Starlight Has No Past
Chapter 25 Part 2
In the scene Ye Qiao was filming today, her character, Lu Zhiyao, had been tracked down
by the police but had managed to get away. She would then use a fake ident.i.ty to avoid
being detected by the authorities. For the police chase, she had to run across half a field
and into the arms of Lu Qing right at the moment she had just shaken off the police. The
chase took a lot of physical strength and at the same time she had to show wide range of
emotions, as she escaped in a panic. Ye Qiao had no problem performing to the fullest for
the chase scene. But when it was the time to hold onto Lu Qing after she had avoided the
police, Ye Qiao was asked to do retakes over and over again.
Gu Jin said there was only fear in her eyes, not a bit of adoration. Lu Qing's character was
greatly admired by Lu Zhiyao. Running into him at such an urgent moment, Gu Jin expected
Lu Zhiyao to show more fiery reactions. Ye Qiao, on the contrary, was acting like a cold
blooded animal, without any desire in her eyes when encountering the one she loved.
Lu Qing, the male idol of the country, joked as if he was deeply hurt: “Didn't you say a couple
days ago that you're my fan? Are you kidding me?”
Ye Qiao didn't know how to explain herself: “Not at all…...I'm just not good at doing love
scenes.” After breaking up with Gu Jin, she seemed to have forgotten how to portray the
feelings of an ordinary girl in love.
Lu Qing was a kind person and patiently tried to give her guidance: “Have you ever
experienced a moment when your life was hanging in the balance?” He focused on her
eyes and noticed that there was a positive reaction in her eyes. He continued: “You can
connect your personal experience with acting. Here, it would be the same kind of feeling
like when you saw the person you cared the most right after you had gone through a
crucial moment of life and death. Try to recall the feeling from that time.”
“A crucial moment of life and death” was a phrase she was rather familiar with. There
was a period of time, about half a year, in her life that every night before she went to bed
that she had that feeling, worrying that she would never wake up again the next morning.
However, when she finally learned who the person was that donated the heart to her, she
suddenly wanted to give up on living and end her own life.
Even to this day, she would occasionally regret not making that decision at the time.
But, it was only on occasion.
Ye Qiao s.p.a.ced out for a long time, then sorrifully shook her head towards Lu Qing.
Lu Qing gently suggested another approach: “Or do you want to try to look at my face
and pretend it's someone else's?”
Ye Qiao thought it was worth trying with this method. When the camera started rolling again,
the moment Ye Qiao looked up at the lens, many faces flashed through her brain. Every one
of them was quite blurry. There didn't seem to be anyone she could rely on in her world. In
the end, one face caught her off guard. It happened only in seconds, but she successfully
perform the scene without knowing how she did it herself.
When the director declared the scene was good, Lu Qing breathed a sigh of relief and
complimented her: “It was good just like that.”
Ye Qiao did something she rarely did; she walked over next to Gu Jin to view the take she
just did in the monitor.
In the monitor, Lu Zhiyao had a muddy face but her eyes were clear, tears welling up, full
of adoration and chagrin from the bottom of her heart. Even through the screen, one could
sense the total trust she had for the man in front of her, as if just by the love she had for
him was enough to gain salvation from her unforgivable sin.
Ye Qiao felt the person in the scene was somewhat strange to her.
Gu Jin calmly commented: “The feeling here is to the fullest. It seems a bit too much
though, maybe it could be taken back a little.”
Ye Qiao shook her head: “You don't understand Lu Zhiyao.”
Gu Jin, taken aback, turned to look at her. Ye Qiao didn't take her eyes off the screen.
She continued with an aloof tone: “She's only a teenager, no matter how smart or sly she is.”
Gu Jin was silent. When he opened his mouth to say something, Ye Qiao had already
gotten up and left, leaving him with just a view of her back.
