Chapter 700: [700] Kizmal(12).
Despite all of Kazikato's attempts at trying to dissuade the rest from challenging the trials, it was all for naught. They were determined to challenge it, especially Alexander and Olivia.
Sabrina was simply here for the knowledge about the array, but it wouldn't hurt her to try her techniques against an actual opponent.
"... Guys, Please, this is a mountainous giant we are talking about..."
Kazikato's murmurs could be heard very well inside the narrow tunnel, words that no one would heed right now, everyone had the goal of clearing the trial in their mind, or trying their best to do it.
They finally reached the end, and stepped into the challenge area, taking it all in with amused and expectant expressions. The area of the trial was very pleasing to them, all of them besides Kazikato who had immediately transformed into a dragon.
Soon enough, the fragment of Kizmal appeared with a thunderous roar, emerging from the shallow water at unfathomable size, Alexander, Olivia, Edward, and Sabrina's eyes widened.
"... d.a.m.n, that is a big giant."
"Stop admiring it and block your ears with all the mana you can!"
Kazikato's yell broke them out of their reverie, as they did exactly as told, just before a tide of shadows swallowed them up and placed them on top of Kazikato's back.
The shadows const.i.tuting his outer body changed, providing everyone a suitable foothold, Kazikato had no knowledge of saddles and was not experienced in making one, so he simply made a small platform for them.
The clap resounded, making ripples in the air, and on his body as well as the blinding light consumed everything, Kazikato barely managed to escape it.
Olivia summoned her spirits, the hawk, the snake, and the knight, who obviously felt the need to make a remark, one that only he considered funny.
"Why isn't that an odd shaped big tuna!"
The group should be glad they couldn't hear him, the same could not be said for Olivia, however, who had to deal with his jokes, even in this situation.
Kazikato focused his attention on dodging all the raging beams of eviscerating light, and while he was doing it, he heard a voice ring in his head.
[Kazikato, it can fire only seven of those, right?]
It was Sabrina, before he could question how she was in his mind, she warned him.
[Don't try to resist, it only makes complications for me, just say whatever you want to in your mind and picture yourself talking to me.]
Albeit confused, he quickly understood and responded to her, this type of thing was not entirely new to him, it just came from a person he didn't expect.
Ariel usually talked to him this way, her voice would resound in his mind akin to Sabrina's, although hers had more... presence.
[Yeah, only seven, and I'm busy dodging those!]
[Alright, drop me off at the topmost drum, I'll handle it from there.]
[Are you crazy? The lightning will roast you alive!]
[Trust me, please.]
Reluctant, he began to make his way towards the back of the fragment of Kizmal, if he even could. The closer he got, the closer the beams were, and even if there were only two more left. Though there was no difference if he was close or not because of the sheer speed possessed by the beams, it did do something to his mind. Just knowing he was flying closer to something that could kill him in a blink was torturous.
Nonetheless, he steadily made his way, and as he did so, he noticed Alexander jump off, a haze of gray energy covering his body as wind encased his two swords. Abalak followed him, riding on his glorious steed,
'... Crazy, all of you are crazy.'
They didn't even have a regeneration factor like Alan, and yet still charged at the monstrous giant. He could understand Abalak, since he was a spirit, he could regenerate as long as his spiritmancer had mana, but the rest were simply crazy...
Worst of all, he was helping them, too!
'Boss is going to kill me...'
He really needed Azmakul to deal with Alan now, if he came back and learned of this he imagined he would be pretty p.i.s.sed. It wouldn't be easy to calm his anger.
Sabrina jumped off as well, landing with grace on the topmost drum as Kizmal was finished with his eviscerating beams, they had some time before he could do it again.
It was a short moment, but in this situation it would feel like an eternity, and that was perhaps a good thing, however, just because Kizmal could not use those eviscerating beams for a while, did not mean he was helpless.
In fact, he was the same as ever, terrifying and powerful, the serene sky of this realm was obscured by dark, raging clouds that rained down lighting on all of them, Alexander was safe, he swiftly moved around the giant's body, making his way towards the fragments face, his shield of [Null] attribute mana was helping him ward off the lightning on the body of the giant.
Abalak, meanwhile, was raining small but significant attacks at the eyes, using wind and his lance. He could not get too close, but he was successful in obstructing the giant's vision, for short moments.
Alexander was not just moving upwards as well, he was dealing small wounds to the giant as well, a continuous cut along its skin, he was fast enough to dodge the scalding hot blood.
While the cut was insignificant, it was still damage. Alexander was trying to target the tendons and important muscles, but due to the sheer size of the giant, it would take some time.
Meanwhile, Sabrina was still on the topmost drum, darkness had coalesced into something solid around her legs, making her stable at this height, it was unknown what she was doing, but she was reciting something, using one hand to point her staff at the head of Kizmal, and the other to deflect the lightning strikes coming at her.
It didn't need much to deflect them, she just had to fire off a smaller bolt of lightning, in most cases, it would disperse the lightning strikes, if it wasn't special lightning, of course.
However, even with her affinity to electricity, she was struggling against the field of electricity around Kizmal's body, it was slowly affecting her, interfering with her incantation.
Kazikato, meanwhile, also attacked the face of the fragment, he was also aiming at the eyes, trying to ruin one once more with his breath of rot.
His breath, was now something else entirely, it did not possess a foul green, but a rather sinister, dark green hue, it was a mixture of the elements of death, darkness, shadows, and
frost.
It was cold, it was devastating, it was rotting, and it would spread fast, incredibly fast. The elements of death and darkness increased the damage, shadows increased the speed at which it would spread, and how well it would pierce, while frost was cold, but it was nothing to scoff
at.
Olivia and Edward were still on his back, Olivia was busy supporting Abalak, casting all sorts of buffs on her knight, and casting another type of spirit magic, one that would take time...
And Edward was hesitant, he had yet to move from his original position, and he was shaking... and if Kazikato was being honest, this was for the best.
Edward was the only one showing a normal reaction, he was the only one normal right now. It was insanity to charge at a thunder giant the size of mountains with no fear.
He was the one with no means of attack as well, he didn't have Alexander's [Null] attribute to block the lightning, he didn't have a spirit to ride on like Abalak, and he didn't have whatever Sabrina was doing as well.
He was shaking, and out of it, for a moment, his grip on his shields was failing, it was weak...
until.
[Edward, it's alright, try to see if you can absorb one of the lightning strikes and fire it back at the giant, aim at his thighs, please.]
Until Sabrina's voice rang in his mind, beads of sweat trickled down his face as he made an
abrupt turn.
"Huuu..."
He took a deep breath, wiped his brows and slapped himself.
"Yeah... Yeah, I can do that!"
Regaining his confidence and washing away his fear, he took one more deep breath before he
looked up above, his absorbing shield held high, and tight.
There was only one problem, Kazikato was busy dodging the lightning strikes, and simultaneously attacking the giant's face. He had to do something else.
And so, he did, as soon as he saw a strike of lightning form up in the skies, almost looking at him with murderous intent, he moved closer to it, as close as he could to Kazikato's body. And then, when it rained down, threatening to devour him, and as Kazikato was moving out of
the way.
He jumped.
