Seeing his cold glare, Ann snorted and let go of his collar. Bin held his aching head while saying
"Is that so?"
A bout of silence flowed between the two of them causing the atmosphere to become awkward. Aldren didn't know what to do, he was about to say something but soon gave up, unwilling to make Ann angrier.
The silence was broken by Bin's coughing, which ended up with him vomiting a large volume of blood. Even Ann was a bit startled as she looked at the red ground.
"Your body's condition is very bad. I think the Mana inside of your bad is the cause, you should stay away from Maninfected places and proper rest."
Although she was angry at him due to his ungrateful att.i.tude, she still pitied him as he was a dead man for sure. Her tone softened as she gave him her honest advice to which Bin waved his hand dismissively while retorting
"You think I don't know that? Why don't you give me something that'll ease the pain instead."
The girl crossed her arms while sneakily inspecting his extremely pale face.
"Pain-killers won't ease your agony. As I said, you need rest."
Bin shook his head while adding:
"Not too long ago, some doctor injected me with something that made me energetic. It got rid of the dizziness and pain."
As she listened to him, Ann became confused as there was no medicine which has such an effect, especially for a special case like Bin. She entered the room and retrieved his blood sample. Using her 'Medical Eye' and the microscope, she soon discovered what he was talking about.
Only a small amount remained in his blood but her vast medical expertise allowed her to recognize the used substance. A frown appeared on her face, she mumbled a few things to herself before sucking a deep breathe while glancing at Bin.
"What? Do you know the medicine he's talking about?"
Aldren read her expression so he b.u.t.ted in, urging her for a reply.
"Listen, it's not a medicine but a drug."
"What?! A doctor using a drug on a patient? Isn't that illegal?"
The dandy youth was startled by this revelation. In response, Ann explained:
"Yes and no. In special cases, drugs are allowed if the patient's fate is sealed. It's just to make their final days peaceful instead of complete suffering."
Bin didn't even flinch when hearing that, he stared at the female doctor and said
"So, do you have it?"
It didn't take a genius to guess what Bin wants. Ann rampaged through her countless dusty vials and took out two vials filled with an orange liquid.
"It's called the 'Buster Drug'. It increases the amount of adrenaline your body secretes and eases the pain but it has also severe side-effects. Over-consumption will cause the body to depend on it and injecting a large amount at the same time has a 80% chance of causing heart failure. It's an old drug that's rarely used now, there's other optio-"
"No need, give me that."
Bin walked to Ann, planning to s.n.a.t.c.h the vials only for the doctor to retract her hand while adding:
"Who said I'm giving them to you?"
Bin snickered and retorted
"Didn't you say you'll help those in need?"
"I did but giving them will only cause your condition to worsen."
Seeing his confused expression, Ann explained:
"Your body will become more active so it'll absorb more Mana. This is only a temporary solution."
Bin still didn't change his mind, wanting to use the drugs for now lest he keep falling unconscious. Ann smiled back at him while saying:
"If you agree to my condition, I'll give them to you."
"What do you want?"
She raised her index finger and answered
"Once a week you'll come here so I can examine your body. I'm not confident but I may be able to create a temporary cure which will halt your deteriorating body."
She presented the two vials to Bin, who s.n.a.t.c.hed them.
"Deal."
Ann nodded her head and proceeded to tell him how to use the drug. It's quite simple but the injection can't be used anywhere on the body, it has to be in the middle of his chest and nowhere else.

Aldren watched the unfolding event without uttering a word. He never imagined things to turn out this way, to think he thought that a dying person was a vampire…
…
As the youth was driving him back to Jasmine's house, Bin said
"Don't tell anyone."
His tone wasn't as cold as before, it sounded more like a request. In response, Aldren repeatedly nodded his head while saying
"Yeah yeah don't worry, I'm quite tight-lipped."
As the trip took more than just a few minutes, Aldren didn't want to bathe in this awkward silence so he started a conversation with deadpan Bin.
"How come your serving Jasmine? Don't you have better things to do? You're dying, after all."
Aldren was truly curious about Bin, who would rather work under Jasmine rather than enjoy his remaining days.
Bin let out a sigh and said
"Then what would you have me do?"
The dandy youth pondered for a moment before speaking:
"I don't know… tour the world, drink in bars…"
A chuckle escaped Bin's mouth as he heard Aldren's words.
"… And to do all of that… with what money? Yours?"
Aldren didn't know how to respond to what Bin just said so he just kept fidgeting in his seat.
"Not everyone is as carefree as you people. I have responsibilities and people to take care of."
The short conversation ended with that, causing the awkwardness to return thus making Aldren rather uncomfortable. Bin didn't care as he leaned on the chair and enjoyed the ride. He wanted to rest but his rapidly beating heart made him feel very energetic.
Jasmine will definitely through a fit of anger because he left on short notice.

Back in the lab, Ann was re-examining the test results and trying to understand what's wrong with Bin's body. The more she dug, the more surprised she became.
'This is ridiculous!'
She stared at a white sheep of paper with many red lines on it. The lines indicated the heart beat of the test subject in a period of time.
'How can a person have such a fast heartbeat? Is it because of the Mana? B-but this isn't right, Mana is supposed to affect the heart. Why does the body keep absorbing the Mana endlessly? Where's the threshold?'
Ever since the apparition of Mana and Magic on Earth one hundred years ago, every human's body adapted and became able to absorb Mana. Every person has a certain threshold, some are called 'gifted' because their threshold is higher than the average hence their ability to use proper 'Magic'. Bin does not have a threshold and his body is like a vacuum, absorbing every bit of Mana around him.
'If it's absorbing Mana non-stop, he should have died a long time ago… how come he survived till now? Is it some kind of Metamorphosis? Or is he really not human? No, that shouldn't be right. He's definitely human but…'
She looked at the ultrasound results and noticed a minuscule object at the center of the heart.
'What is that? It's… metallic? Is it artificial? I need to run more tests!'
