Gu Jun reached further down until he believed he had arrived at the deepest part of the foot cavity. There was even more green liquid and it almost corroded the glove. In his mind, the babies cried harder and the panic within the cries a.s.saulted his every nerve.

"Ah!" Gu Jun shouted. A searing pain came from his arm and he almost dropped the scalpel. With determination, he held on. The fingers were in standard position. The thumb, middle, ring and pinkie held the hilt while the index finger guided the back of the scalpel. Among the chaos, he focused and activated the magic inside the scalpel. He brought up the image of the bright Carlot Academy, the clear fountain, the clean marble floor, the beautiful buildings… The G.o.ddess of Life was not the evil, disgusting ball of black flesh. The G.o.ddess of Life was light, the smiles of happy parents seeing their child for the first time and the cooing of the child being welcomed by their parents…

With a quick swipe of the scalpel, Gu Jun cut through all the tubes at the lowest part of the foot cavity. He could see them being severed, the green liquid flowing through the tubes squirting everywhere. 

The people around him though could see the threads that curled around Gu Jun's arm snapping at incredible speed. They wilted quickly. The flow of green liquid stopped. 

"This…" Uncle Dan looked here and there. There was something different about the goat's leg. w.a.n.g Ruoxiang's feeling was more acute. If it was a waterfall earlier, now it was like a pool of dead water. The liquifying area halted. The skins stopped sinking in. 

"Oh?" Wu Siyu studied the giant goat's leg. She could taste the difference. The meat would no longer produce worms but it would make a delicious pot of stew. But consuming it would still cause stomachache. "The goat's leg is now really dead," She said. 

Dead? Finally? The Zoogs looked on furtively. Does that mean they were no longer in danger?

Gu Jun gasped. He was covered in sweat as he slowly pulled his right arm out from the foot cavity, carrying with it green liquid and some shredded soft tissue. Everyone asked whether he was alright. He nodded his head. "I'm fine, the liquefaction stopped. The tube-like organs are the leg's regenerative organ as well as the umbilical cords that connect to the abnormal babies… I feel like we should call them Abnormal Cords." 

Wonderful! When they heard that new term, they confirmed that it was the right Gu Jun. Xiao Huiwen nodded, yes, this kind of strange naming feels appropriate… Wait, what am I saying?
