do his best to pull you into the club when he sees you.”

Before Song Xiao could ask which club, he almost fell as he was suddenly pulled backwards to immediately fall into a certain strong and warm embrace.

“Your Majesty?” Recognizing the guy who had randomly appeared, Song Xiao raised his head and touched his nose, which stung from the impact.

Yu Tang’s face was cold as he looked at Emily, who was standing on the side.

“Wow.” Seeing Yu Tang’s appearance, Emily couldn’t help exclaiming softly. Why were the Chinese students this round all so attractive? She wanted to greet him, but was intimidated by that icy aura. She was startled and didn’t dare speak. She could only quickly write down her number on a sticky memo and slap it on Song Xiao’s arm before she ran off cheerfully.

Confused, Song Xiao took a look at his arm, but the memo was s.n.a.t.c.hed away by Yu Tang, who crumpled it into a ball.

“What was that?” Song Xiao had never gotten a number from a woman, so he couldn’t understand what ceremony this was.

“Marketing thing.” Yu Tang bulls.h.i.tted, and threw the memo into a trash can.

Song Xiao nodded in understanding, then spoke about how enthusiastic that girl was, probably because she wanted to pull him into that unnamed club.

Yu Tang’s course was more or less the same as Song Xiao’s, and the two of them went to the library. Completely unlike his lackadaisical att.i.tude in high school, Yu Tang very seriously looked for the books he had to read. He sat next to Song Xiao to read them, and even wrote some detailed notes in his notebook from time to time.

Song Xiao looked at the serious Yu Tang, and it was as if he was seeing that always diligent emperor from back then.

The imperial environment was dangerous: If they weren’t hardworking, they would be eliminated, and if they didn’t fight, they wouldn’t be able to live. Yu Tang had to work harder than anyone else to be able to seize the throne of the emperor.

“Things not looking good in the Yu family headquarters?” Song Xiao quietly asked.

As expected of his family’s empress, he was very astute in his observations. Yu Tang turned and rubbed his head against Song Xiao’s. “Don’t worry, it’s much easier than fighting for the throne.”

The situation in the Yu headquarters here was truly much more complicated than in China. To use the past imperial household as a metaphor, China was like a feudal land split between two va.s.sal princes, and their family only needed to live harmoniously with their seventh uncle. The US was like the capital. The children of the Yu family were numerous, and the power struggles were incredibly intense. To live well, they couldn’t just preserve their own hide – they had to fight and contend with each other.

That night’s welcome party was just a small-scale gathering, mainly to welcome these Chinese students who had come from far away. The organizers were senior schoolmates from Imperial University who had arrived last year.

“We’ll be a family in the future. If you have any difficulties, don’t be afraid to come find this senior sister.” The students from Imperial University had formed a small organization that didn’t have any official t.i.tle and which was similar to an a.s.sociation for fellow townsmen. This senior who was speaking was the president of this townsmen a.s.sociation.

Gao Ao was still silently hiding in a corner, and was dragged out by a few seniors.

“I heard that you’re the champion of the International Mathematical Olympiad na; we also have a former International Mathematical Olympiad champion,” said the senior with thick gla.s.ses who was pulling on Gao Ao.

“Really? I’m currently researching a question, but I can’t solve it…” Gao Ao finally became interested, and began to pa.s.sionately discuss mathematical questions with the seniors.

“h.e.l.lo, do you mind if we join in?” A few fashionably dressed American women walked over and spoke up, following which a few people holding signs promoting their clubs came in.

There were too many clubs in Halun University, and everyone was cross-eyed with bewilderment. So far, they hadn’t determined where to go; besides the “Sunspot Elite,” where membership was by invitation, all the societies were throwing themselves at the new students to rope them in.

“Jerry, look, that’s him.” Emily dragged a robust man along with her and cheerfully headed towards Song Xiao.

“Wow! Too perfect!” The large man, Jerry, circled Song Xiao and flashed his strong muscles at him. “h.e.l.lo, young man, are you interested in joining our a.s.sociation?”

Song Xiao blinked. “Azure Dragon Club?”

“How could that be?” Jerry widened his eyes dramatically as he pointed at two muscular men with colorful tattoos all over their bodies who were energetically advertising their club to a boy; they clearly didn’t look like good people. “That’s the Azure Dragon Club.”

Song Xiao’s lips quirked. “Then you are…”

“We’re — the Angels Club!” Jerry said the first word, and a group of people quickly gathered and loudly yelled “The Angels Club” together.

“Oh, dear Eastern boy, you really are a perfect match for our society’s name. As president, let me extend an invitation: Join the Angels Club and become our club’s amba.s.sador!” Jerry’s tone was especially like that of an insurance salesman.

The Angels Club’s previous amba.s.sador had graduated, and they had searched for a long time, but couldn’t find any suitable replacement. That was because they wanted to find someone with clean, fairy-like beauty, who at the same time was calm and warm-hearted like a deity.

When the party was over, Song Xiao looked at the angel wings brooch pinned to his shirt and curled his lip. He hadn’t even said anything, yet these guys directly pulled him in. Was this just like what the emperor had said, a marketing pin?

“Song Xiao, which society are you joining?” Yin Yuanyuan walked over and asked with a smile.

Yin Yuanyuan was here to study literature and creative writing, so she joined a literature society. Every week, they would produce poems, and even rehea.r.s.e stage plays.

“Angels Club, but I don’t even know what it is.” Song Xiao showed her the small metal wings.

“The Angels Club isn’t really anything great. Do you have any interest in joining us?” A rather coquettish voice floated over from in front of them. Song Xiao raised his head and saw a white student in a red, long-sleeved shirt, who smiled as he pa.s.sed him an invitation card with the shocking words “Sunspot Elite” written on it.

After the student pa.s.sed it to him, he turned and left.

Yin Yuanyuan was stunned for a long time, before she pulled Song Xiao under a street lamp. “Hurry up and read the invitation! The guide senior sister said that if there’s a black skull on the letter, it means that they really do want to invite you. If it’s a sun, that means that they like your face and want you to become a lover!”

As a veteran pure love enthusiast, Yin Yuanyuan had long investigated the matter of Sunspot Club inviting lovers, and had always been excited over the fact that handsome youths were invited. But when this happened to her cla.s.smate, she wasn’t the slightest bit excited, and was just worried.

Song Xiao opened the invitation. There really was a dazzling little sun in it. He sneered and threw it in the trash.

Blair whistled as he walked off campus. As a third-year, he had been living off campus for a long time. Yu Tang said not to have any ideas about his wife, but people were just like this: The more they weren’t allowed to do something, the more they wanted to. He was just curious, and wanted to take a good look at Song Xiao’s appearance.

“Blair.” Just as he reached the campus entrance, a cold voice rang out from the shadows.

Blair turned around and was met with Yu Tang’s smile that wasn’t a smile.

“Oh, Tang, why are you here… Hey hey… Let’s talk it out properly…”

The Author has something to say

Little Theater

‘President’s Secret’

After a certain number of years, Blair, who had become the president:

Reporter A: There’s a rumor that there’s a secret story from his uni days

Opposition: That’s right, he was castrated when he was in uni

Reporter A: ( ⊙ o ⊙ ) So is he still a man now?

Opposition: (Shrug) Perhaps we can commend him for being is the first female president in American history

Blair: (╰_╯)#

Wtf, some people actually think it’s going to be abusive? Where do y’all see that it’s going to become abusive? The plot’s just a little more tense, but it’s still very sweet PDA _(:з」∠)_ If there’s any abuse, then probably, it’s… dog abuseba.
