Chapter 1379: Princess of the 1378 Kingdom
Tan Rou spoke, and all the while, Ajila kept his head down. It was only when she asked if he understood that he nodded slightly, as if he hadn’t really taken in what Tan Rou had said.
Tan Rou didn’t mind, she wasn’t Ajila’s parent, and she thought it best to leave the matter of educating children to their parents. Her responsibility was merely to escort the child.
However, before she escorted the child, Tan Rou also quietly inquired about some matters concerning Ajila’s mother. What she learned was that there indeed was a princess named Samiyi in Country J, but she wasn’t the King’s daughter; she was his sister, and his only sister at that.
Furthermore, according to the information Lin Yu had shared with her, the thirty-two-year-old Princess Samiyi was neither married nor had any children.
If Samiyi had no children, then who was Ajila? Was he lying to her?
Initially, Tan Rou had thought of informing Lin Yu about Ajila’s situation and asking for his a.s.sistance in returning the boy to his mother, but now that she knew Princess Samiyi was unmarried and childless, Tan Rou suddenly didn’t feel like discussing Ajila anymore.
Moreover, there was another strange point: Lin Yu was unaware of Ajila’s existence, yet Ajila knew Lin Yu and even called him Mr. Lin.
Thinking for a moment and failing to come up with an answer, Tan Rou decided to stop agonizing over it. They would be arriving in Country J soon enough, and the truth would reveal itself then.
She got some sleep, and by the time she woke up, the plane was nearly at the airport in Country J. She yawned, preparing to disembark.
ReadNovelFull.comAjila sitting beside her seemed somewhat nervous. His eyes were fixed on the seat in front of him and his legs were trembling, as if he feared something.
Tan Rou thought he feared being caught in his lies, so she said, “The plane will be landing at the airport soon, so if there’s anything you want to tell me, you’d better do it now. If I find out after landing that everything you’ve told me is a lie, I will hand you over to the police.”
“No!” Ajila shook his head vigorously, “I haven’t told a single lie, you will understand when you see my mom; my mother really is a princess. It’s just…” He trailed off, unwilling to say more.
Tan Rou pressed, “It’s just what?”
Ajila bit his lip and said softly, “I’ve made my mother angry, and I’ve been away for so long. She will be very sad when I return. I don’t want to see my mother cry.”
Tan Rou scoffed coldly, “If you don’t want to see your mother cry, then you shouldn’t have run off. How could she not worry about you after you’ve been gone for so long?”
Somewhere in her words, Tan Rou struck a chord, and Ajila suddenly began to cry. His crying woke up the other pa.s.sengers who were trying to rest, causing some of them to become irritated.
Tan Rou could only try to comfort Ajila, “Alright, stop crying. You’ll be able to get off the plane and see your mother soon. If you keep making noise, I won’t take you to see your mother.”
Her words were effective; Ajila stopped crying.
After the plane arrived at the airport, Tan Rou and her companions took Ajila to look for the welcoming party, which included the officials she was supposed to collaborate with. Glancing through the crowd, Tan Rou didn’t see Laka or Lin Yu and guessed they must be busy with other matters.
Since they had arrived late, the gates to the Royal Palace were already shut, so they were temporarily arranged to stay at a hotel nearby.
Having slept for a few hours on the plane, Tan Rou wasn’t tired, so after taking a shower, she went for a stroll in the hotel lobby. She had noticed that the lobby was crowded, making it an ideal spot for gathering information.
Luckily, the people in the lobby were all from Country J, with several who had been working in the Royal Palace but missed the closing time and thus had to stay outside.
Tan Rou listened for a while and then naturally joined the conversation.
“I heard you discussing a lot about the Royal Family of Country J, but why didn’t I hear you mention Princess Samiyi?” Tan Rou asked curiously, “I heard she’s the King’s youngest sister, 32 and not married. Is that true?” However, her question seemed to chill the atmosphere of the discussion. As soon as they heard someone asking about Princess Samiyi, they immediately fell silent.
