Chapter 94 Kick Down the Door
It was Zhou Qingfeng’s neighbor who came to visit him late at night. He was abandoned by his adoptive parents when he was young, so he rented a house in an old residential area within the city. The young woman standing in front him was his neighbor.
Tianyang City was undergoing an economic recession, and all kinds of messes happened one after another.
The young woman’s surname was Yuan, and Mei was her given name. Zhou Qingfeng used to refer to her as Sister Yuan as she was only a few years older than him. Sister Yuan was an accountant in the city’s wool mill factory. Her husband’s name was Guo Jiaming. Rumors had it that he was the deputy director of the wool mill factory.
A few years ago, those state-owned enterprises in Tianyang City still held quite good financial positions. The others praised the young woman after their marriage because they believed that she would bring good luck to her husband’s factory. However, within a mere couple of years, the wool mill factory declared bankruptcy and all the factory workers could only work in other factories to support themselves. Guo Jiaming’s father was even imprisoned because of corruption.
The entire Guo family had screwed up, and thus they could only stay beside Zhou Qingfeng’s residence. Guo Jiaming had an electrical wholesale business where he mainly sold induction cookers. However, there were too many poor people in the city nowadays, and so, he could not sell his products and was forced to keep them in his house. He was now a door-to-door salesman, working to sell those induction cookers.
Worse still was the fact that Guo Jiaming did not have the courage to promote his induction cooker whenever he approached anyone’s house. Instead, he let his wife do his job for him. He only stared at her all the time as if he were a bully.
As one of her neighbors, Zhou Qingfeng was the young woman’s first stop. When he opened the door, he saw a young woman standing shyly outside his house. He ought to have turned her way, but he was soft-hearted, so he bought an induction cooker from her. According to their agreement, the induction cooker cost five hundred yuan, and he could try it for free for seven days. He can even wait till the free trial was over before paying her the money.
At that time, Zhou Qingfeng felt that Sister Yuan was indeed a tough woman. The young woman even blushed when Zhou Qingfeng finally nodded his head.
Although Sister Yuan was a good woman, Guo Jiaming’s product broke in just two days. At first, Zhou Qingfeng wanted to ask if there existed any warranty for the induction cooker, but he then saw dozens of housewives queuing up in front of Guo Jiaming’s house. All of them were asking for a refund.
d.a.m.n it!
Guo Jiaming hid inside his house, not daring to face the complaints. His wife, on the other hand, was apologizing on his behalf. Not only she did not make any profit out of the sales, she even suffered a financial loss of over ten thousand yuan.
During that night, Sister Yuan had complained as she felt that her husband should not have purchased such terrible goods. However, Guo Jiaming became enraged. He even beat her up.
Zhou Qingfeng could still remember that scene since their houses were separated by only a wooden wall. The young woman had cried for mercy, and the fight did not stop even after ten minutes had pa.s.sed. He could not stand the way Guo Jiaming talked to his wife anymore, so he went out of his house and kicked down his neighbor’s door in order to release his pent-up anger. At that moment, Guo Jiaming was intimidated into silence.
As for the broken induction cooker, Zhou Qingfeng threw it directly to the corner of his room. He knew that he would only feel sorry and embarra.s.sed if he argued with Sister Yuan. He also knew that Guo Jiaming will only hide in his room instead of dealing with his complaints.
However, unexpectedly, Guo Jiaming came to find him. He was probably there to ask Zhou Qingfeng to clear the bill as the seven-day free trial had pa.s.sed.
The young woman knew that the induction cookers sold by them were extremely poor in quality, and she should not be asking Zhou Qingfeng to clear his bill.
The young woman only came there because she too was facing difficulties. Her family was hard up for money, and hence she had no other choice but to ask for Zhou Qingfeng’s help. She hoped that the induction cooker which she had sold to Zhou Qingfeng was still usable. Afterall, he did not ask for a refund.
Nonetheless, the young woman lowered her head when Zhou Qingfeng said, ‘No, I couldn’t’. She forced a smile and said, “I’m sorry, Xiao Zhou. I’m only asking, don’t mind me. I also understand that the induction cooker which I’ve sold you is really poor in quality. Sorry for disturbing you at midnight…. Rest well.”
