The glow in Derik's eyes had dimmed considerably and his body was covered in sweat and black blood which oozed out of his numerous injuries. At this point, even though he still possessed the high-speed healing ability, its effects were reduced greatly.
"Young master…" The shadow lurker muttered but stopped when Derik signaled it not to continue by raising a finger.
"Don't worry, I'll live… the death energy in the underworld is quite strong, I should be able to stabilize my realm within a few minutes here… an hour at most" Derik said nonchalantly while gazing into the dark sky of the underworld as if he was waiting for something or someone.
"You should have summoned me… I have become more powerful than your avatar… The young master wouldn't have endured this much suffering if it relied on my power " the shadow lurker hissed.
"You may have grown stronger within these five years, but you are yet to attain enough strength which will let you compete against a gold realm master," Derik said with a slight frown on his face
"Impossible, All the gold realm masters died alongside with my previous master… he sent them all to the underworld! How can there be new ones in such a short time?" The shadow lurker screeched in fear.
Apparently it though that a peak silver realm mage or warrior was responsible for Derik's injuries. It also despised the death avatar for not being able to protect Derik, calling it an incompetent being in its mind. Now the gold realm master issue has been brought up, the shadow lurker finally realized that Derik's death avatar is not to be blamed. Chances are even it may not be able to hold out for sixty seconds if put in a similar situation
"Yea… it was a gold realm master for sure… a guardian Knight capable of drawing strength from the sun!" Derik said with a bitter smile on his face.
Images of the battle still flashed in his head, making it hard for him to focus. He knew that he only survived this encounter because of Kaido's jovial att.i.tude! If the kid came at him with pure killing intentions from the very beginning, he probably would have died way faster than his death avatar.
"Aaaah! The young master crossed path with a gold realm expert in possession of the blessing of a cosmic spirit and still survived with a cultivation base of low grade of the silver realm… as expected… you will surely do great things!" The shadow lurkers blood-red eyes glowed even brighter as it flattered Derik.
"No… no… I would have been killed off at the very beginning if the death avatar didn't step in… You don't have to worry though, I didn't let the gold realm master leave without a few holes and bruises" Derik said with a warm smile.
"I see" The shadow lurker finally said after a minute of silent pondering. Its blood-red eyes suddenly lost its glow and it hid its face within its body, it seemed as if it was sleeping.
With than done, Derik's smile faded as he looked at the dark empty s.p.a.ce west of his current location and hissed.
"How long do you wish to remain there… show yourself!" Derik growled with an enraged expression on his face.
Within the darkness, a youth in a black mage robe appeared. His darkish purple fiery eyes burnt even brighter than that of Derik and his ma.s.sive pair of black wings stood gallantly on his back. The ma.s.sive death scythe which levitated closely behind him let out screeches and Cry's which could terrify any normal person but Derik was not moved by this.
"You still bare ill intentions for me and your trust towards our partnership is at stake here… I can see that… I will clear your doubts now by answering any question I am allowed to" Demos said with his usual warm smile on his face.
With that said Derik's anger subsided and his rigid face loosened a bit. The light in his fiery darkish purple eyes flickered as if he were considering his next words wisely before speaking
"Who are the three heroes of legend… What is all this farce about them saving mankind?" Derik decided to go with this first.
"The three heroes of fate are the chosen ones to save this planet from the calamity that will befall this planet soon…" Demos replied
"Wait… does that mean that they will surpa.s.s the creator and save everyone from the creator level threat approaching?" Derik was quite confused
"Not really… why would you even think of that?... This planet and the stars around it are referred to as cosmic spirits which even the creator cannot subdue easily… Should this calamity come, its only natural for the cosmic spirits to defend their territory and that's where the hosts of the cosmic spirits come in… The creator will surely handle the main threat but during that time, its hands will be tied making it unable to protect us from the smaller threats… that's where the guardian spirits, their hosts and the hosts of the cosmic spirit all come in" Demos explained
"The other hosts of the cosmic spirit started small, just like Kalos and Kuen… what makes these three so special that they get a grand entrance and a ridiculous cultivation base to start with?" Derik asked.
"Well, only the other hosts of the cosmic spirits, they are just creations of the creator who is lucky enough to have the powers of the cosmic spirit impacted in it… these people still bear the soul imprint of the creator, that's why they rarely get the attention of their cosmic spirits, they are expendable. But the three heroes of legend are quite different. There are created from scratch by the cosmic beings, with the unrestrained power and support of their creator, that's why they are stronger than everyone… their starting base is the low grade of the gold realm… These people will surely surpa.s.s we guardian spirits and when they enter the demiG.o.d realm, they will remain on this planet since the creator is unable to lay a finger on them!" Demos said
"I see… What you are trying to say here is I shouldn't kill them because they are relevant to our survival?" Derik spoke slowly this time.
Hearing this Demos only nodded in approval and walked past Derik. He placed his hand on the ma.s.sive body of the shadow lurker and a smile bloomed on his face.
"Given enough time, this beast will evolve and gain the power to rival gold realm experts." Demos said
"How much time?" Derik asked, a bit excited by this revelation.
"A decade at most!" Demos replied with a firm nod.
There was silence for a while after that making the thing feel awkward. Even the shadow lurker sensed this and quickly slithered away, leaving behind only Derik and Demos to deal with their issues.
"I know you placed so much trust in me after everyone betrayed you and during that period I have always made decisions which will ultimately benefit you in one way and increase your strength even further, I hope you stop doubting my loyalty" Demos said
"It's not that I doubt your loyalty, it is just that I wish you tell me more and stop leaving me in the dark" Derik replied
"It's not that j don't want to tell you things… it's just that I serve the creator and I dare not oppose him… for now, anything I refuse to say to you is because I have been instructed not to… the creator has given you gifts from the dungeon… things that can increase your strength, just use what you are given for now… We will definitely find a way to remove your soul imprint before you reach the demiG.o.d realm, that way, even the creator will not be able to touch you after you become a demiG.o.d!" Demos said
Hearing this, Derik nodded and quickly turned his attention to his storage ring. Apart from the death scythe, there are two other treasures that he has not touched up till now.
