Chapter 55        DogMeat

“d.a.m.n it!”

Zhou Qingfeng cursed loudly. He was now very sure that he had terrible luck. The brainwave a.n.a.lyzer evaluated his brainwaves and connected him to the brain of a gorilla.

Zhou Qingfeng walked down from the a.n.a.lyzer, a dark expression on his face. Angie and Tony Parker stepped backward in fright. Katrina, however, laughed sarcastically. “Looks like the gorilla is perfect for you!”

The gorilla brain was not compatible with DogMeat at all. Even walking will be too much for a gorilla brain to handle. The researchers from Babylon’s Smartlab must be out of their minds. Those kinds of results were extremely ridiculous.

Zhou Qingfeng was very unsatisfied with his results. Then Katrina said, “Hey! Are you going to leave? Let Tony Parker give it a try as well. It might be useful to keep Angie safe if he got DogMeat.”

Tony Parker immediately smiled as he nodded his head in vigorously. However, when he saw Zhou Qingfeng’s angry expression, he stepped backward and showed a mischievous smile.

According to the movie, DogMeat actually belonged to Tony Parker. This gangster was such a dreg. He could only survive the cataclysm because of the fierce, brave, and loyal DogMeat. Tony Parker always ran away when he encountered any sort of danger, leaving DogMeat to solve its owner’s problem.

Due to Tony Parker’s troublemaking, DogMeat had to face very strong enemies.

After three months had pa.s.sed and the nuclear war started, DogMeat’s fur had been completely shed, with its body filled with scars and some of its parts even damaged. One of its electronic eyes was broken, and one of its legs was lame. Even though Tony Parker was a bad owner, DogMeat did not leave him.

Zhou Qingfeng was very mad as he believed that such a terrible owner did not deserve such a loyal partner. However, if Tony Parker did not get the robotic dog, no one would be able to help the Lawrence family. The Lawrence family would get into trouble quite frequently. With Tony Parker’s penchant for trouble, he would totally kill the Lawrences one day.

If Zhou Qingfeng had gotten DogMeat, he would have been able to think of a way to protect the Lawrences. He could at least handle the situation for the first three months after the start of the cataclysm. After the nuclear war, they would have needed to depend on their own luck. However, he did not manage to get this upgraded version of DogMeat.

He sighed. This is my destiny!

“So be it.” Zhou Qingfeng could only sigh as he allowed Tony Parker to sit on the brainwave a.n.a.lyzer. After a few minutes, the biochemical brain that was perfectly compatible with DogMeat was taken out.

DogMeat was modeled after the German Shepherd. It did not look it, but it was very agile. It was around sixty centimeters tall, and it possessed very powerful limbs. It weighed fifty kilograms, yet it could carry two hundred.

DogMeat’s sensitive nose was exactly the same as a real dog’s, and its electronic eyes had infrared vision. Its canine teeth and strong armor, coupled with an agile four-legged walking mechanism made it an extremely dangerous weapon.

The a.s.sembled DogMeat came out from the sterilized control room. The first thing it did was run around Tony Parker while wagging its tail. Zhou Qingfeng did not feel good. He thought his hard work was paid for someone else.

“Let’s go,” Zhou Qingfeng said unhappily, “you guys should know the situation. The media had just reported that the police, military, government officials and businessmen have all disappeared. I believe that the world would become a mess very soon and you guys should prepare yourselves for it.”

“What?” Katrina felt a lot better and could already walk by herself. She had no idea what Zhou Qingfeng was talking about.

“I’m saying that you’ll find that the whole world has changed when you walk out from this lab.” Zhou Qingfeng strode toward the security door and released the guards. The guards screamed and ran away when they saw Katrina.

Angie was even more confused when she heard Zhou Qingfeng’s words. She took a few steps forward and asked, “Victor, what do you mean? Why will the police disappear?”

“I don’t know, but you’ll soon find out that the whole society has changed. From now on, take care of your own, because New York will become more and more dangerous.” As Zhou Qingfeng arrived at the elevator, he saw Lena Fox walking toward him.

Miss Fox smiled as she saw that DogMeat was beside Tony Parker. She said, “My dear Mr Victor Hugo, I see you didn’t get that dog. You don’t look very happy.”

All of them except Zhou Qingfeng were shocked when they saw Lena Fox. Compared to Zhou Qingfeng who did not know anything about 2030, they recognized her as the CEO of the Fox Foundation at a glance.

“You two really escaped from the police!” Katrina was astonished and said sarcastically, “Victor, I think the reason you didn’t get DogMeat was because you used up your luck when you escaped.”

Tony Parker ran enthusiastically to Lena Fox and said joyfully, “Miss Fox, I’m your fan. I really like you and I adore everything about you! Can I get your signature? How about on my b.u.t.t?”

“Scram!” Lena Fox chased him away and slowly walked toward Zhou Qingfeng. She turned around and look at Katrina and Angie.

Katrina shot a weird glance at Zhou Qingfeng and Lena Fox as she waved to Angie and said, “Alright then, it seems like someone doesn’t like being with us. We’ve accomplished the mission; it’s time to leave.”

Angie planned to talk to Zhou Qingfeng for a little while longer, yet it seemed like he was not going to respond. Hence, she turned around and walked toward the elevator. As for Tony Parker, even though he just got scolded by Lena Fox, he acted as if did not care while playing with DogMeat.

Zhou Qingfeng was depressed, heaving a long sigh when he saw Tony Parker with DogMeat. Meanwhile, Lena Fox laughed, blew at his ear and asked, “That dog is very important, am I right?”

“Yeah, it’s kinda important.” It could protect a guy with a combat power equivalent to five men and help him live through the last phase of the cataclysm easily.

“You really want it, don’t you?”

“Yeah, I really want it.” If it was not for this dog, Zhou Qingfeng would not have wasted three days with the police.

“If I help you get this dog, would you be honest with me and answer my questions? I want to know your secrets.”

Zhou Qingfeng’s heart skipped a beat when he heard what Lena Fox said. “How are you going to get it?”

“Well, it’s totally up to you.” Lena Fox pointed at Tony Parker and said, “You better be quick, otherwise your dog is going to leave with somebody else.”

In the meantime, Tony Parker was leading DogMeat into the elevator. He deliberately laughed as he waved at Zhou Qingfeng and said, “Thank you, Victor. Thank you for letting me win this bet. I really appreciate your generosity.”

“Alright, deal.” Zhou Qingfeng stopped hesitating as he thought to himself, Guess I have no choice but to treat her as my partner, then. Her ability might be able to help me in the future, making her actually reliable.

“Smart choice.” After saying this, Lena Fox whistled to the dog and put her finger out to lure the dog.

The door of elevator was already closing. However, DogMeat immediately turned around and ran out of the elevator when it heard the whistling sound. It ran around Lena Fox while wagging its tail.

The door of elevator had closed, but it opened again very quickly. The trio in the elevator were astonished as they saw DogMeat run away. Tony Parker, who laughed the most just mere moments ago, was now filled with consternation. He then asked dumbly, “What’s going on? How the h.e.l.l did you do that?”