The door had closed, but it did not end there. Bursts of complaints could soon be heard from the next door. It seemed that Guo Jiaming was unsatisfied with her performance, as he felt that she could have at least gotten one to two hundred yuan back from him.
Zhou Qingfeng felt happy because he could finally be able to live a debt-free life, but his mood had quickly soured. He wanted to hear Sister Yuan’s retort, but Guo Jiaming was the only source of the noise. After several minutes, a woman’s pained yell rang through his house.
In the previous incident, Zhou Qingfeng only fought for justice because of his pent-up anger. However, the current Zhou Qingfeng had acc.u.mulated a lot of evil tendencies during his trip to Wasteland. Thus, he would act as soon as he felt provoked.
Act like a chivalrous knight on the highway in the middle ages, ready with a drawn sword at the sight of injustice!
With just a single move, Zhou Qingfeng leaped from his bed. He opened his door, stood in front of Guo Jiaming’s house, then kicked down his door. He roared like a crash of thunder, “Shut up, it’s already deep in the midnight!”
The roar was extremely powerful, and it almost stormed its way into the sky. All the people in the residential area trembled, as they thought that a vicious beast had entered their dreams. They were all roused from their deep sleep by the roar!
Meanwhile, Guo Jiaming held a wooden stick in his hand, exerting all his strength and hitting his wife. He instantly felt weak in the knees, his lips turning pale when he heard the roar. The wooden stick even slipped from his hand. He turned his head around and saw yet another big hole in his door.
After taking the NTZ-49, Zhou Qingfeng’s bone density and muscle ma.s.s had been significantly strengthened. He now had twice the strength of an ordinary person, and his explosive power had reached four to five times of a normal human being’s. In the past, he could only stomp on the door once he kicked it. However, this time around, he was able to break the door completely.
There’s now a f*cking big hole in the door!
“F*ck! What kind of door did you install in your house? It’s extremely poor in quality too!” Zhou Qingfeng was still feeling angry even after he kicked the door. He was only willing to go back home and sleep after he cursed for a bit.
As expected, Guo Jiaming was terrified. He had lost the intent to continue hitting his wife, as he went back to his bedroom and slept. The young woman, on the other hand, stood back up. She touched her elbow, but she did not feel any pain at all. Instead, she felt relief. She only worried because of the new hole in her house door.
Zhou Qingfeng still felt depressed when he went back to his own room. In the year 2016, he had been living in this world for twenty-four years, yet he could not even find a girlfriend. In contrast, a good woman lay in the clutches of Guo Jiaming, a useless person who only hid inside his house.
Zhou Qingfeng felt drowsy, but he could not sleep. All of a sudden, he heard a burst of sound, as if someone was knocking on the door. However, he was pretty sure that no one was knocking on his door.
“F*cking Guo, you really don’t understand that it’s already deep in the midnight, don’t you?” Once again, with just a single move, he leaped out from his bed. He opened his house door and stood in front of Guo Jiaming’s house. However, this time around, under the dim light emitted by the streetlamp, he saw the young woman crouching on the ground. She was holding a hammer in her hand, and it seemed that she was trying to fix her door.
The young woman was surprised when Zhou Qingfeng suddenly appeared right in front of her. She stuttered, especially when she looked into Zhou Qingfeng’s eyes, filled with murderous intent. “I’m just trying to fix my door. It’s already deep in the midnight; I don’t want to have burglars coming into my house.”
Zhou Qingfeng’s kick indeed put a big hole in her house door. A burglar could actually enter her house if the burglar crouched enough to get through. However, he shouted coldly, “There’s nothing worth stealing in your house. A burglar will even cry if they enter your house!”
“But I’m still living in it! This door needs to be fixed.” The young woman tried to argue with him.
Zhou Qingfeng’s expression turned even colder as he told her, “It’s only a broken door, isn’t it? How about you find someone to fix it tomorrow morning and I'll pay for it? Now, just find a cabinet, cover the hole up, and go to sleep. I’ll trash you if you dare to make any noise again!”
“Oh…” the young woman replied to him, terrified.
