Chapter 19 Punishment In the Name of G.o.d

Following the description of the witness, the scene of the village comparable to purgatory under the night sky has become eerie . The breeze that carried the rustic smell of blood along with it had made the heart of the people trembled .

Qin Zhan eyed the corpses, deep in his own thought .

After that, a soldier came to report what he found in the cellars .

Following the opening of the door of few tens of cellars, cries could be heard and a few dozens of girls with tattered clothes were brought out of the cellar .

“Major . About fifty to sixty girls were found locked up . Bruises of different severity were found on their body and more than ten of them were found a few months pregnant . ”

The soldier had once again reported the number of victims and looked at the villagers with a grim expression .

Qin Zhan was also looking at the remaining pitiable weak population of the villagers . Even with their head lowered, the nervousness omitted was not able to escape from his eyes when the soldier reported the situation of the girls .

The cellars found had hidden girls that were abducted, and they were also tortured and s.e.xually a.s.saulted; it was basically impossible for the women in the village to say that they didn’t know anything about it .

When he thought up to that point, a cold light flashed through Qin Zhan’s eyes .

After listening the the report, he then exited the village .

The soldier earlier blanked out and asked soon after,

“In regards to the genocide that happened in this village… . ”

When he reached the entrance of the village, Qin Zhan stopped in his tracks .

“These villagers tried to rebel and were killed by the military amidst the chaos . ”

The soldier was shocked for a brief moment and soon lowered his head,

“Yes, sir . ”

Although Qin Zhan had arrived at Yun Cheng not long ago, he was able to capture the heart of the soldiers . He’s the type that means what he said and doesn’t like anyone that goes against his ideas . The decision that he had came up with today can be seen that he wanted to cover up the incident . No matter the reason, he can only choose to obey .

The cold, hard boots stepped onto the ground, making crunching sounds as it stepped onto the pebbles on the ground . Qin Zhan then took out a lighter from his pocket and lit a cigarette .

The smell of the tobacco had washed the rustic smell of blood away, his expression was hazy as he breathed out the smoke from his lungs .

The ident.i.ty of the killer was unknown, and their way of doing things were careful . The scene that had seem to be a ma.s.s murder that had been done deliberately had actually left no clues . It is best that they lay low in this situation where nothing much is known .

Not to mention, the killer had only taken the life of men in the village . The possibility of them taking revenge for the victimized girls and punishing them in the name of G.o.d was very high… .

“Punishment in the name of G.o.d… . ”

Slowly muttering these few words, Qin Zhan’s hazy eyes had a sudden brightness to them for a moment .

Amusing .

The incidents where the village had a history of more than a hundred years that was hidden deep in the mountain was wiped out in a single night and  the base of the human traffickers was found had caused a huge commotion in the Lan Prefecture . The press and media competed to cover the topic, and so, the headline for the whole week focused on the incidents .

As all of this was happening, as the person behind all of these incidents, Song Ye had brought Yun Hua back to Yun Cheng . After settling her down at Yu Fu Jewellery,  she then went back to the hotel and slept to her heart’s content since she had not slept for three days straight . She only woke up after hearing a knock at her door .

After opening her eyes and seeing the sky that had gone dark, she then ma.s.saged her throbbing temple and sore arms and went to open the door .

Zhao Zhen stood at the door impatiently and when he saw Song Ye that was still half-awake, he was not able to care about decency and directly went into her room and closed the door behind him, with an excited tone,

“Song Ye, I had extracted all the raw stones that you had given me two days ago . ”

Hearing that, Song Ye had already guessed what he was about to say soon after .

Just as she had expected, Zhao Zhen gripped his hands tightly with blood rushing to his face a moment after,

“The five raw stones all had green hues appearing . The type and quality is good, and so, the twenty thousand that you had used had a return of at least a hundred times!”

“Mmh . ”

Song Ye was drinking from the cup in her hand . Compared to Zhao Zhen who was talking excitedly, her reaction was so cold that one can feel their fingers going cold from it . In the end, she even asked back calmly,

“And so?”

Being stimulated by the coldness, Zhao Zhen’s hot-bloodiness cooled down slowly and he appeared to be unsettled .

“Song Ye, you know- that is, I’m not sure how you determine the raw stones, but I know that you have the talent and ability in this regard and I took some time to think about your suggestion . Rather than having Yu Fu Jewellery slowly regenerate under my hand, I might as well hand it over to you as you are able to let the business grow . ”

Song Ye placed the cup down and curled her lips, not showing any triumph or excitement as one had expected . She then extended her slender and fair hand .

“It is decided then . May we have a good time working together . ”

“Working… . together?”

Soon after he held onto her hand, he then blanked out and asked her curiously,

“I have already handed the shop over to you, but you won’t chase me out?”

Since the old times, the phrase ‘There can only be a King in a country” works no matter the situation . Zhao Zhen had thought that once Song Ye obtained Yu Fu Jewellery, she will for sure chase him out, but…

“Uncle Zhao had misunderstood . Me owning Yu Fu Jewellery and you being the manager does not conflict one another . I’m still too young and I have yet to finish my study; and in regards to the operation of the store, you know it better than I do .   We can cooperate and help the business grow together . How about it?”

How? Facing an invitation such as this, what else can he do? Zhao Zhen nodded his head excitedly,

“Okay, I will be your employee, so let’s grow the business of Yu Fu Jewellery . With your discerning eyes, we will for sure succeed . ”

He adored emeralds . The reason he had open up this business was just so that he could research about the emeralds . And now following Song Ye, if he was able to witness the rare emeralds appearing in the world, he of course, would be more than willing to do so .

Seeing how his blood was boiling like a young man, Song Ye then had a rare smile on her face,

“Right now, hasten the progress on the extracted emeralds and launch it into the market . We will first collect the capitals and increase the area and the reputation of the shop . If there are suitable raw stone resources, remember to inform me about it . And also, please do help me take care of Yun Jie . School semester is about to start, so I will come and visit her after some time . ”

“Okay, no problem . I will go and have it all done now . ”

Zhao Zhen remembered all of it and did all the work wholeheartedly .

But just before he left, he purposely left a mobile phone for Song Ye, saying that it would be inconvenient if there was no way to contact her at all .

One week after graduation trip, was the beginning of a new semester and as a third year junior high student that was about to face the entrance exam for high school, studying was basically something like racing against time, and so, the day the semester began for their year was earlier compared to other years .

Wearing a school uniform after fifteen years, the calm heart of Song Ye rippled slightly .
