Love is scary. Dangerous. Untouchable.
Why does my heart flutter when I'm around Zayn and Week? It's only the two of them. None of the other guys even get close to me that way.
Then I remember Miguel. He was sent home yesterday because I showed no interest in being around him anymore and because he gave me away to Zayn.
I turned in my bed and faced the window. The night sky was grey like always, and yet I hadn't slept any in the past few days. Angel and I were told to stay away from the boys for the first few days, and today was the first day we would see who remained.
"Young miss," I heard and turned towards the door. My nurse maid stood there and I looked back out. Time had past with me alone in my thoughts and the white of the sky had started to glow and push away the grey. "You're up, that's good. Today is the day of the regular challenges, my dear." With her words, she walked out of the closet with a gorgeous red dress. The sleeves were lace and it was a short dress. Once we slipped it on, I noticed it only went to my mid thigh. It had a little puff out yet not much at all.
"This dress is beautiful, I've never seen it before," I said, staring in awe at my reflection.
"Your father only has dresses that seem to make you and Angel one person they're so similar. Mabel and I decided to make you both dresses that would only suit you," she replied and I turned and pulled her into an embrace, to which she returned gratefully. She pulled away and shooed me into the vanity chair to finish my look. She braided my hair into a crown around my head with half of my hair left down and with waves down my back.
I smiled at myself in the mirror. For once I didn't feel like a doll, I felt like me. I looked like me. As my nurse maid turned away, I noticed my eyes flash a silver color but this time I didn't let it scare me. Looking at it now, it felt natural, yet I didn't know why.
I walked out to the balcony that oversaw the training grounds that each compet.i.tor was required to go to. I saw two silhouettes down on the field and watched them as they sparred. It took me a little bit, but I finally recognized Kai and Week. The two boys were both just in shorts and tennis shoes. They both had tape on their fists and I could see cuts and bruises forming from here.
I felt my face begin to warm as I looked Week up and down. He wasn't one of those boys who didn't care about his appearance, and I could tell. The only word I could think of to describe him in this moment was gorgeous. He definitely had muscle, no doubt about that, yet you couldn't tell when he wore the clothes he tended to choose.
He looked up at me as if sending my presence and I felt as if I was just caught doing something I shouldn't have and I felt my face get warmer. He smirked up at me and then continued his sparring match, but seemed to be showing off a little more than he had before. Kai seemed to notice the change in him and went a little harder. Angel soon walked out and sat on a bench, watching them just as I had been doing. Her dress was violet and long. It fit her form well and fell softly down her body and stopped just at her ankles. She had a slit up the side that started at her mid thigh. She smiled at the boys as they continued their match.
They both pulled back to catch their breaths and Kai then noticed Angel there and smirked just as Week had when he noticed me here watching them. The two boys went back at it and were definitely both showing off for the two of us present.
They both fell to the ground after what felt like hours of watching them. They stood back up after catching their breaths and shook hands, both agreeing to a truce. Kai then walked over to Angel and kissed her forehead and gained a bright smile from her. Week grabbed a towel and started to wipe the sweat and dirt from his skin. He looked up at me and his red eyes seemed so much brighter seeing me.
"Like what you see, little princess?" I heard in my mind which made me jump and look back down at him. He started laughing and his smile took my breath away. My heart seemed to skip a beat as I watched him. He looked back up at me and his eyes were a sapphire blue that matched mine. It made me jump a little in surprise and I turned to go back into my room. "Awwwww, leaving so soon, little princess?"
The voice echoed in my mind and caused me to turn, only to see the group I had found in my garden a while ago was all together. They all seemed to be locked in serious conversation, even Angel held a tight face. Week had a serious face on and it only made me want to walk down and smooth his features, but I used away the thought.
'What the h.e.l.l is wrong with me?'
I turned in my heel then and started my trek to my garden. All the boys lined the halls and bowed in respect of me as I pa.s.sed. Zayn was the only one bold enough to fall into step beside me as I was laced into my thoughts.
"Penny for your thoughts, Princess?" I heard him say and I ignored his voice and let my mind wander back to the voice I had heard in my head not too long ago. "Ignoring me, Princess?"
I finally turned to him and let the words flow as if I truly knew what we spoke about. My thoughts kept moving back to Week and the voice I had heard.
"May you give me the honor of being the first compet.i.tor to take you on a date, Princess?" I heard Zayn say. I automatically answered with a yes, just like the perfect princess I was trying to force myself to be. I finally got away from him and made my way to my garden and walked to the center portal. I stared into it and yet couldn't focus myself enough to look at the people.
I turned at the sound of footsteps and looked at at a boy who had just come into the garden with me. I didn't recognize him as one of the boys who was in the contest, yet he seemed relieved to see me. I strained my mind to find him as he took me into a hug. He held me lightly and I felt tears. .h.i.tting my shoulder.
"I thought... oh my G.o.d, I thought you were dead, Rose," I heard him say, and his voice knocked something loose in me and visions came slamming into me and in ever single one only one name stood out and this time when I went to grasp them, they didn't disappear from me, they stayed with me.
"Levi?"
